I've used a small bottle jack and a 2x6 and spread the frame slightly like an 1/8 inch max comes out easy.

I don't... I normally clean the splines off with brake clean and don't add any grease to the splines of the input shaft. Just seems to collect dust and debris. Adding to wear of the input shaft. Witho

Jack up trans a little, take bolts of crossmember out, rubber mallet and knock it loose then slide one side back and it will drop out from between the frame rails.

Frame and crossmember are on a taper (from the top down).

That is why it won't just drop out.   Both of the above suggestions work to remove it.  The taper is why you have to do it that way.

I learned that when I did my clutch job.  I used a bottle jack and a board to spread the frame for removal.  Then I studied the frame and I realized that the jack wasn't needed and I re-installed the crossmember without the jack.  Somebody told me a long time ago...  work smarter, not harder.  Every once a while I exercise that option, but not too often - I don't want to overdo it.

Good tips, i am looking at buying a new South Bend Clutch, just over stock. Who would you recommend to purchase from? From what Ive seen everyones about the same on price just trying to support good folks.

I typically buy directly from Southbend Clutch. I just call Ryan at Southbend and get what I'm looking for. Like I'm trying to get a clutch for the 2006 Dodge in my shop right now.

I went through ECD 727.00 Flywheel and all, 375hp basic stock. The old clutch, I should have left it in and ran it. The pilot bearing was perfect, throw out was in good shape and the clutch, I'll put a caliper on it and let you know. One question, what would you lube the splines with on clutch? What ever I used back then still looks good I wish I could remember.

I don't... I normally clean the splines off with brake clean and don't add any grease to the splines of the input shaft. Just seems to collect dust and debris. Adding to wear of the input shaft. Without grease then the debris doesn't stick and the plate(s) don't gum up with dust loaded grease.
