48re won't move
Sadly I'm not sure. I would say its time to pull the entire transmission out and check the clutches and bands. How many miles on the transmission? Any error codes or check engine light? When was the last time it was serviced (fluid change and filter)? With the 46RE, 47RE and 48RE are basically the A727 transmission with an upgrade of 4th gear. Now that being said, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears are all hydrualic shifts. THe 4th gear is "E"lectric shift. If there is no movement, I would start with pressure testing to see if the pump is producing enough pressure. You might want to stop by the DDownload section grab a service manual. 46RE, 47RE and 48RE 4 gears forward 6,7, or 8 the amount of torque on a scale of 0 to 9 Rear wheel drive Electric 4th gear shift. Here is my transmission book for the 48RE.

Beast - 500k miles - Projects
Today I managed to get the passenger side shaft out. I ran down to Steve Crump Service Center in Riggins hoping to use his torch to cut the trunion out of the shaft. That way the cap just need to be driven through (inward) to get the caps out. The other part of this trick is the cap has been heated by the torch and the expansion of heat hopefully broke the caps free. Sadly Steve's torch was not working correctly and the cutting part of the torch not getting enough oxygen to cut I think the nozzle was plugged up partially. I got rained out and returned home and inside to stay warm.

Beast - 500k miles - Projects
Thanks. I need to do the wheel joint super bad right now, the passenger side shaft is starting to wobble in the axle tube. Yeah, super good on the bearings and seals. Yeah, I know, but when you've been living off of 3 figures (small), you can't afford to buy much at times for repairs. Most of this was supposed to be done last year when I was shutting down the shop to the public for the winter, then CANCER for 2023 Christmas, and blew the entire priority list, and all went on hold. Then, toss in the mudslide and no tools for over 4 months, and trying to do even a brake job on the rear axle was super difficult without proper sockets or tools. Most of my funds went ot keeping me alive with food and fuel to make my chemo treatments. Everything stopped for Beast and Thor. I want to focus strictly on the website from here on out. I want to return to what I enjoy doing, even if it's just website work. I'm fine with that. Just yesterday's attempt at getting Thor's injectors out has me hurting pretty good in my lower back and hips. Yeah, I've lost a lot of strength from being laid up, and my ability to work for long hours is over. I cannot do 8 to 10-hour days any longer. 3-4 hours is pushing it. I cheat at times at get friends like Mark Hall to do some of the grunt work, pulling tires and heavy stuff to keep me safe. If I to lean over the front radiator support is hard on me because of my stoma location, and so easy to puncture my ostomy bag, which I did last week. Yeah to start walking around and wonder why your right pant leg is getting wet. Ugh! Being I lost the ATV in the landslide, we opted to keep me in a heated cab of a pickup to plow snow from the driveway. This is why I need to do the wheel joints on Beast because after we get the plow blade hardware, Beast will be used to keep the driveway cleared this winter. I wanted to use Thor, but Thor is going to need an engine rebuild in time since it has one bad cylinder for piston rings. (Ugh!) Yeah, this is so much to do with both trucks this fall, it's insane. Just remember, I lost EVERYTHING in that landslide (tools, supplies, parts, special tools, etc.) Then in the meantime @Tweety Bird and I are still trying to catch a break and get married yet!

Linux PC's and Linux Servers
For all you guys and gals that wish to learn about Linux Servers and PC's, I'm going to help anyone learn this environment. Thankfully, I've got a few supporters who helped out in purchasing 2 new workstations and a Server. WORKSTATIONS ASUS Motherboard 7G WiFi (6G WiFi Head here in the house) 2.5 GBit CAT6 ready networking Thunderbolt 3 Port 30 GBit USB port (Type C) nVidia Video Card (32 GB) AI Ready 4 TB M.2 SSD Hard drive 1,000 Watt Power Supply 27" Flat screen montor Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Desktop series) SERVERS ASUS Motherboard 7G WiFi (6G WiFi Head here in the house) 2.5 GBit CAT6 ready networking Thunderbolt 3 Port 30 GBit USB port (Type C) 4x 4 TB M.2 SSD Hard drive 1,000 Watt Power Supply Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS Software No video card (Using on Board HDMI port) SERVER CONTROLLED Canon MF4150 Laser Printer (Network black printer) HP Officejet Color Printer (Network Color printer) TPLink Network Switch (28 Port PoE - 250 Watt PoE) 2 Security Cameras Verizon Cell Signal Extender 6G Indoor WiFi 5G Outdoor WiFi Starlink INTERNET PROVIDER Starlink Now, as for the setup of these workstation machines. The two workstations were assembled with hardware and loaded up with standard Ubuntu 24.04 LTS software. These machines are quiet in noise level and run at very cool temperatures even under heavy workload. Now both workstations are set up to back up all data to the server once a week. No loss of important data. I can even pair my phone to the workstation, so when there are cell phone calls it will show up on my desk monitor and allow me to respond to even text messages right on the PC. Being that it is Linux, there aren't any drivers to load for any of this stuff; everything just works out of the box, typically. I did run into a startup issue where the motherboard picked the HDMI port but refused to use the common DisplayPort. Then Ubuntu made an error and used the freeware version of video drivers instead of the nVidia driver supplied by Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. After a small setting tweak on the additional drivers page in settings, it now works fine. These two workstations are now capable of processing heavy content like video editing, which my 20-year-old desktop couldn't even play a video file from my phone without hanging and glitching out. I'm capable of moving heavy tasks like backup or internet workloads to the server. So instead of calling for a full website backup on my desktop, choking the browser with heavy network traffic, I can move this task over to the server and let it run in the background. Now our workstations are freed of the heavy workloads. My network here at the house is powered by Starlink Internet, which has plenty of bandwidth to handle everything for a good price. As for my server cabinet. Just seems like there is an idle machine sitting there. Not true! This machine is constantly recording any movement in my yard, day or night. We have video feed of anything that moves out there, including the bugs that trip the cameras at night. As for network traffic being I'm using a managed switch I'm capable of load balancing the internet to over 50 devices all at once. I've set up a network that only the 3 family members have full access to everything here, including both printers, cameras, and even personal cloud storage on my server. This machine runs 24/7, providing the internet for the Verizon Extender. There is a public WiFi account that is without a password for others to use at any time. If you have Verizon service, you can hop on the extender without WiFi and still make a 4G LTE phone call. In my area, with a landslide. Many people are without a landline phone in the area. Yup, Ziply Fiber has been notified several times by all 3 of us here and both of my neighbors. Most people around me switched to Starlink per my advice and continued phone service based on Starlink WiFi. I want to offer up my knowledge on networking to people that would like to build something more than internet and PC. Asny questions just ask!

Beast - 500k miles - Projects
I'm sorry, gang, I've been randomly missing in action from time to time, but with everything going on, it's tough to be at home for long periods, then when I'm home, to get wrapped up with the dirt work all this last summer. Winter weather is coming, I need a 4wd truck! With winter setting in, @Tweety Bird and I will be home more! Cancer-wise wise I'm doing well, 1.5 years clean of cancer. Beast made the 500k milestoneNow Beast is going to require some work to get fixed up, being I've abused the old truck for a while, being short on funds during my cancer treatment. I've got a list of things I need to do, and I want to get busy with a little bit of funds to fix Beast. The crazy part is that this week is going to be off and on rain showers. I got to work in the rain. Still to this day, I do not have a shop and no dry space yet. This is another project task. Personally, @Tweety Bird and I are attempting to unpack the garage of @Tweety Bird stuff so I can have dry space to work on the vehicles to keep them running. Front axle wheel joints New tires (245/ 75 R16) Fix the hydraulic leak (power steering) Fix my transmission temp gauge Properly install my dash camera Install my upgraded high idle kit from DAP Front and rear main seals of the crank Replace the dash top and dash bezel Repair my driver's seat edge (torn) Replace the rear bumper (crushed on the passenger side) Repair the body damage on the rear passenger side (dummy me hit a dumpster backing up one night) Fisher V-Plow snow blade for Beast (since the landslide destroyed my ATV and plow blade)

2006 Dodge Ram 3500 - Thor Project
After a weekend of testing I still have a very random grid heater light once again. I did find that the crossover tube nut on #2 was either missing while I torque them to value or it backed off during the last cycle. I'm not sure why or how but it happened. So to cover my tail, DAP told me to send them back for testing. Yesterday I got 1 through 5 removed and got to crawl up carefully and get number 6 done with the hoist ring and injection line removed. I'll get those boxed up today and get them heading back.

Starting Over
Ever since the landslide that wiped out my shop, displaced my good friend Mark Hall and his dog Hachi into my basement bedroom. It's been complete hell trying to find tools that remain and attempting to repair vehicles and house repairs, too. It's been a bad summer, and it just seems to get worse here at home, and frustrating. Winter is coming, and snow is not far away now. Just want to close this chapter and attempt a better start in the spring of the year. The last few months have been a pain in the tail. Asking people to go get firewood, and we will pay them. Then have one person who brought 2 cords at $200 a cord. Great, we have a bit of firewood. Sadly this person knew me and played my heartstrings and asked if I would front him the money so he could be with his family in the hospital. Of course I did! Sucker!!! I've been taken advantage of again! He never delivered the promised 3 cords of wood. There is so much more to even talk about. Simply put, it has just been a rough year between having bladder cancer, losing my bladder and prostate, then having the mudslide destroy my shop and guest house. I'm hoping Dischinger can help out just one more time to blade a driveway for me, and so I can mark off my septic tanks and hopefully keep people off the top of my tanks this winter. The yard is a total mud pit for now. That's fine too, because I don't even have a lawn to mow right now. It's all been trashed by the trackhoe and skidsteer. I still have a huge pile of dirt and garbage to sort through in time. Let me toss in a bit of good news. @Tweety Bird and I will be getting married, which was supposed to happen this summer, but the entire landslide and house move ruined that timing. We as planning on a simple courthouse wedding for now to get the legal parts done with. Hopefully, God willing, we will have the celebration up on Heaven Gate Summit by next summer. Second bit of good news, my kidneys are healing very slowly, and some of the herbal stuff I've found is helping heal them up. There is a bit more... Finally, after a lot of hassle with Home Depot, I could replace my toolbox and get a base set of tools. I'll admit the price of tools is expensive to start over this way. Ugh! The first order I made didn't work out, and I had to rebuild the order a second time, and the shipping cost doubled. I called Home Depot to get them to help out with building the second order. Ok, everything is waiting to ship. Shipping starts, and the toolbox was last. Finally, we get a phone call for Home Depot. They wanted to inform me that the toolbox was damaged and they are willing to cut some price off and just sell it to me. Then, 2 hours later, I got a second call to inform me that the toolbox was too badly damaged to sell, so they canceled the order and refunded the funds. We ended up heading to Lewiston, ID, to deal with this. Sadly, it wasn't don't good at the start, but we got the manager to step up and reorder the toolbox for me. As for Thor, I'm going to start working on the project truck and start to hopefully build information for CR engines.

2006 Dodge Ram 3500 - Thor Project
Long intermission... I return! After a lot of phone calls, a trip to Lewiston, ID, and waiting for freight. I finally got a toolbox and my base set of tools. Finally got to look Thor over and figure out the grid heater light issue. So I was pulling injectors, and #2 crossover nut was backed up to the injection line. I figure reassemble and try again, hoping I solved the issue this time. Nope, after 70 to 100 miles, it will trip the grid heater light. I gave Lenny a quick call, and he still wants them sent back for inspection.

1998.5 Power loss and shorts to ground.
His video has the classic touch the throttle jumps to high idle with zero control. Typically a bad PSG being the data is not reaching the PSG correctly and is being dropped. This is confirmed with the P1689 code. Throttle info not being listen too since it started and runs this shows the power is available but no data from the ECM.

Time for truck's AC summer check up
Same here. I was referring to @yohon that is running 2-way valves to keep water flowing or shut off. People who race these trucks don't worry about heater cores and A/C most race trucks don't even have a dash. Yeah, I'll keep this broken dash truck and keep going.

Time for truck's AC summer check up
It's worth remembering that when racing a Cummins, most will ditch the heater core circuit altogether.
