I don't have the answers, but I will be following this thread as I want to do the same repair on my truck this winter.

Pull the vp, intake and block mounted filter,. It's easy from there

I suppose injector lines in the way, the old fuel pump bracket, can that be removed? I guess once you start removing injection pump it becomes more clear. I just had injection pump off and as luck goes it wasnt leaking bad. It just started pouring oil a few days ago. I tried to tighten but no luck. I also thought of making tabs that act as bigger washers to pull down in a greater surface.

If I ever have to do mine I'm going to replace the braided oil line too because it's very rusty maybe the vacuum pump seal also but my power steering line is about rusted out too.

Yea lines come off with the pump.

I'd do the intake manifold gasket when you are in there to assuming it wasn't just replaced

Before you make washers review my post earlier this year. My cover was warped 1/8”. The new gasket blew out within days of replacement. When I repaired it 2nd time I checked cover saw the warping. I used flat bar( see the pictures) to add pressure to the outer rim of the cover. So far so good!
