i bet your waste gate is seazed shut mine was after freeing it up it seazed up again next year so i said the hell with it, but a lot of people do overlook fluid levels i would at least check it and make sure it's full. a lot easier than takeing tranny out to rebult it for a stupid bearing fail. but why do you shift so high on rpm what are you pulling a house? i shift at about 2000-2200 with 10k total towing waight sometimes less.

chek your tranny fluid make sure it's full, local tranny shop told me some manual trannys have fill holes drined to low and told me to top it off and then drive it on some blocks so tranny fill hole is higher than fluid and dump another half a qwart in there. i almoust got a whole qwart in there 2 years ago and had no problems leaking anywhere. he said that one of the bearings isn't in the fluid and it gets cooked prematurly, i figured if i had too much fluid in mine it would runn out of the vent. so far no problems. but you might want to get another opinoin on that.

Can I run 5W-40 Synthetic Oil in a '99 24v?
i ran 5-40 mobil for 2 years and now swiched to 15-40 ams oil with bipass kit supposed to be good to 25k and 60 k with sample, but i only put 5k a year on it my truck is 2002 2500 6 spd, with ams oil and bypass after 1k it's still clean and with 5-40 mobil after 500ml starts to get darker. i think 15-40 has more zddp in it for non emmision trucks.

i realy don't know about warm or cold by the time i worm it up and hook trailer and get to hwy its fully wormed up, but just driving it in colder weather does seem to run better, but i think its from air being dense, i did put new batteries lust year with all new conectors soldered in. that's why im kind of thinking vp is going but i get 20mpg on hwy and 15-16 city with bigger injectors oversized tires, that's why i think its not internals but rather electrical. if it's electrical then the only thing i heard is transistor going bad, but then again would i have codes for it or not. and what does that transistor control? a fuel silinoid maybe, if so i can see it beeing a problem, then all i got to do is take cover of vp and see if anything is cooked.:banghead:

i put new apps from timbo and it didn't change anything, and i did try cruse on at that speed and also no luck, but thank you for the input! - - - Updated - - - yea i tried just about everithing with it even unpluged it und pluged map sensor back the way it's supposed to be, as far as truck could tell there was no qwad box on it and it still diit it, just not as notisble i think qwad makse problem worse but don't think it's problem. i talket to jermy at qwad and he said that my box is resent enought has the latest softwere and bla bla bla and thats why i tryed unplugin it becose i don't always belive salesmen. but hi did give some good info. so anyway i'm thinking about poping that cover on vp to see if transistor or somthing else is fried. but would like to try other thing first. thanks!

anybody else has any ideas on my surge problem? and just had it scaned with a better scaner snap on and had a 0500 code but not worying about that one. how do i know if transistor in vp ecm is bad? will i have some codes for it or should i pop cover of off vp and visualy see if anithing is mellted off. drove it today after playing with air dog and got pressure to 21 idle 15 wot has all kinds of power and hit 3k rpm with no problems or serges, just defuels after gets to 1250f temp, but it never realy cut out or surged before just driving seem to only notice it when pulling somthing on steady speed anything over 65mph. just out of blue starts to miss, and after all the time and money we all have put in our trucks id like to just enjoiy it for once with no stupid problems. my wife thinks im wasting time but she don't know anybetter.

Strange AirDog pressures?
i have a stupid question, how much pressure can air dog 150 put out if lets say i plugged check ball hole off, and how long would it last that way, if fuel could still be returned through pressure line so it doesn't burn out pumping against a brick wall "figurative spich" . i don't know where i'm going with this but i guess maybe thinking by increasing pressure on AD will it not last as long ?

Thanks for the advice, i'll weight a few weeks and see what it does, it does make me fell better now at wot before it would go to 8 and now stays 15-16, i'm starting to think maybe it wasn't just washer i added but could of been a small piece of crap on that ball and by flipping it around to a better surface it seals better. i thought that washer was to thin to make that kind of difference and i only used one and not tow like in these pictures. anyway thanks again:thumbup2:

i couldn't wait so i went outside and got lucky one the first try, took fitting off and here comes spring and ball. didn't realize it's plastic, there was imprint from sring on one end and another imprint from the side it closes on. i fliped it around to the other side , looked like had a better siling surface. and put a small washer in there, took it for a ride and now it's 20-22 at idle 18-19 driving normal, and with qwad turned up on custom tune drops to 15-16 wot and by that time it's starts to defuel itself. i guess i herd different story on max pressure some say 20 and others 25. i dont know if i should take washer out and send it down a bit or waight for things to sit in place. any thoughts?

Strange AirDog pressures?
i'm having some kind of problem too i think. seems that everyones pressure with new 150 air dog about 18-20 mine idels at 14-15 wot 10-12 and just driving anywhere between 13-17 , also tried wix fuel filter instead of ad but it's like 5 microns or somthing and my pressure went up 2psi but i didn't want to leave it on there too long so i'm back to 2 microns. and when it gets cold i luse 2 psi or so . should i shim my spring ? and how many people do that ? it makes sience to restrick return so it build more pressure. Thanks for any help.

hi there, i got a 150 air dog and my pressure is 14-15 idle 16 driving and 10-12 wot with qwad box turned up on stock level wot 12, i think it's a little too low, but then on the pump it says 15 psi shoul i put some washers in it, and which line is it that has ball and spring? thank you in advance! ps. when it gets cold here i lose about 2-3 psi all around but after driving a bit comes back up.

the only gauge i have is from pulse2 monitor that came with qwad box i had to buy fuel pressure sensor and it is after filters before vp on idle it's usuly betwen 14-16 and it realy doesn't change much , only at wot drops to 12 or so. and the codes i did chech with the key trick. i had a code 500 but i think it's from spinning tires last winter. i did change my apps last year trying to figure this out, got it from timbo with instactions.

Hi, I just joined this site but had visited it for a while now. Lots of good info,Thank you!!! I have found similar threads related to my issue, but seems like thread ends before the problem is resolved or 99% of the time everybody narrow it down to junk vp. I got a 2002, 2500, 6spd, 4x4, qwd cab, with 130k, air dog, 100hp injectors, 3.55 gears, qwad with pulse, 5" pipe, Problem I'm having is driving on highway over 65mph pulling a trailer(rated 14k gross but about 8-10k total) at steady speed , when going up hill truck starts to surge but not much it's noticeable enough to know there is a problem. And if i turn up the fuel box up it gets worse. so it tells me it's fuel related. i got this truck a few years ago, and previous owner has changed vp under warranty, and at that time he put air dog, it may have 30k on pump. i change fuel filter once a year, but only put about 3-5k ml on it a year. other than that it runs relay good starts right up has plenty of power. i thought maybe it could be that transistor in vp but nut sure if i should have codes or can it be bad and not have codes. Any help would be highly appreciated!
