  1. Thanks Haggar, That is what I was planning to do on Sunday. Live under the truck till I fix it!
  2. No, it has guides on it that match the switch and the plug. I thought of that myself.
  3. Yes, I have vacuum at the connector that attaches to the transfer case vacuum switch. It is brand new. Just can't get vacuum past the switch!
  4. I replaced my vacuum switch and still do not have vacuum at the CAD. Does anyone know how the vacuum switch is activated?
  5. Went to NAPA to try to get a vacuum switch for a 241 transfer case. Their books only listed a 231. If I am reading the parts look up tool correctly, they use the same one. Any one have any experience in them being the same?
  6. Haggar, Thanks for the video. My problem must be the switch. I know I have vacuum to the switch. Nothing past that. The front drive shaft turns. I will look into the switch.
  7. Update: I have vacuum at the tranny, but no vacuum at the CAD. There must be some type of vacuum switch in the tranny that is preventing the vacuum to go to the CAD. There is a vacuum connector that connects the hose from the fire wall (gray), to the cad (red and black), and a green one. I don't know where the green one goes to. Is my next step tranny removal to fix the problem?
  8. Thanks guys. When I try to suck the air from the lines, I can't move any more air from the lines. So, I believe I have no leaks. That is why I am believing the pump is out. I will look for a vacuum pump.
  9. Update: Finally had a day off to work on the truck. Replaced all of the vacuum connectors that I could find for the vacuum system. Now , my a/c system is blowing from the defrost area only. I am thinking I lost my vacuum pump. I don't know how much vacuum it takes to energize the cad or the a/c controls. Not sure if it is possible to energize the system but, I tried sucking on the vacuum lines and nothing happened. Any thoughts?
  10. Thanks for the help everyone!
  11. I have had this same thing happen to me as well. Years ago, I use to sell auto batteries (about 100 X 180 months) and seen this happen to customers as well.
  12. Thanks for the info. Too much on my mind. I knew about the vacuum lines. But, it didn't register!
  13. Why no lite on the dash?
  14. My 4 wd is not engaging. I have tried searching with no luck. Must not be entering the right words. The dash light does not come on. My mind has drawn a complete blank on what to look for! I know it is something simple! Thanks
  15. Well, it happened again! Used IBM's wire and the starter did not engage. 30 miles from home. Lucky my son was one mile away on a service call. Pulled the starter and put a new one in. Life is good again! Didn't really want to throw money at the problem in the hopes of fixing it. Thanks for the replies!
  16. Thanks! Got it wired. Now I will wait till the next time! Thanks. Will use this depending on IBM's post.
  17. Haven't checked. I have tried starting while moving the shifter around, thinking this sort of thing. Didn't make a difference.
  18. Well, here it is 15 days later and the truck did it again. Been fine in the mean time. 5 or 6 start ups per day. This time, I left the truck where it stopped at. It sat for about 4 hours. Never took the starter out. Took the battery cables off and put them back on after the 4 hours. Started right up! Got home and turned it off and started it back up 2x. It's like something is getting hot and then after it cools down it starts. Just doesn't make any sense that it took so long to do it again. Any thoughts?
  19. We use these in the vineyards http://ovs.com/product/wilson-pro-pole-line-end-posts . They last forever! I pulled out part of my vineyard, the posts were over 15 years old and still look great. No rot.
  20. Waiting for it to go down again, so I can do further testing. Thanks for the replies.
  21. Took the starter out, tested it, it was fine, put it back in and it started. Same thing as last time. I will have to wait till it happens again and check wires again.
  22. I put in a new switch and am getting 12 v at the solenoid. no luck.
  23. Truck will not start. Turn the ignition switch and nothing. Have power to everything else. New starter, batteries, no codes checked fuses, changed starter relay in PDC. Happened last week and had the starter retested and put it back in and it started right up! I have gremlins. Looking for suggestions. Thanks!
  24. I was hoping that this could be an easy fix for theft prevention for every one. It sounds like that is not going to happen.
