Hi,

Spotted these 2 connectors, 1 grey, and 1 black coming out of harness near left front side of engine.

Black has what appears to be 2 contacts, and grey has 3 contacts.

Picture is taken from ground, left side looking up.

Thanks.

looks like data link connectors from a late and early truck....odd.  Are they t'd together?

That is exactly what they are, as if you were to hook into the ecm with say a Cummins inline6 or inline7 datalink connector versus going through the obd port in the cab.

The data link I plugged my Comp into was an inline 3 prong female plug located about midway on the block, drivers side. If thats the same thing you all are speaking of.

It's a three prong flat plug with only two active pins in it.  Or at least mine is like that...

Thats what I was speaking of when I said inline. whether one is inactive or not I dont remember.

Both plugs int he image are datalink, the black plug has a terminator installed.

The three pin triangle shape plug is the datalink

When I posted that I meant that's the connector to plug into with the dla adaptor the two pin is a terminating resistor in the plug

Thanks guys.

Should there be a Cap on the ends to cover up the contacts.  (2 on the black and 3 on triangle grey)

Yep both should have a cap on them by the looks of the pic they have the factory caps on them they have little rubber plugs in the holes where there would be wires normally. All is good?
