Got a ScanGaugeIl
Hard part is that so far the information its provided is interesting but it won't effect my driving habits. I can't control need to stop at stop signs or lights and the other killer of mileage is hills.

Got a ScanGaugeIl
Drove around today without trailer. 19.3 mpg. What I've noticed is that I keep gaining mpg until I have to stop. Then the cycle goes downward again. Be interesting to see what happens when i actually get on the freeway for a distance. Mpg seem to be better when you keep the Rpms a bit higher. Lugging nets poor mpg.

Radio trouble
Is there a way to test the input at the speakers of evaluate if the speaker is the problem or if it's wiring?

Church web stuff
I'm no web master, but I am getting us set up for electronic giving. Text to give, online and a kiosk. It's a process, but not too difficult. I have 6'kids between 19 and 28. They all have checking accounts and debit cards but none of them write or have checks. This is a reality of the kids these days. Everything is electronic. So I think we will see offerings at church jump, as a segment of the population will feel comfortable with this form of giving. We have a lot of young families. Hoping to increase giving through a means that they work with.

Radio trouble
Radio went in fast. Spent more time doing other things while the face was off the dash. Got the indicator light wired for the high idle fooler. Also removed the clear plastic on the gauge cluster and got the dust and fir needles out and all cleaned. Still have 2 speakers not working. Left front and right rear. I'll tackle this soon. I was able to wire the fooler ground and ignition wires right into the new radio wiring. The wires were labeled, so it was pretty easy.

Teardown and Rebuild
The picture makes it look boxier than it really is. Adding a grill guard which is round tube will also help.

How often must I donate?
There are some perks for you if you give certain amounts at one shot. Such as advertising ability for personal business @ $100 if I recall.

As I'm evaluating the mileage more, I do pretty good until I hit stop signs and hills. Acceleration kills me. So my mileage compared to others may be a function of terrain. I was at 17 before I hit a grade and some stop and go. So averaging 14 may not be that bad. I go into town and make probably 10 stops a day at various locations. I'm anxious to make a road trip without the trailer. I know I hand calculated 21.88 before I had the canopy on without a trailer. Maybe I'm underestimating the weight too. I need to find a scale.

Daily donations are appreciated. set up for a donation each time you visit. $100 or so would work. Just messin with you. Hope Michael got you covered.

Are you sure you don't have a warped rotor?

CPP has them for $599. Got mine when it was $499. Came out pretty sweet.

I'm running 50 + hp injectors. Maybe I'll try to get someone to set me on economy smarty setting and see what it does before buying.

Would a smarty help me with my mpg? What else for the cost of the smarty would help?

Got a ScanGaugeIl
I'm towing a 2,500# utility trailer and my canopy sits about a foot above the cab. Trailer made of expanded steel so probably little air drag. Plus I carry around 500# of tools and materials in the truck bed. Combination of country roads, and freeway seems to be giving average MPG of 14.1, which matches up pretty well with calculated at the pump. Is 14.1MPG fairly represented for my truck, or does it seem low?

Teardown and Rebuild
Yeah, get a good bumper to protect that engine investment! Deer can total a truck if it gets into the engine compartment.

I did the vent mod at 150,000 miles and have not yet had the radiator out for cleaning. Could be plugged. What are your favorite things to monitor with your ScanGauge?

Radio trouble
I could match up all the wires coming out of the radio harness to (2) larger harnesses supplied by Crutchfield. One black and one grey. So will I find 2 harness ends behind the radio? Hope so.

Got a ScanGaugeIl
I had a check engine light come on. Been threatening to buy a ScanGauge, so since I had no way to read or delete codes I bought one today. Popped a P0234...boost too high code. I had just passed a truck on a grade, the transmission kicked down to lockup out of overdrive. If I had control id not let it kick down. So I know when it happened. Good news is that's the only code that had been stored. That's a relief. Now I'm working on calibrating and playing with various settings. Do you think the boost reading is accurate? Says 13 at idle. Water temp fluctuates quite a bit. 188-212* in town stop and go. So maybe indicates that my radiator can't keep up with temperature spikes? Or just a thermostat delay?

Radio trouble
Any advice on wiring of the radio. Will it be clear when I get the old radio out? They gave me a black and one grey plug. Hopefully there will be a matching color in the radio slot.

Thinking again about 47re to nv4500 swap
Well I'd likely tow my RV behind my truck rather than a donor truck. Just gotta be organized. Don't get too excited. Based on time of year, it'll probably not happen till next spring. Smarty sounds like a good way to go. Prolly do an exhaust brake too. Half the fun of a manual transmission.

Thinking again about 47re to nv4500 swap
Maybe I can get the parts together and Michael and I could do it at his shop and document the process.

They are pretty cheap. Just screw on to the end of your hose and leave it for when you need it.
