Truck has intermittent power steering, moaning and groaning.  Going to start simple with fluid.  Any last minute advice on fluid choice?  I don’t have a jack to get the front wheels off of the ground, will get one if you guys tell me that is the only way.  I have jack stands just no jack.  Any and all help is appreciated.

correct...hose technology isnt up to par iin the PRE-98.

Also, clean the screen filter in the PS system hose connection...they gunk up sporadically, and are the cause of many a hard to diagnose PS racket.

So after 2 days of driving seems like it is getting better by the day.  Haven’t experienced groan since Sunday.  Will keep paying close attention

Strange but true. After 300k miles and I replace my reservoir to seal the screen in my pump was spotless and clean. No debris at all. The reservoir was clean also just wiped it out to clean out in the old fluid residue.
