You guys got to check this out...

Below article is from...

http://www.dieselbombers.com/alternative-fuels-additives-fluids/953-2-stroke-oil-thread-13.html#post482310

After calling back the military testing facility in Manching, bavaria I got some interesting news.

-It doesn't matter what kind of Diesel engine 2-stroke oil is added. It is designed as an lubrication and cleaning aid. It burns itself cleaner than Diesel.

-recommended mixture is 1:200 down to 1:250. A higher mixture will devlop blue smoke again.

- Use of 2-stroke oil is demanded, when not knowing the source of Diesel or assuming impurities or dilluted Diesel.

This is what every 2 stroke oil manufacturer claims:

Think about it!

- Outstanding wear protection

Extended life for critical engine parts

- Enhanced frictional properties

Improved fuel economy

- Excellent thermal and oxidation stability

Exceptional engine cleaning power resulting in extended valve life, reduced ring sticking, piston tightening and elimination of pre-ignition problems

- Excellent corrosion protection properties

Longest engine life

- Eliminates pre-ignition

Maximises fuel efficiency and extends piston life

- Smoke-free exhaust

Cleaner environment

Why should a mixture of 1:50 in a gasoline engine be worse than a mixture of 1:200 in a Diesel just beeing needed as a lubing aid?

Being at the official demanded saftey inspection caused the safety officer to shook his head and to run the test twice. Emissions are 57% better than the last time. The ten year old engine is now as good as a modern engine equipped with a DPF.

This shows again that 2-stroke oil is so bad for the engine...

I too find it interesting... But I don't see a exhaust brake in your sig, and that was the only place I saw issues.. and only becuase I have a back pressure gauge.. otherwise I wouldn't have had issues, nor known about the one I had... As far as EGT's.. .I run about the same... I was referring to accelerating.. cruise I cool off, but the lower airflow on the 3rd gens allows them to warm up pretty easy at low load/low boost. For me to get EGT's above 1100 when towing I have to be in 4th or 5th and really pulling hard at rpms above 2500. I don't know that I have ever done it in 6th... So we see about the same.

Yup, I don't have an E-brake. Sometimes I wish I did when it's really cold here. Even with my homemade winter front, it takes a fair bit of time before I reach normal operating temps. I'm also the same, EGT's go up accelerating.......especially if I'm in to high a gear and need to downshift!!!!! Level ground, even in crazy hot weather, these Cummins cool down nicely. I'll say this again also.........when you've torn apart as many chainsaws and outboards as I have, you'd be amazed at how clean the innerds of properly running 2 stroke engines are. The ones that are not running properly, for whatever reason are all carboned up..........but you see the same in poorly running 4 stroke also!!!:smart:

Then you haven't torn apart one with a power valve. My power valves always gets pretty nasty on my 2-stroke bikes. I always run 40:1 Amsoil. The rest of the motor is always clean as a whistle though.

doesn't AMSOil suggest half as much 2 cycle per dose? So if the engine normal takes 40:1 with petroluem arn't you suppose to reduce to 80:1 ratio with AMSOil???

can u use any kind of 2 cycle oil. ive been using what walmart sells its synthetic but i can get a non synthetic for free would that work as good

As long as it is ashless it should work fine. I pour 1oz per gallon of the walmart super-tech religiously with no problems. Been doing it for several years and dont plan on stopping anytime soon.:smart:

Synthetic is not required.Synthetic is a double edge sword being that synthetics don't have a ash problem. But since synthetics are naturally wax free there is no pour point depressants used so synthetics will not aid in the colder weather it will still gell up.

What brand of two stroke oil should i use and how much? I just heard about this and i am interested to start using it!
