RPM Matching when Shifting
It will be easier on the clutch and on the trans. 1. You're not dragging the clutch backwards as it brings the rpms back up. 2. You aren't making the syncros fight the speed of the clutch as much if you bring it to the right rpm. Shifting to the next gear, say 4-5 I just don't let the rpms fall all the way off. Let em drop 500rpm or so then drop it in the next gear. Don't let them fall to idle. Shifting down, I hit the throttle to bring rpms up.

Dash and HVAC Box
@Me78569 wanna move this? My moderator actions don't have that as an option. I did mine. It's a pita, but worth it when the heat is burning hot during the winter.

hx35 rebuild
Does anyone have any tips for getting the compressor wheel of an hx35? I'm helping a buddy rebuild his and the compressor wheel refuses to come off the shaft. Thanks!

RPM Matching when Shifting
I use the clutch, but I also try to get my rpms in the right area. Makes shifting with a dual disc clutch easier, and is easier on the syncros. Don't shift without the clutch. It's not good for the 4500.

Truck stolen
No, but smarty can write a specific tune to flash a truck that will convert the ecm from auto to manual. Normally the smarty doesn't touch those parameters (if I remember right) so I'd just need to get it back to the default before it's used on another auto. Pictures: Broken window. Somehow they didn't scratch anything when tearing the window out. I've got it at home and it's in 1 piece. Broken bezel.... as you can see I've broken it many times before taking it off. Never has been a priority to buy a new one since you couldn't tell. Now it has a big missing chunk though. They ripped the wires off the switch mounted to the bezel that controls the light bar too. Missing lock cylinder. Didn't break the plastic around it though. Passenger side door where they tried to pry on it and get in. The black on mine is paint, not a sticker so that'll have to be fixed. Passenger rear door where they tried to get in. Coensides with the scratches above Driver side door handle. Silly crimminals, it's not a ford. They don't just pop out. More driver side door handle. you can see the scratches under the top left. Top of the drivers side doors. Drivers side passenger door. Lack of stereo... all wires intact and okay Overall not much damage. If it was a "farm truck" I wouldn't worry about it, but all of this will be fixed until it looks perfect again.

Power tow mirrors with blinkers
I misspoke. It looks like they don't have the type with the blinker in them yet. I bet they will eventually though.

Truck stolen
Let me send a PM to the smarty guys and see what it takes to flash it then get it flashed back to the normal smarty

Truck stolen
Yeah, some sort of dead switch + an alarm probably would have stopped them dead in their tracks Lemme know when you need it!

Truck stolen
Yeah, just popped out the cylinder. No way to stop that that I know of. I'm told a dent puller works really well to do it.

Truck stolen
Here's what I know.... Cops called me about 12:15 yesterday afternoon telling me they found my truck abandoned and it was being towed to Denver's impound lot. I finished my class and went straight to the impound lot. Took 45 min just for me to see the truck and see if I could drive it out. Went back into the office and sat there another 45 minutes waiting for them to let me take it. Best part is, the truck was still on level 1 on the quad (72% or something like that @Me78569 what was it?) The turbo timer was still on too, so they couldn't shut it off with the turbos hot. It's very possible that's why they ditched it so fast. The truck is a serious turd on level 1 and I'm sure they hated driving it. Anyway, I pulled it out to the lot and started going through everything. The thieves left the 3 rims and tires laying in the bed. They didn't even attempt to open the toolbox which has $500+ worth of tools. They pulled the subs out from under the back seat but didn't take them. They went through the center console and glove box. From there they took my VP44 cover, electrical kit, GPS, radar detector, aluminum polish, and my stereo. At least they were nice enough to remove the bezel to take the stereo out. They even removed the screws, left them in the cup holder, and unplugged all of the wires instead of ripping them out. Best part is I paid 120 bucks for the deck 6.5 years ago They were so dumb they left the smarty laying in the seat and didn't even pop the hood. My old phone and phone holder from wal-mart were gone but that's all minor stuff. Having issues uploading pictures, but the body is nearly perfect. No dents or scratches outside where they tried to break in.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Got a friend hooked on quad today for the 15min he rode in my truck. Showed him the smokey mess lvl 0 was then how clean and how much more powerful lvl 3 was. So we should have a stock 01 HO truck to do some testing on soon. It's got my old dual disc clutch, so it should hang on to anything we throw at it. Currently in the process of rebuilding his turbo and making it a lot harder to steal, then he should be buying a quad.

Truck stolen
Got it back tonight... man it feels good to drive it again. Handed it off to my dad and he's got it locked up in the shop. Insurance adjuster should be out soon to assess the damage and stolen items.

4th Gen. Alloy Wheel Refurbishment
I don't think those wheels have clear like the late 2nd gens. I cleaned mine up with simple green to get all of the scum off. I then did some scrubbing on them with "Mother's Hot Chrome" Found at wal-mart or most auto parts stores. It makes em shine like new once you rinse them off!

Truck stolen
On the fords, the handle can be popped out and the unlock lever easily accessed, or they punch the keyhole mechanism in and lift the unlock lever. Better to steal using a stolen vehicle than your own so if the plate gets run it doesn't come back to you, at least that's my assumption. These guys aren't amateurs.

Hmm. Looks like they only make the terra grappler for the 16" rim, not the G2

Truck stolen
Sounds like the chop shop they found was full of mostly out-of-state vehicles. It's been crazy up here. Minimum of 1-4 trucks a day stolen that I see on the facebook diesel pages. My friends girlfriend's truck was stolen around 11am yesterday in broad daylight. It's an 05 6.0. They were using it to drive around and steal other trucks. They used it to steal at least 3. Lucky for her the head gaskets in it blew out and they ditched the truck at a towing business with minimal damage. The guys who stole it hopped in another stolen f350 and took off. I've come to accept the cops are useless in this and people are on their own. It's taking the thiefs less than 30 seconds to get into the fords and have them running if they're good. Sad to see.... wtf is this society coming to.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Let's say a typical truck gets 17mpg. Let's say the quad bumps the mileage by 2mpg. Let's say fuel is nice and cheap, $2.15 Remember, the more expensive fuel is the faster it's going to pay for itself. Also, a lower mileage with the same bump in mileage is going to increase the net gain. A module costs $675 with iQuad BT 675 = (-2.15*X)/19 + (2.15*X)/17 Solve for X You get 50,703.5 miles. I had my truck for 3.5 years before it was stolen and put 46,000 miles on it. The module would have paid for itself in 4 years. Yes in 4 years the pesky little 2nd gens are still going to be all over the road. Yes almost all of the 2nd gens on the road have some sort of programmer, so why not choose this one over the others? We can also do the math if you want to switch from something else. Let's say you have an edge comp worth $350 (what I sold mine for) Hold all other parameters the same and here's the equation 675-350 = (-2.15*X)/19 + (2.15*X)/17 Solve for X We get 24,412.8 miles. Around 2 years of driving or so? Still sounds worth it to me. Edge JWA or smarty can go for $500 or so... 675-500 = (-2.15*X)/19 + (2.15*X)/17 Solve for X We get 13,145.3 miles. A little over 1 year of driving? That's a pretty quick return. I like math..... I think I've made my point. Afford what "other stuff" A 10K car + a vehicles insurance + repair costs on a 2nd vehicle??? That's a lot of money compared to a $675 module. So once again you're hinting at selling the truck. Sorry, but your wife's car isn't going to pull around a 10K trailer. It isn't going to haul a freshly killed buck in the trunk with blood spilling everywhere. It isn't going to haul 100 gallons of diesel for the farm equipment. It isn't going to haul a flat tire that stands 5ft tall. Heck that's why many people still have these trucks. They're cheap to buy if you find a deal, and little maintenance things here and there aren't bad compared to making the payments on another car.

Goodbye Edge Comp, Hello Quadzilla Adrenaline
Mine's gone -__- Used to run it at 14, then dropped to 10, then I think Nick had it set around 8 for all the testing I did. Low timing helps spool the turbo. High timing with boost helps give fuel time to atomize and time to get in before combustion occurs.

As high as you can without it surging should give you the best mileage. With studs there's no need to worry about the head.
