Does anyone know where I can get new trans cooler lines from the transmission up to the heat exchanger tank or whatever that tank is on the side of the trans? Its leaking really bad out of that fitting.

  • If that fitting is bound that tight I don't think an easy out will work.  With the walls so thin It probably will just jam the threads of the fitting tighter into the case.      I would take

  • Such a relief!!! These are worth their weight in gold!!! Anyone know what this fitting is called and the called? Also this axe body wash is the best grease oil remover I've ever seen.

  • Go buy a lottery ticket because you got lucky.   If you snapped the fitting taking it off I thought for sure that was seized in the case.

Do you know if the connector at the heat exchanger is one of the Chrystler quick clips?

Damn mine must be siezed up I cant break it loose for the life of me.

I believe you need to be looking at figure 7-620 which is page 126 of the PDF parts lookup tool. At least thats the diagram of the tank that I believe your talking about. Although the lines will be in the other picture posted earlier. #2 and #6 will be the ones going under the bell housing. Part#'s 52028732AC and 52028633 respectively.

Take it from someone working for chrysler right now. I can look up common rail engines and newer stuff and still get a diagram of old stuff. Its kinda at random. Not sure why its like that but it would be nice if they were able to maybe at least make the diagrams accurate.

Well how do I go about getting this out? This is the fitting from the front of the trans to the heat exchanger.  I can win for lose here.  The fitting in the trans sheared right off.

If that fitting is bound that tight I don't think an easy out will work.  With the walls so thin It probably will just jam the threads of the fitting tighter into the case.

I would take a hacksaw blade, trim it thinner to fit in the hole with the teeth angled to cut on the pull stroke.   With the hacksaw blade cut grooves in the fitting at the 6 and 4 o'clock.  Cut only the fitting, do not cut the threads in the case.  When the two grooves are cut  take a pic or an awl and work that small slice of the fitting up and out. You might want to cut one more groove at 8 o'clock to make the next steep easier.  Once that peace is out you can then collapse the rest of the fitting and spin it out.

Take your time and be patient.  I've used this method several times over the years and it's worked every time.

If I drop the pan can I get to the opposite side of where this fitting is?  Just to help incase pieces fall into the tranny?

No, That's a pressure line that comes from the l/u switch valve.  Use a magnet and brake cleaner spray with a straw to flush any thing out.

Any metal misses will go through the cooler and into the pan to be caught by the magnet in the pan or the filter.

You'd be taking so much of the transmission apart. Thats all above the valve body and i think even after that you wouldnt be able to get to it because if i remember right theres part of the casting still in the way which would mean removing the whole trans so you can pull it completely apart etc...

Not sure what the name of those is but the factory part# is 52028764AA if you wanna go that route. Looks like a "bushing" as they call them sometimes..
