Posted November 21, 201113 yr i have a terrible vibration during acceleration. already replaced carrier bearing, differential seems ok, as do bearings. 260,000 miles new to me in april 2011help!!
November 23, 201113 yr i don't know that procedure. put your foot on the brake, then load the transmission up and see if it is slipping in drive. BUT don't go overboard when you load it.
November 23, 201113 yr how many changes are required to change to a 5 or 6 speed? Dodge never offered a 5 speed and there is no stand alone controller for a 68RFE or Aisin yet.. So your options would be sell and buy a 6.7 or maybe www.destroked.com has the controls needed to run a stand alone Allison.
November 24, 201113 yr I thought there were several members here that had 5 speeds on their rig. They are either manual trans trucks or confused owners. It is very common for owners to think the 48RE is a 5 speed because the OD lockup is so abrupt it's like a 5t
November 24, 201113 yr i was asking about changing my 48re to a 6 or 6 speed manual On a 2gen, it's a cake walk. Pedals (brackets are same), slave master clutch assy, transfer case shift and transfer mount brackets are different, cross member is same, sclb tear driveshaft if a hair shirt, front shaft a hair long, cut a hole for the shifter. Starter same, midplate same, etc. If using 5 speed. If u have all the parts swap can be done in a day on jackstands. I've done it in my 96 sclb. Sent from my rooted EVO's tiny keyboard with my opposable thumbs...
November 25, 201113 yr Author is it harder on my '05 common rail? i really miss my nv 5600 i had on my last truck!
November 25, 201113 yr It wouldn't be all that hard, but you would have to change ECM's or get a tuner like the Smarty and ask MADS for the file to make your truck think it's a manual.
