Got it pulled yesterday and hopefully will get it put in thursday. First thing you will notice is we put safety first.:lmao: Got it up on blocks and jackstands and looking at it made me feel weary but after getting under it I felt good. Got a the sawzall out and cut the floor for easy access and then had to cut the crossmember out because it had been welded. After all that we pulled the bolts out of the bellhousing and then the clutch and flywheel. Two bolts in holding the clutch on gave us a problem but we finally got them out. Clutch and flywheel looked almost new and the trans had writing on it like it had been rebuilt so hopefully all is good.

Nice work!!!!That is a nice 5 wheel trailer!!!! Post a couple pictures of the your new cup holders when you get them in. I don't mind the ones on the shifter, (never spill stuff unless you miss the set down) but they are kinda a reach when you are towing heavy. I hate taking my eyes off of everything that long.Hag

The small one closest to the glove box is good but the other one is junk, some of the fingers are broken off and it doesnt hold anything. The cupholders in my 2003 6 speed were on the floor also but alot better than these. Hopefully my new cupholders will be in today.:hyper:

lol,I agree the best hole is the furthest!!! I finally found some good cups to fit the bigger one without readjusting the tabs. My coffee cup fits, so that is the most important!!I didn't realize the 6spd console was different. cool!!!Hag

Wow,Context is everything isn't it!!!!!Doh.....:doh:Crawls back under rock until further profound statement is realized.

lol,I like to also. Never saw the faux pas or double entendre as I wrote it. Hard to see that close to the vest!Hag

Got it in, it fits good but I have found a flaw, im used to resting my leg over there where it sets and now my leg hits it. Oh well, I can give up a little comfort to have usuable cupholder. I also had a new shift ball in my cart but erased it before I checked out, guess I didnt erase it quick enough.

So the cup holder is good? I need to put my radio siren controller and light system on the trans hump but dident want to lose my cup holder.

Havent used it yet but its deep and gotta be better than the one on the floor. I will give it a test drive today and let you know.

lightnin,It seems to be mechanically connected to the arm rest. Does it try to escape when you open the arm rest cover? Thanks so much for the pictures!!! Hmmmm.Neat shifter ball !!!!.Hag

No, it fits pretty tightly inside the arm rest. It comes with velcro or you could run a couple screws into it but its not needed.

I pulled the trans and clutch again today because its tricky to shift when its hot. I forgot my clutch alignment tool at home but other than that everything went smooth. There were a few spots of rust on my input shaft so I cleaned that up real good and put it all back together. It shifts pretty good now and I did it by myself in about 5 1/2 hrs total.:thumb1:

A little update, My mileage has gone up about a 1mpg or actually almost 2mpg's and I have been driving the same as before. I was having problems with taking off from a stop because the engine still thought it was had an automatic hooked to it so there was no governor to assist with take off. I pulled the ecm from the 2000 truck the trans came out of and now all is good. I also love this cupholder, should have picked one up years ago even with the drop down cupholder from the dash.

My '96 gained like 2-3mpg city and about 6mph highway, when going from the OE 47RE to the NV4500.. I'm contemplating putting my '97 DRW back to a 5spd (prev. owner swapped it to auto... :cookoo: )

If you can get a deal on a stick I would, cant believe I drove it this long as an auto. Try to find a G56 for it.:thumbup2:

Does the G56 'fit'? I.E. input shaft, etc., the same size? I've got a SB DD 3850# clutch set in the garage.
