I've been adding 2 cycle oil to my VP-44 and my wife's 12V since 2001, 8 years now. Pulled the injectors once and they looked exactly as expected. No evil 2 cycle "gum" buildup.Now to the interesting part: I bought another used 3500 2001 with 117,000 miles. Shortly there afterwards, I started getting low power periods and P1693 (?), the code for "internal timing error". I didn't have the time or money to replace the VP at that time. So I experimented with heavy dosing of 2 cycle oil in the fuel. <100:1 mix ratio. I was able to drive the truck several more months before replacing the VP.My son didnt believe me about 2 cycle oil, his VP died at about 150,000 miles. Same code. He decided to try the heavy dosing of 2 cycle oil, and he was able to drive the truck for a month. But if he forgot to add the 100:1 2 cycle oil back wouold come the P1693 code. I had the same experience if I forgot to heavy dose.Is the heavy dosing a "fix"? Answer: no, the damage is already done, but the extra high dose of lubrication got the timing ring to move again.Suppositionally, I suggest that increasing the lurication quality of diesel fuel will prolong the life of the injection pump and injectors, since both are mechanical and I have not see a mechanical device that didnt benefit from improved lubrication.

I had the 1693 error code along with the P0234 code a couple of weeks back when my lift pump failed but i don't know what the codes are or if it had anything to do with the pump failure.

The 1693 is a companion code. This just tells you there is another code. The 234 code is your "turbo boost limit exceeded". Someone else will have to chime in on if there is anything that needs to be done with that. At this time I have never had a problem with my turbo.

I just started running the 2 cycle oil in my fuel and I think the truck even makes more torque with it.

without it, people always know when i arrive at their houses. one coworker said he thought i was UPS or a school bus. with it....everyone says "i didn't hear you pull up".

Funny...:lmao2: Because Mom says that all the time I did hear you pull up... But I can't escape the Dog (Diesel) he can hear the exhaust brake nearly a mile out as I slow down to turn into the driveway.

im using WMO in my idi with the stanadyne db2 ip at about 100-1 and it seems to help with cold starts as well as power. this ulsd really stinks.... pun intended.

i didn't have diesel until 08. but i don't think dodge or cummins designed my motor with ULSD in mind. bosch knows that poor fuel kills pumps. but did LSD smell different and sound different or is this the nostalgia of yesteryear?

Some people do ask funny questions. I was putting Molyslip E engine oil additive in my race car drysump oil tank at the speedway and the guy pitted beside me said " hey is that stuff any good"? And I said "no not really", like why would I put it in my engine if it wasn't, lol! It is molybdenum disulphide. My diesel loves it too. In the USA I believe it is sold under the name "Mr. Moly" and there is a whole product line, not just the oil additive. It'll probably reduce the friction, increase the torque and hp output as well as your mpg. Quieter engine too but go to molyslip.com and decide for yourselves. I've been using it since 1977...

It stinks, sucks and generally blows. IDK if it smells funny too.

ulsd doesn't stink as much as the diesel fuel did before ulsd. gas has a stronger smell. With this ulsd if I have some in a can I have to smell it twice to be sure it's fuel.Or maybe I'm just getting old.:confused:
