I am looking for a flex plate for my 2001 5.9 diesel 4x4  with a 47RE transmission. I really dont see the need for a billet one and are having a hard time finding a non billet one. The only one I can track down is the one on MTS website. The F2-5.9 for $195. What do yall think of this thing? Do you know of any other non billet ones?

I think firepunk runs those. I ordered that same one, but the fit was sloppy on the TC hub, so I ended up with a goerend billet. Just don’t order a BD.   https://shopfirepunk.com/i

Chinese made. I have the PRW unit sitting in my shed brand new from Jegs. They dont have it on their website anymore. I couldnt rationalize having to drop my transmission again to replace it, or worse

  • Rockauto has stock flex plates. I’d spend the extra hundred somethin on a Goerend flex plate before I bought the one you listed. I’d just prefer either stock, or go with the one you know will perform

More like going with a quality part than cheap part so you not damaging other things like your transmission.

What is wrong with the BD flexplate?  I have a new one on the shelf waiting to go in.

Cracked welds from the factory

So if they Aren't cracked they are ok?

I looked at mine, it Didn't look to be cracked.  The ring gear is the only thing that's welded

I run this in my truck. They are rated at 500hp but we have people running them in higher horsepower trucks.

Seems weird. Rated to 500? My current trans was built to hold 550-600ish and i was told it wasn’t needed. I did do it just because I wanted everything done but curious as to the rating being what it is compared to stock.

Should be good. Cracked ring gear welds are the issue

Mine was built Sept 2017.  According to the tag.  Maybe they corrected the issue

Drawstraw 5 and quad xzt. Although I’m back and forth between the quad and smarty.

I thought the same thing, being an aftermarket flywheel. Looking at Firepunk's flywheel it is rated as "capable" of holding 1200 HP. However it does have the tangs that showed so much slop in the above video. The goerend flexplate has the circle that fits the end of the crank which seems to have a much tighter tolerance.

Looking at the one on firepunks website, the picture has some porosity in the welds!

Goerend unit all the way. Tight tolerances and they have 12 holes or 2 sets of holes for TC bolts incase they oval from poor installation. I did have to clean some slag off and I touched all the holes both TC and crank with a grinder to de-burr it.

Here is some pics of my flex plate that seems to have the bolt holes wallerd out a little at the toque converter and the crank. lol.I placed a torque converter bolt in one hole to show what I mean. Hopefully yall can see it.
