I have read several threads on removal of the Silencer Ring from the turbo intake. But this seems to be making it sound louder when ramping up for the drivers interest. If you remove the ring, will this increase:* the air intake volume ? * add more HP ? * increase MPG ? * anything besides increasing noise ?Has anyone ever try this and documented what changes happen ? Or is it only to increase the sound of the turbo ramping up ?

it do,s nothing but make more noise no performance or mpg increase

x2!!!:thumb1: I tried it, and I hated the sound it made in my '04.5. It actually sounded like the Martians from the original "War of the Worlds"!!!

I thought this might be bunk and it's for the noise of it. Thanks ... saved me a trip under the truck to find out.

As everyone else has stated the removal is only for turbo whistle. I removed the one in my stock turbo and liked it, it's not excessive with the stock intake, even with the MIT, but it does make it noticable.

With my straight through "muffler", I don't need any more sound! Wife still wearing ear plugs!

I did it to my 03 for the sound. I wasn't expecting anything other then an increase of the turbo whistle which I enjoy. Usually prefer that over the radio lol. Guess its a personal preference.Have fun

I took the silencer ring out of mine, with the bhaf an 5" straight exhaust, my truck really whistles!

And that's all, my truck has straigth exhaust, so you can barely notice the whistle on the inside of the truck.
