Guys

Didn't know where to put this post, trailer/RV or here.  Sorry if this is the wrong place but I am thinking about installing an exhaust brake on my 2000 dodge 3/4 ton.  Looking for suggestions on which one to get.  I already have a Banks 4inch exhaust with the power elbow.  Thinking about a BD or a Pacbrake.  Any thoughts?

I have a PacBrake on my gen 3 with auto and it has worked well.  I installed the model that fits in place of the elbow off the turbo to the downpipe.  Nice and compact and stays up out of road debris and winter slush and ice.

Don't have one on my gen 2 but Pacbrake has a model that would install there also.

I've kinda been leaning toward the pacbrake but I need to find out if they make their elbow to fit a 4in exhaust.  I know they have one that fits down stream in the exhaust pipe that is 4in but I'm concerned the farther down stream in the exhaust would delay braking.  Got to get on the phone I guess.  Tax return will go toward this.

Pac brake makes one that goes where your power elbow is now (right off the back of the turbo) assuming you have a stock HX or HY turbo then it would work for you. If you have an upgraded turbo that uses an HX40 down pipe you can get it as an in line unit and it will install just below the turbo.

All of the the exhaust, turbo, on the engiine is stock except for the 4 turbo back exhaust pipes.  It is a 5 speed manual so that makes things a little easier also.

Did the new exhaust replace the cast elbow that comes off the back of the turbo? If not, then getting one that would replace that elbow would be best.

Ya the kit came with a new elbow to fit the 4in pipe.  I don't think I would that much performance by using the Pacbrake elbow..

The pxrb pacbrakethat bolts to the turbo mounts to a 4 inch exhaust pipe.

for the auto guy you will need to force the trans into lock up

Also if your get the PacBrake lock up controller it will help with this but you need to modify the valve body to get 2nd gear lock up other than that all you get is 3rd and 4th gear lockup.

The Pac comes with it, you can enable the 2nd gear lock up when you change the Pac computer programming by cycling the keys.

But you want something to keep your life pressure up, as well as lock up.
