  1. I sent them an email on Sunday and did get a response on Monday afternoon asking me what vehicle it was installed in. Tuesday they sent me another email with the address to mail it for repair. So far the communications have been good. I just hope they either fix it quick or send me a new one. If they do either, I'll be satisfied. I'll let you know how it turns out.Ed
  2. Damn, I was going to mail it back tomorrow. Your experience scares me a bit. I like the thing but don't need headaches. If they don't satisfy me, their web site says they have a 90 (I think) day unconditional refund so I'll do that.
  3. Wow! It sounds like we live in nearly the same place. My town is at the top of a mountain in the Berkshires (think Norman Rockwell). It's about 12 miles of almost all down hill to get out of the mountains. The last stretch (about 1 1/2 miles) is the only really straight part and is steep enough to have a run-away truck ramp. Strange. I'm not sure why my brakes hold up better than yours. I have a contractors cap and always have at least 2000 pounds in it. Sounds like you have replaced everything. I'm stumped.
  4. Wow...that's a lot of brake wear. It sounds like something is really wrong. I do nothing but winding mountain roads and city driving with 2000 pounds of tools and equipment in the back of my truck. I changed the pads 2 years ago and they still look like new. Maybe your rotors are tearing up the pads?
  5. I have my bypass shimmed to 15.5 psi. It drops to 13.5 psi at WOT but I rarely floor it. I installed a Walbro 4 years ago based on the recommendation of several RV delivery drivers. It was long before I joined CF and had never heard of Airdog or Fass. My original pump has just over 87,000 miles so it's on borrowed time. When I installed the new VP I also re-did my fuel system adding a W/S and 2 Mic filter. I also plumbed in a second Walbro (I always carried an extra) that's wired separately so if the first one dies I can switch to the other without leaving the cab. I actually haven't finished because the switches I ordered haven't arrived yet.
  6. Ya...I've been using 2 stroke oil for about two years thanks to your research. Unfortunately, my last VP died of electrical failure. I'll bet mechanically it was in pretty good shape for a 5 year old pump.
  7. I'm definitely happy with it. It was my first swap and it wasn't difficult at all. I figure if the fuel mileage increase stays the way it is I'll save between $250.00 and $300.00 in fuel costs in a year.
  8. I also have a problem with it not connecting. If I unplug the cable from the side of the ScanGauge and plug it back in, it starts to work. I'm sending it back tomorrow so I'll let everyone know how good their customer service is.
  9. About a month ago my truck suddenly died. After two weeks of denial, I came to the conclusion that my VP44 had died. I got one from jkidd (great deal too) and installed it. After installing the new VP44, I can't believe how much quieter it is now. It still sounds like a VP44 truck just not nearly as loud. My wife and a couple of my neighbors commented on how much quieter it is now. The other thing is fuel mileage. Today I did a lot of town/city driving (84 miles with an average speed of 26 mph) and the ScanGauge showed 17.9 mpg. Previously, the best I could have hoped for this time of the year would have been mid 15's with this kind of stop and start driving and 2000 pounds of tools and equipment in the back. My first full tank of fuel with the new VP got 20.1 mpg with a mix of highway and off-highway driving. My previous best was 19.9 and that was during the summer, all highway miles and no weight in the back.
  10. Thanks. I'm going to send it in for repair then.
  11. Has anyone else had trouble with their display showing black boxes where the letter or number should be: Mine does this intermittently. If I unplug it and plug it back in, the display returns to normal. Also, some of the time it doesn't connect automatically with the truck. The gauges show no data. I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to connect. Sometimes I have to do this more than once. Most of the time it works perfectly but these two problems are annoying. I emailed Linear Logic and they said to send it in for repair. I just want to make sure these aren't common glitches that aren't going to go away with repair. Not bad average mileage. Must be the 2 stroke oil.
  12. This is my 2000 and a Camper I built a few years back. The truck is nothing special. Just a work truck. I'm in and out of the back of my truck all day long so I just changed the cap to a contractors cap with rear doors but it's so ugly I refuse to take a picture.
  13. I was never much into video games but I still have all my old computers. A TRS -80 that I got in 1977 complete with monitor and tape drive, A Comadore VIC-20 (1980), A commodore 64 (1982) with all optional peripherals still in the original boxes and an Coleco Adam (1984) which came with the gaming classic Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom. I still miss DOS:cry2:."The really frightening thing about middle age is the knowledge that you will grow out of it"
  14. 2000.5 trucks also have torque management. Mine was built in Dec of '99 and unfortunately has it.
  15. My wife's Grand Cherokee had the exact same symptoms and the same code. I replaced the transmission output speed sensor which took about 3 minutes and cost $17.00 and it was as good as new.
