Hi all,I need some advice on some factory style extended mirrors. I put a truck camper on her & a larger mirror would help make things a bit easier. If I went salvage yard hunting would I be able to find a good used set? Are there many trucks that had them. Seems like most the 2nd gens running around here have the small stock ones. What should I look out for? Easy install? Any aftermarket ones to stay away for or that you would recommend? Thanks,Dave

I just ordered a set from www.rockauto.com. They haven't gotten here yet so I don't have a testimony to share but the price was very reasonable compared to OEM mirrors. I'll let you know how they work when I get them in!

Dave, Unfortunately, you'll be pretty lucky to find them in a junk/salvage yard, just because they're sought-after. I've been looking in salvage yards around here for about 9 months, and haven't seen a single tow mirror yet..

I've got a factory style manual towing set for sale here. Just sayin.

I second discount auto mirrors. (If you end up getting a set of mirrors without mounting brackets, I have a set I'll sell to you)

Well I just checked discountautomirrors and they have the same mirrors for about $20 cheaper! I wish I would've known about them a week ago:banghead:

Where did you get them from? Did they come with brackets? CSM - do you need brackets? (I've been trying to get rid of my extra set )

Wow thanks guys, just the info I was going for.:hyper: I will study the prices. So the $228.oo set seems to be the least expensive. Are they just plug & play?:thumb1:Dave:thumbup2:

Nope. I have a set on the truck... do you need an extra set of mirrors? :lmao:

If you want power, heated, and have the wiring for it, then as long as you have the brackets then yes, its plug and play.

If you don't have the wiring, get manual mirrors for way less $$$.

I have heated mirrors so that's what I would need correct?

Power and heat? Then get power heated with brackets or make the brackets.

do you need an extra set of mirrors?

I have a set of manual mirrors. Electric ones sure would be nice. :ashamed:

Or buy mine. . . :lmao2:

They are only available in primer & do not include me year, 1998. Wonder if the plug would be different?

Thanks,

Dave

Would you happen to have a pic or two of you mirrors in reg & towing position?

Can't tell from the ad pic if this the correct one.

Thanks,

Dave

Not sure about the plugs, they say they are primered but they are just black plastic identical to the oem mirrors. Here is a pic of mine

I bought some from these guys last week to replace the manual ones and they are very nice... came with all hardware aside from the sheetmetal brackets.

Thanks got mine in the mail a few days ago, have not put them on yet. Still snowing here!!!!!!!!!!!!

They look like a real quality item, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Now that youve had your mirrors for a few weeks how do you like them? Anything you dont like about em? Do they look like the oem style or are they a little different?

I cant speak for CSM, but I have the same ones on mine and am quite satisfied with them. Ther is a little shake at speed, but the visibility is just fine. I don't think they shake anymore than the OE manuals my truck came with. If they do it is not noticeable. IMHO of course.
