FASS DDRP: Why not????
The O.D. is 3/8 inch. It fits perfectly in a 3/8 inch I.D. hose. I read on one of the forums that the I.D. is .23 inches but can't confirm this.

FASS DDRP: Why not????
LiveOak, before running a f/w separator for a prefilter, I ran the 140 micron in-line screen filter that a lot of people use. Vulcan sells them. http://www.vulcanperformance.com/category-s/152.htm Twice I had my fuel pressure drop to nearly zero under hard acceleration because the prefilter was partially clogged. I always carried an extra so I just pulled over and replace it. I don't know how fine the stock pick-up screen is but it does let contaminants larger than 140 microns pass through. These particulates could be large enough to damage a gerotor pump.

I'm not sure what that refers to. Maybe if I shoot him a PM he can tell us.

FASS DDRP: Why not????
I believe a good prefilter is very important for pump life. I've been running a prefilter on my Walbro system since I installed it 4 years ago. Many other Walbro users have had them fail within a few months. My own informal survey shows most of them had no prefilter or the wrong type of regulator. Prefiltering could also be a factor in the reliability of AirDog pumps. I currently run a Baldwin B1212 filter before the pump. It's actually a water separator but also filters to 20 microns. Water separators work much better if they're installed before the pump and can remove the water before it is emulsified by the pump. Airdogs also do this. Adding this filter before the pump did nothing to effect my fuel pressure. I you want to know about filtration just read everything written by AH64ID. He put together this chart on fuel filters. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-tech-articles/150422-3rd-gen-popular-fuel-filter-data.html. If you look on the chart for Airdog filters, you'll see the WS100 water separator that comes with the pump should be changed to a FS19594. The WS100 only filters 50% of free water and 0% of emulsified water. Not much of a water filter. The FS19594 filters 90% of both. Much better but still doesn't meet the Cummings 95% requirement for Common Rail engines. That's why a lot of the 3rd gen guys are running Raptors instead of AirDogs and adding filter bases with better filters or they run a Baldwin PF7977 in the stock filter housing which also meets Cummins' specifications. If you look at the chart, you will see the Baldwin PF7977 is an excellent filter and water separator. Also, if you look at the chart you'll see the best fuel filter for the AirDog is the FS5613 which is a 5 micron Absolute filter. The Absolute rating is the industry standard. It requires 98.7% of a certain size particulate to be filtered out on one pass. The FS5613 only filters out 94% of 2 micron particles so it's not a 2 micron Absolute filter. It's a 2 micron nominal filter. The nominal rating is anything less than 98.7%. Some filters might claim to be 2 micron but only filter 50% of the particles that size. This is the reason the Absolute standard came about, so you are comparing apples to apples when you look at filters. Unfortunately, AirDogs filter threads are the wrong size to accept any of the 2 mic Absolute filters.

Welcome to the forum Tony. When you fill out the information on your truck you should go to where it says "edit signature" in the user control panel. You filled out the information in the "edit profile" section which will only show up when someone goes to your profile. Just copy and paste your info to the signature section of the user control panel and it will show up at the end of every post you make.

ScanGauge II problems
I'm about 99.9% sure it will be a remanufactured unit. Unfortunately, under the terms of their warranty they can do that. I shouldn't have used the term "new" in my last post. I could probably fight that under Massachusetts' Implied warranty law. I would have to look into it. If the rebuilt one works, I'll be okay with it. I still blame myself for not reading the warranty. I would have bought something else if I had. They will only refund your money for the first 30 days after that they repair it. The problem was I bought the ScanGauge to diagnose the no-start problem I was having. By the time I got a VP44 installed, the 30 days was over. I should have used it in my wife's truck during the first 30 days. I usually refuse to buy a product that doesn't have a "new replacement" warranty for at least 90 days. ScanGauge is now sold through some major retailers like Amazon, JC Whitney and Autozone. If someone wants to buy a ScanGauge, they should check the return through those retailers or anyone else who sells them. I don't know if any of the vendor's here sell them and what the return policy is.

ScanGauge II problems
Just another update. I sent Linear Logic 3 emails requesting a new Scangauge and that they pay to return my defective one. The last email was sent yesterday. I just received the following reply: Edward, We can send you a replacement unit to the address you included. Enclosed in the package will be a pre-paid return label to send back the defective unit. Please let me know how the replacement unit works. Thank you, Scott Ross Linear Logic, LLC As soon as I receive the new one and confirm it works correctly, I will be a happy customer. I've been in business long enough to have sold and / or installed defective products. It happens. I've also been a service manager long enough to realize some service problems do fall through the cracks despite my best efforts. Hopefully, I'll receive the new ScanGauge soon and I'll let you know.

4X4 problems
Wow...this is weird. You where driving in snow and lost your 4 wheel drive. Sunday I drove back from Maine in a snow storm and now my truck wont come out of 4 X 4 and the dash indicator stays on. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

ScanGauge II problems
It does the same thing in my wife's truck and my work van. I was sure to tell Linear Logic that it has problems in more than one truck.

ScanGauge II problems
They failed to fix both the display problem and the connection problem. The display problem reappeared immediately. The connecting problem took a couple of weeks to come back.

ScanGauge II problems
Just wanted to give an update on my Scangauge. A couple of weeks after they "repaired" it I started having problems with it not connecting. I have sent them two emails requesting a new gauge rather than them trying to repair it a second time. They have yet to respond to my emails. I will call them on Monday. If I can't get any satisfaction that way, I'll file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I checked and Linear Logic is an accredited company with the BBB with an A+ rating. They had two complaints in the last 36 months and both where resolved. Apparently they care about their rating, so this may be my best avenue.

and now i realize why so many of you gave up on CF.......
I read your CF thread about 1/2 hours ago. Black01 was way out of line (Strange thing is he has an 02 and it's white?). He came across as a troll. No one needs that. I haven't entirely abandoned CF but I definitely spend way less time there than before. I find the people on here have similar goals with their trucks and we're all friends.

Wow...We Massachusetts voters finally got something right.
Apparently driving a pickup is racist. This is an interview Olbermann did with Howard Fineman (Newsweek's chief Washington correspondent). At about 1 minute in Fineman says "I think for most of the American people race is no respect a part of the equation. Maybe not in Massachusetts but maybe in some places there are codes, there are images, there are pick-up trucks. You can say there's a racial aspect --" Yup...Newsweek...another quality liberal publication. http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/checker.aspx?v=Xduzvk8zqG .

Wow...We Massachusetts voters finally got something right.
Love the cartoons. The big problem we have here is apathy. In reality, liberals are probably not in the majority if you took a poll of all Massachusetts residents. It's just that the liberals are way more politically active. The average Joe doesn't actually follow the issues closely. But eventually, enough is enough and moderates and conservatives come out of the wood work to vote. Raise taxes enough and we elect Mitt Romney as Governor. Allow congressional spending to get out of control and we replace Ted Kennedy with a Republican. I had a lady in line in front of me at the polls who looked to be in her 40's and said she had never voted before. If we could get the average (working) voter to vote at every election, we could turn this state around and bring businesses back.

Wow...We Massachusetts voters finally got something right.
After decades of voting against (and losing to) the liberal majority here in Massachusetts, today's election gave me a small fraction of hope. I never in my wildest dreams would have believed a Republican would win Ted Kennedy's senate seat. We haven't had a Republican senator in more than 30 years. On Sunday, Barry Obama came here to support the Democrat candidate. He made fun of Republican Scott Brown because he drives a pickup truck with over 200,000 miles on it. Talk about Obama being out of touch with the average American. Brown said in his acceptance speech, which of course CNN didn't cover, that he draws the line when someone makes fun of his truck. I'm not big on political threads, but this victory gives the Republicans the right to filibuster and for a brief moment makes me proud to live in Massachusetts. I'm sure tomorrow the State Senate will pass some new tax that will destroy all hope I might of had.

bully dog lift pumps
That's a lot of money for what you get. A Holley pump, a few fittings, some wire, fuel hose and only a one year warranty for $322.00. I love their claim "Provides up to 65 h.p. and 160 lb.-ft" . :shocked2: Hmm.... For about $65.00 more, you can get a Raptor 100 from Jkidd. Proven reliability and a much better warranty.

Take the box off or leave it on?
The bed isn't that hard to remove. You have to remove 8 retaining bolts (6 on short bed), a ground strap, wiring for the lights, fuel fill hose and breather and the spare tire rod. I think that's it. I made a jig out of dimensional lumber and used an engine hoist to lift it and drove the truck out from under the bed with one person holding the bed steady. I'm just not sure if it's easier than dropping the tank. The bed bolts, wiring, spare tire rod and wiring also requires working on your back under the truck. It's not real difficult to drop the tank if it's low on fuel. I use a tranny jack to lower it. Than again, not having the bed mounted will make installing the fuel pump, pump bracket, wiring and fuel hoses easier. I'm torn.

I need to snowplow my driveway...
Somebody had a bad day. That's a nice area. We travel on rt. 102 all the time. My wife is from North Kingstown. We're there about once a month.

Yup...another ScanGauge question. I need more help.
Thanks guys. The chart in the manual for gauge abbreviations doesn't list it. I guess they need to update the documentation. Do either of you guys know if it is the "tank" average or the "today" average?edit: Ok...I've been thinking about this. If the AVG reads the same tomorrow morning, as it did when I parked today, than it will have to be "tank" average. If it's different, than it would have to be "today".

I need to snowplow my driveway...
I made a ton of money (to a 17 year old) plowing driveways with a CJ5 hard top back in the mid 80's. It did a great job on driveways (I wouldn't use it on parking lots, streets...) it was very maneuverable and the narrow blade was easy to handle. My sister had been plowing her long gravel driveway for years with an ATV but finally bought a Wrangler just to plow with. It's just for plowing so it's not registered, inspected.... She is very happy with it. Her driveway is up hill and it does a great job.

Yup...another ScanGauge question. I need more help.
Thanks Michael. I really appreciate your help. I may be beating a dead horse but I just want to be sure before I call Scangauge and talk to them (maybe yell a bit). In the picture below, you see the gauge labeled AVG. Am I correct that it's not one of the default gauges but one that had to be programmed in. In other words, if I bought a new Scangauge, I wouldn't find that gauge?

another code question
That is normal on a 2000 and maybe some 2001 CTD's. I've talked to many other people with 2000's and have yet to find someone who's on-board diagnostics will check both computers (ECM and PCM). You will only get one pdone before the odometer returns. Our 2000 trucks only display the PCM codes so if there is an ECM code you will just get a 1693 companion code telling you the ECM has a stored code. You'll need a code reader to check the ECM code indicated by the 1693. I had a 1693 for 6 years before I finally bought a code reader and found out it was a problem with the grid heater.

Yup...another ScanGauge question. I need more help.
I'm still having trouble with my ScanGauge but wanted to make sure I understand something correctly. In order for Average MPG to be displayed as a gauge, I have to program it with Xgauge? I'm talking about average mileage on a tank of fuel not the mileage for the last 2 seconds that shows up on the gauge as MPG. If I toggle through the gauges, should I find one that says AVG?Thanks guys.
