  1. The next time it does it dump cold water on top of the injection pump.... If it fires right up you probably should start looking for an injection pump. I suggest you support one of the vendors that support the site!
  2. No bleeding necessary. It will push fuel back into the tank as soon as you start the motor
  3. BUMP! Come on guys don't be shy
  4. Little update here. Thanks for the thoughts guys. The miss doesn't seem to have gone away but I don't think the old tubes were completely seating against the injectors. I can now pull more boost, spool the turbo quicker, and have lower EGTs. That dang miss is still there though. Weird thing is when it has a significant load on it you can't tell it's there. It still makes Tons of power, spools really fast, and has zero blowby. To the head coming off... That will happen in time. Right around the middle of may the motor will be on the garage floor, so I'll do it then. Thanks again everyone for the help!
  5. Yup! The diaphragm inside the actuator probably has a rip. I believe it was 110 bucks from Napa
  6. Have you seen them tucked up on the bed bolt where they are supposed to be mounted? I wouldn't be scared to put one there. Also, the fass has larger filters so it can flow a higher volume at a given pressure without as bad of flow drop like the airdog will have
  7. Honestly I'm tired of trying to find this miss. I'm not going to do anything else until I pull the motor out. If there is something wrong down inside, I'll see it when the head is off. I will also see if the timing gears are all lined up at the same time. injection lines are in the correct order. I took them all off and cleaned them with a green scotch brite pad. It appears like the leaks have all stopped but I need to go wash the motor to be certain
  8. Well I have everything in and...... No luck. It doesn't sound like the miss has changed at all. Sounds internal to me. The whole fuel system has been gone through
  9. Cummins dealer was the cheapest place I could find the grid gaskets! 5.28 each Tubes were 25.67 each with O rings. O rings separate were 18.95 smh! Came out to be a few bucks more expensive than ordering, but no shipping and I got them tonight
  10. Alright Mr. Cummins your move: 6 new crossover tubes from cummins, 6 new Orings, and 2 grid heater gaskets
  11. Now it's an O ring. Not sure what they used to have?? Maybe an O ring then too, but I did read the machining of the housings was outsourced to china, and the quality went in the tank.
  12. Good work! Keep this updated please! I think I'll make the treck up to Cummins tomorrow... I hate having to buy grid heater gaskets and O rings at the same time :/
  13. Mike has the old school one... The good one. It's the new design that's bad
  14. Fuel Lab doesn't play well with our ECM. I would advise to stay away from them
  15. Fass or mechanical. I prefer fass personally, as I have experience with them
  16. Welcome to the forum! You will get a bunch of ideas coming your way shortly, but I'll start by throwing my 2 cents in. What gauges do you have? If you have a boost that would help... we would at least know if the truck is fueling hard enough. I'm thinking the dirty fuel either gummed up/ damaged the injection pump, injectors, or both. I would start by removing the injectors and having them sent in to be tested. If they come back good I would have the injection pump tested (Or have them both done at the same time) That will rule out the big parts of the fuel system
  17. I honestly don't think it's worth the full retail price... That being said I picked mine up for 275 on craigslist, and I recommend you try to do the same. Just make sure it is unlocked when you buy it! I think it's the perfect towing programmer! When my truck was stock I couldn't push the EGTs past 1200 no matter how long my foot was to the floor. It gave the perfect bump in power that these trucks need. And now that I'm not stock at all......With the mods you see in my signature it made 372hp and 801 ft-lbs of torque on level 7.
  18. You posted a pic of your crossover tubes in my thread, but I don't see an updater here
  19. Tires do cause a difference because the radius is greater, creating the need for more power to do the same amount of work. Issopro and Autometer are both quality gauges. Stay away from glowshift!!
  20. You will see a maximum gain of 65hp and it will decrease the torque management. With a light foot, the smarty is very efficient and a great addition. That being said if you want more power and do not want to stack multiple programmers go with something like an edge comp.
  21. Weird... Mine works even with the TST on 9 Thanks Mike I will do that this morning! Hopefully he can 2 day them for me
  22. Cruise doesn't work with the comp?? It is deceptive!! I had no idea I had 372hp when I tow! Guess that explains why I can fly up the mountain passes with the snowmobiles and others struggle And UDC isn't going to happen through smarty. We are a forgotten about generation
  23. You're absolutely right Mike... Check out when the REVO was made Does he have the crossover tubes in a set of 6 on his site?? All I can find is the individuals without O rings.... http://www.vulcanperformance.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=connecting&Submit=
  24. OHHHHHH Are you sure you don't want to ship them to me!?!?!? Haha just messing. I'll give Eric a call because he sponsors this forum. Mike what do you have to say about the smarty curve?? Been waiting for you to throw your in...... Diesel4life nothing too big yet.. Just a couple of snowmobiles. I wont until tractor pulling season starts up again. Might pull a 4 place snowmobile trailer this weekend with 4 sleds and a bunch of gear maybe 5-6k. If only the cab was bigger!
  25. Yup... I'll pull the valve cover loosen the injectors, pull all the lines and clean the tips, Then reinstall. Hoping it'll clear up at least some of this miss.
