So, I can't find it anywhere anymore, but I thought I saw a thread on here talking about using toilet paper in an oil filter container. Anyone know about it and if so, is it still available?

it works great in the long run, but im not 100% sold on it anymore.Especially since i can get the rated filters from the local cummins shop for 9.25 a filter.

TP oil filters were more popular years ago and TP was not as cheaply made then too. Personally I wouldn't risk my $10k engine saving a few bucks over a quality oil filter.

yep, that is why i cough up the big bucks and buy filters in bulk, i buy them by the case and have found the price drops dramatically.maybe i'll try to get a deal going someday.

I understand the Frantz is a secondary filter but there are primary TP oil filters. Not sure how many are still available but they do exist.

I don't think they could flow enough to satisfy a Cummins requires for a TP main oil filter... Bypass filter is fine with TP but a main filter I would scared to death...

There are plenty of Dodge Cummins on the road with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of miles on the odometer using regular oil and regular oil filters. I know you're simply wanting the most care for your truck but I'd spend money on other items.

Yes, I agree. I also wish to squeeze every last drops worth out of the products I put into it to keep it running. Without sacrificing any longevity to the truck, of course. If I can get a bypass filter like the aforementioned and it allows me to go 75k miles on an oil change, per oil analysis, why not?

I agree, although 75k miles seems way excessive. I know oil isn't cheap these days but I'd be a wreck running oil that long.....no matter what the analysis stated. The combustion process is just to contaminating for me to think that any oil would last for so long and not deplete important fighting agents, along with polymer breakdown and shearing, eventually leading to a loss in lubrication. But no matter, my opinion on oil life isn't the point here. You simply have to do the math and decide if the potential savings you hope to gain would be greater than the cost of the bypass unit, the analysis's, over the cost of oil for a calculated period of time and miles.
