Quadzilla Adrenaline
I am just so far invested in iTunes at this point! My phone is also work issued, and I have another year before I can request a change in device.

Well dang. I guess I have a decision to make. Did either of of you guys use the stealth cover to connect your wire taps? Not sure if it is worth the extra money or not. I want to make sure that I get the best connection, but don’t like wasting money if there is no benefit.

That may actually be the best option for me. So even though my iPhone is BT capable, it won’t connect to the iQuadBT? I guess I just don’t understand why it would not connect. I would love to be able to buy one and use whichever device worked out better for me.

Quadzilla Adrenaline
Thanks for the quick reply! I have a BT head unit in my truck that I use for phone calls and music. Would I still be able to use it and be connected? It shounds like if I am not using the Quad for gauges, it may be a non issue, but will it still log data if it not connected constantly? And without the egt connection I assume that the turbo cool down timer would not function? When the Quad comes, will it have factory tunes installed, or will I need to build totally custom tunes? I see in some places it says it has 10 power levels, but would I need to build up tunes for those 10 levels, or are they pre-loaded?

Quadzilla Adrenaline
I think it is time for me to make the jump to a more capable tuning box. I have decided that the Adrenaline is the way to go, mostly from lurking and reading all the great information on this forum. I have a few questions. Is there any difference in the iQuad and the iQuadbt? I know one is for iPhone and the other for android, but is there any other difference? My phone is an iPhone, but would it be beneficial to get an android device to keep in the truck? I have never used a wire tap box. Is the stealth plate a good purchase? I want to do the wire tap once and know it’s done right. Since I am running on the stock turbo, I have blocked the WG off to let the turbo build boost. With the smarty and injectors, I have been building 34lbs max. I assume with the extra fuel that I will need to get an adjustable boost elbow to keep from over driving the turbo. Is there one that you guys prefer over another? I would like to set it around 32lbs or so for now until I head studs and get a bigger turbo. Will the Adrenaline come with all of the probes or sensors that it requires? I have a full set of mechanical gauges that I would like to keep. Will the Adrenaline still be able to monitor everything it needs to do it’s job? Installing a second egt probe is not big deal, but if it can piggyback on the existing, that would be great. I would appreciate a quote quote on all of the things above as well.

Injector Flap on Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum!
I have read the entire thread, and I just don’t understand the venom over there. I have spent ALOT of money with DAP, and I have never been anything but 100% satisfied. Granted, my truck is 24v but DAP has always been great. It looks like there may have been a little confusion on what some customers thought they were buying, but the only real evidence that I saw presented was several customers who got exactly what they paid for, and one customer who didn’t. But in that case, it looks like DAP made it right. I actually came to the vendor area or area to contact Jacob/DAP about yet another purchase. Read that whole thread, and I am still confident that you guys sell great products at a great price. Keep doing what you do. I’m going to start a new thread with some questions on the Quadzilla adr.

NV4500 stuck in 4th gear
Well she actually does good! I made her learn to drive it because a vehicle she can't drive is useless in an emergency!

NV4500 stuck in 4th gear
I thought that I would post a thread just in case anyone ran into the same thing I did. Last week my wife drove my truck to an appointment while I was away on a business trip. She called and said that the truck was stuck in 4th gear and she couldn't get it out. Since I was 4 hours out there was not much I could do. Luckily she kept her cool and got it off of the interstate and into a hotel parking lot. When I got there, I just assumed that it was jammed somehow. No manner of pulling or pushing would free it up. I drove it home in 4th by shifting from 4L to 4H on the transfer case. Pulled the shift tower off to take a look. Apparently the shift tower had worn to the point that the shifter somehow slipped between the gates. The transmission was in 4th, but the shifter was not in the gate. Used a screw driver to put the middle gate back in neutral, and reassembled. The truck shifts great now. My questions: is this common on the NV4500? Should I replace the shift tower now? Anything I can do to avoid it happening again? It was suggested that she might have paused in neutral between 4th and 5th and that caused it but I cannot see how that could be possible. Anyone heard of this happening before?Removing and replacing the shift tower was really easy. I had it reassembled and driving again in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately I did not think to get any pictures!

Manual Swap
The way that I understand it is the ratios are all pretty close. The 6 speed will give you an extra gear between 3rd and 4th. I can tell you when pulling that extra step would be nice when pulling from a stop up a hill. Was not a deal breaker for me though as I have the 5 speed. I don't notice it unless I am towing heavy. I wish I had the actual ratios but I'm sure someone does and will jump in...

Need help with some issues after no. 6 cylinder replacement...
Did they compression test the cylinder that got the makeover? That's a lot of consumption to just sneak up on you! I would expect a ton of smoke if its eating that much oil!!

Fuel mileage update
That is a good looking truck! I would assume that most of your mpg loss is from speed and your lift. The further from the ground the bottom of the truck is the less aerodynamically efficient it will. Also your gearing with those tires could play a big role. On the highway with those tires I would think it would improve mpgs though! Seems like it would lower rpms which should help. Around town in stop and go they will hurt your numbers though. Not sure how much on the diesels since they have additional torque.

New 4" exhaust!
i thought i would give my impressions after a few days of living with this exhaust.it still sounds incredible! i love the way the exhaust barks and the turbo sounds great. after a few highway blasts i can say that there is no drone. with the windows up and the a/c running you can barely even hear it at all unless i stand on it. no problem with hearing the radio over it with the windows down around town either. i would have expected it to be much louder being a straight pipe but i am very happy with the results! it really woke up the throttle response! i donthave an EGT gauge so i cant comment on that, and i havent done any towing with it yet. but over all, the best $200 i have ever spent on the truck! now for some injectors...

New 4" exhaust!
I really wish I had thought of that! The install is all done though! It sounds incredible! I think this is the way that dodge should have done it. You can hear the turbo much better! Also I think that the throttle response is better. But it's hard to tell because I can't seem to keep my foot out of it... But as far as the kit goes, it seems like a really nice quality. Everything lined up on the first try and all of the stock hangers worked just fine. Now for the bad... The stock exhaust was a real P.I.T.A to remove! Apparently over the last decade or so the pipes rusted together and might as well have been welded! Of course I did not have access to a reciprocating saw, so it just took and hour and a half of sweat, hammering, and cussing to get it off. A word of hard earned wisdom, take the turbo down tube out through the top. It's much easier! If I had to do it again I would go buy a saw. But I would highly recommend this kit. Once I got to the install it only took about 20 minutes to get it all clamped together. I will try to get some pics up tomorrow, it's raining at the moment.

New 4" exhaust!
I will be installing today! After having it out with UPS they finally delivered it! That is the third package I have had difficulties with! But I will post up some pictures later today.

Remanufactured VP44 Pump
I can tell you I got mine from Diesel Auto Power and have been really happy. I got the IP and FRRP for $1260 delivered. God forbid I have to do it again, I would buy from them again. Great customer service and fast shipping. Not a certified rebuilder but my pump has about 8k on it and I am very satisfied.

New 4" exhaust!
Ya there may be cheaper options out there for the tail pipe that is just the one that I knew of. I know I checked around to see if I could find a shop to bend me one. There was a shop that had originally told me that they would build me one for about $300. Went back to talk to them and found out the didn't have a 4" bender, they were just going to order a kit and assemble it. Figured I would cut out the middle man. But in case anyone is looking for a custom bent exhaust like I was, that shop and another told me it is nearly impossible to find a shop that will fabricate 4". Apparently the bender for pipe that big runs about $100k. A standard bender that will do up to 3" is about $10k. So it's just not economical for them to keep the equipment for the occasional diesel truck.

New 4" exhaust!
This is for the 98.5-02 tail pipe: http://www.xtremediesel.com/magnaflowdodgeindividual4pipeprofiles.aspx At 114 it's not too bad but I would just go ahead and upgrade! The cost for a whole exhaust is not much more than that.

New 4" exhaust!
You can buy just the tail pipe section from XDP. I don't really recall the pricing but I wouldn't think it would be too bad. Any place that sells diesel parts should be able to get it for you. It will be basically from the muffler back I believe

New 4" exhaust!
Oh ok I thought I had read somewhere that the stock was 4". But that is still an increase over stock. For anyone running a 4" straight pipe, how loud is it? Should I be concerned about noise?
-
New 4" exhaust!
Good to hear! I don't think the smaller down pipe will be a problem. The stock down pipe is 4" to the resonator isn't it? Maybe I just use the stock down pipe instead. The kit says no tip. Does that mean that it is shortened to allow for a tip? Or is it like the stock exhaust that just exits out with no tip? Trying to decide if I need to buy one

New 4" exhaust!
Ya I am hoping that its a decent kit. If not I should be able to make something work. But I'm hoping that since its magna flow maybe it will be decent.

New 4" exhaust!
I ordered my new exhaust yesterday and wanted to tip everyone off to a good deal. I ordered from extreme diesel performance and got a magna flow 4" aluminized pipe turbo back for $190! It was originally $207 but I used a promo code for an additional 10% off. It should be here Thursday according to the ups tracking. I will post pics when I get it installed. No muffler on this one so I will have to wait and see how loud it is. I work on military bases though and I'm not sure if they will like it as much as I do.

4" Exhaust
Well there are exhaust shops that do them. There is one near me that will do a custom 4" SS w/o muffler for a little over 300
