  1. This is my setup. I didn't bother with a mount but it does move! I will be looking into something to fix this. Also be sure to cover the AC line. Mine was not rubbing at first but after a few thousand miles its starting to wear. Check out Car Quest when you start shopping. The had the WIX filter for $30. Can't remember the part number off hand...
  2. Yep maybe mike or one of the guys with some photos will chime in. I would pull off the intake elbow and take a look at the turbo.
  3. The oil from the cotton filter will get sucked onto the compressor wheel of your turbo and gum it up. It will collect all the contaminates and glue them to the turbo.
  4. Glad you got it sorted out!
  5. I will see if I can get out and do some looking and maybe get some pictures. It should not be too hard to trace back.
  6. Well I would trouble shoot the factory harness rather than splice in again. But that's just my opinion. Might check and see if the factory trailer pig tail is on the wiring harness with plugs. It might be possible to replace the entire factory trailer light harness. Not sure though because I didn't have to dig in that far. Someone else may be able to jump in with more information...
  7. Yes it does look like you have the factory plug. I can only assume that someone spliced it in the past due to a problem with the factory socket. A multi-tester would probably give you the answers you need though.
  8. This is my factory plug and the replacement that I got for it.
  9. The last time I towed, I had no lights at the trailer. I had voltage at the pins but it was to low. I ended up going to Oreillys and getting a new socket. It was plug and play with the trucks factory harness. It even came with a 7 pin and 4 pin plug so no more 7-4 adapter for me! For $34 you really can't go wrong. It fixed all of my problems.
  10. Did you have any issues with pitting?
  11. Is that like an etching primer? I was wondering about using something similar but wondered if it would make the aluminum look pitted? But if it ever comes off it wasn't that much work...
  12. Well I know that the previous owner was not the easiest on the truck! My wife's grandfather drove it from the time it rolled off the lot to the day they took his keys as a farm truck. He used it mainly for transporting cows and feed. Also not the most studious about maintenance schedules.
  13. Well I finally managed to get the valve cover done last weekend. Pulled it off, scraped all the old paint off and used a wire wheel to clean it all up. Wiped it down with denatured alcohol to clean all of the oil and grime off. I sprayed it black with Oreillys rattle can high heat black enamel. My intention was to paint the lettering red like above. I took a sanding block and took the black off of the raised portions to prep for red. At that point it looked so good I decided to just polish the bare aluminum and leave it! It turned out really well! I am glad I had the pressure washer mishap now!Another note: I was very surprised by how clean everything was when I pulled off the valve cover! I would have guessed the truck had but maybe 10k on it by the look of the top of the head. Absolutely no build-up or gunk in there at all. With almost 200k I would have expected a good amount of sludge to have accumulated.
  14. I know that this thread has been done to death, but i just came back from a weekend trip and thought i would post up my fuel mileage report.Approx. 300 miles each wayRunning south at 76mph with a pretty stiff head wind i averaged 17.22 miles per gallon at approx. 2200rpmheaded back north at 64mph with no wind to speak of i averaged 22.35 miles per gallon at approx. 1800rpmi am happy with these numbers but they can always improve! the speed is obviously a huge factor on the economy, but i would like to do injectors and larger exhaust in the near future. any thoughts or recommendations are always welcome.i would love to see some of you guys numbers on your rigs so post away!
  15. currently working a job in Leavenworth KS though its not where i call home!
  16. Depending on when you ask i am in Bentonville AR or Fairview TN. Although currently i am in Leavenworth Kansas on a job.
  17. Sounds like there may be some sort of blockage in the cooler? I don't really know much about automatics but that seems like the first place I would start.
  18. Is there any draw back to stepping up to a 60 or 75 hp over a 40? Would the 40 get better mpg than the bigger injectors?
  19. What is the approximate "HP" of the RV275 injectors? i hear alot about them but dont know what they are or what the advantage to them would be. i would like to add a set of injectors but i want to use the stock turbo. I am really not interested in tuners as i am not looking for huge power. i would be more interested in the mpgs than anything. what injectors would you guys recomend for that goal? i have heard good things about the rv275s just dont know enough to pull the trigger.
  20. ISX you are near my neck of the woods. We got some good snow in that storm up north of KC too. I am in construction management. Working on two different hotel projects on two separate military bases currently. I don't have any good pics on my phone but ill try to update later!
  21. Man that looks awesome! Was that done with rattle can? I assume you just used a high heat engine enamel? Way did you use for the red?
  22. Does anyone have experience painting the valve cover while it is still on the truck? I took my truck to the car was today and degreased the engine compartment. It looks great except that the pressure blew all the paint of of the valve cover! I believe it is aluminum so there really shouldn't be any concern with rust correct? I would like to paint it red like I have seen a few. Any ideas?
