my 2001 2500 24 valve auto needs help, when cruising at 90 km and wanting to pass another vehicle, step on the accelerator, truck kicks down, speeds up to 100 km or so then falls on its face rpms go to governor but truck wont increase speed any more, have to pull back in behind, any suggestions

Read codes, fill out you signature so we know all mods done to the truck. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If so what psi do you have to the pump? Sounds like your transmission not holding the power maybe??

Yep sounds like a dead injection pump. Like said above, need to read codes and check fuel pressure

I would check both fuel pressure and error codes and figure out what is causing limp mode? Over Boost?

I hope you figure it out with the codes.

New raptor pump, running 14 psi, no codes, super chip( tried all settings), 4" exhaust, cold air filter, fuel psi guage. Guys, it seems like the truck will only go so fast when it kicks down to third and hits govenor, but will not upshift to 4th and pick up more speed.

When was the last time you  checked/replaced your  fuel and  air filter?

 

Is it  smoking  when it's  'against the wall'

How did you check codes? How long did you run old pump before you replaced with raptor? Is the raptor running? I have seen many times that people replace the lp and all the sudden the injection pump goes bad.

I would also try setting the super chip back to the stock setting and totally removing it. I have heard of superchips causing very odd issues before. Have you had the tranny serviced lately?

If your engine is making power and just won't shift into fourth, it sounds like a transmission problem??

Sounds like the TC to me...

  sounds like TC or a plugged trans filter. when was the last time the trans fluid was changed or filter changed?

Transmission serviced, oil and filter, and bands adjusted 3000 km ago, fresh fuel and oil filter, had codes checked 800 km ago at injection shop, no codes showing on reader, old fuel pump was changed when pressure started dropping to 6-7 psi, never had starting issues, raptor working good , could this be a shift point issue, like why does the truck not upshift to 4th when pedal is on the floor, shift great from 0-120 kmh if you accelerate  normally, just wont upshift when you have your foot hard in it

I agree. Sounds like the kick down is adjusted to far. Not letting it actually get into the next gear.

is there a post on kick down adjustment? I checked search, but couldn't find one

To me, it sounds like it goes into 3rd lockup and does not unlock. Hence why you rev high but dont go faster, cause your not shifting...
