Anybody know a good brand or setup for some valve stem extensions, several on the market

I've done away with valve stem extensions maybe 10 years now.   But I do have a gator caps on.  I picked up a long reach valve core extension remover to remove/tighten etc valve cores.  And I check or add air with an offset fuel head air chuck.  Very little chance of failure running no extensions.  Hardest part now is holding flashlight to get ahold of the cap.

 

If you've had a failure, check out people that run large fleets.  U-haul for instance.  At work we had lots of failures with valve extensions or the braided line rubbing on stuff till we went with gator caps only and reach in with tools to get job done, versus extending the valve stem out.

Valve stem extension have left me with flat tires in the past I don't suggest them at all. Best off having the proper air chucks and tire pressure gauge. I've had objects push through and rip the hose, etc. Then have the clamp on style come loose and cut a tire.

I once looked at going with extensions on mine but opted out due to worrying about a leaky connection.  I usually have one of my sons help me when I check tire pressure.  But, I do like to pull the rears every now and then just to make sure they don't build up a rust ring.  They become super hard to remove when rust builds up.

Yeah I've dealt with this issue with my landlord's truck. He runs to the salt flats for the event down there. Then ask me to change tires for him or do brake work. The hubs are badly rusted and takes a full size sledgehammer to free the tires from the hubs even the front hubs.

Mine were that way when I bought it. No more. A little never seize goes a long way.

I'd also like to see a picture of an offset gauge and chuck that allows access without extensions. I've been running with extensions for 11 years now without ever an issue but I've never really felt comfortable with them.

What type extensions you have, Solid or a hose?

Solid. 1.5", just on the outside tire to enable using a standard dually chuck. Truck came with plastic ones. They had to go. I bought the most expensive ones National Auto had on the shelf. IIRC these are brass. I've had no issues even in the mud and hay fields I run but I'd like to see this offset chuck mentioned.

How you get away with Wyoming plates in PA?

We don't need a front plate in PA. The Wyo. plate comes from an inlaw that lives out there. It's just a vanity plate of sorts for me. I like the bucking horse .

Here's a pic of all my extended reach stuff.  No extensions to leak. No hassles with branded lines.  

Hmmm. I have that stuff. But without an extension on the stem it's too close to the tire to get on it straight. Both my gauge and chuck are that way. Unless the angle on mine is too shallow?

That one chuck with a rubber hose that's why I bought it, the long metal one not enough flexibility to reach in to get good seal to air up.  maybe putting a bit of pressure on it been to bend it a tad.  Careful with steel,  brass a little easier to bend a tad. 

I bend the long air chuck. Stick it in a trailer rail or something until the bend is adjusted correctly to air up inside dual.

 

Seems a small straight air gauge works most the time.

I think i'll start with replacing my rubber stems with solid metal stems 1 1/2" long. Then Gator caps.

 

The issue I got now is stems are too short to reach in to unscrew the plastic valve stem cap.  I could easily check the pressure or inflate with my long air chuck but I just can't unscrew the damn cap.  Also Doesn't help that the rubber stem moves around with trying to check the pressure.

I found these solid stems online, they come in 4 per pack.  1 1/2" long. Plated  brass.  I'm going to order today.  I'll post feedback once I set them up.
