  1. Youll see 100 out of each. CumminsPerformanceParts has them for around $600 shipped. (QUAD) else check out the used forums - can get them for $350-$450 all day long depending if its POD/V1 or V2. If you have an iphone - check out the IQUAD.
  2. I've had both. Personally I would go with EDGE unless an extra +30HP or going to 4k is for you. Custom tuning is ok ...... but you don't really play with it that much ...... QUAD is cheaper tho.
  3. umm ?? ok ?? I pay my taxes - just not willing to go through a bunch of BS for a diesel truck. When CA can develop a smog/emission safe VW TDI that can tow 15k pounds and cost less than $30k new I would be happy to switch over. I don't have $65k to buy a new 2011 emissions safe truck.
  4. here http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-2nd-gen-all-products/371297-ac-compessor.html
  5. I heard upgrading to 3rd Gen brakes/rotars was the way to go.Not sure whats involved - but sure you could do that off a wrecked truck for $300.
  6. yeah reading more and more on this seems the sticking point will be EMPLOYED in CA.Once employed meant to start paying CA fees and switch licence over.Think I will just say I am visting/touring - as in my opinion - I am from MO and thats what I am doing - touring blah
  7. Yeah thx man I was speaking with a friend (cop) last night - he said some states say that if you are more than 30 days and FT employed you need to bre resident - and can be fined for not doing so. He suggested what you said - but if ever pulled over and asked - just say your vistinig CA for friends and looking for work - and not give any more info. That way perfectly fine to be an out of state "visitor" as the 30 days can't be enforced until you have a job.
  8. The mechanic next door to me gave them to me. But any parts store ....... like http://www.amazon.com/Spectronics-TP8620CS-Opti-Lite-Detection-Flashlight/dp/B0021UZUT8/ref=sr_1_27?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1304616126&sr=1-27 http://www.amazon.com/Spectronics-TP8690-Cordless-Detection-Flashlight/dp/B0021V1YBU/ref=sr_1_8?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1304616093&sr=1-8 That with a smaller LED blacklight really made a difference. my BIG mistake was assuming old UV oil was from when ISX put it back on .... as I remembered seeing it. Some CARB/Break cleaner to wash that off so no UV dye and regas - sure enough it came back - so it was infact NEW UV oil :banghead: I then picked up a compressor from CF for $78 shipped. There is a guy selling one right now from a puller (doesn't need AC for around $50 + shipping) .
  9. must be the cheater bar - gotta go find something I can use With a straight ratchet - I can hold it back with 2 hands - but don't think I can hold it with one very long --- Update to the previous post... lmao - cheater bar worked a treat - easy peasy And FINALLY I have an AC vacuum that was HOLDING !!!!!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper: I don't want to count my chickens ...... but never had that before ... so moral of story for me is 1) Clean up ALL dye - dont assume its OLD dye. 2) Have proper uv light and glasses - mine wasn't good enough 3) Have the right tools - cheater bar, socket wrenches, 13mm instead of 1/2" only etc lets see ...... so excited ......
  10. dunno but subscribed and takes pics !!!
  11. Got the compressor switched out.Any tricks in getting the serperntine belt back on as a 1 man job.Took both hands and 90% effort to get the tensioner back ........ don't think I could let go and adjust the belt in place at same time .......Will either need to get a cheater bar ....... a friend to loop the belt for me while I hold ...... or tie it down (ratchet or something) ?? How the heck ISX does it I dunno ....
  12. Guess I will ring the MO licencing/inspection and see what they say ........ or see if I can find MO regulations for out-of-state They never seem to really know when you call them tho - get different answers from diff people by phone
  13. Thats good info. How do you go about getting the safety checks tho - aren't they required like every 2 years generally ?
  14. Dunno Thats the confusing bit - we don't really reside anywhere - we live in RV and we move around wtih work. Usually 6-9 months. As far as I am concerned - MO is our home base. Family/house etc. But as I have had these plates for 2 years ...... I *think* to renew them I would normally need a safety inspection in MO come 2012. So since I am in CA then
  15. Yeah I am just wondering if I am going to have any issues living there for 6-9 months with MO plates. And when they expire - can I relicence them as MO plates ?
  16. sucks Really want an extra two guages and that mneas pulling my 2x off the pillar and replacing with a 3x and then using a single steering .... hmm ..
  17. Curious as I don't fully understand vehcile licencing here in US and we are about to move to CA. Also been reading http://dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm#BM2536 Truck is registered in MO (where we bought it) and we extended the licence this year which expires in DEC. Now we are moving to CA for 6-9 months. So a couple of questions 1) Do I need to bother with anything now as truck is licenced till DEC in MO. 2) If I stayed in CA beyond DEC - can I just renew my plates as MO plates. 3) Can I get fined for having a truck that smokes ??? Can it be worse than a fine or does that only happen at inspection time ?? I did read this here http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr29.htm "Does this Apply to Someone Moving to California? If you are moving to California from another state, you may register a new 49-State vehicle if it was first registered by you in your home state, or for military personnel, in the last state of your military service. When applying for vehicle registration in California, you must provide evidence that the vehicle was registered." -- but didn't make a lot of sense thx guys
  18. Its configurable You can set either to whatever value you want Lot of people set at 35-40 psi in order to help prevent head gasket failure.
  19. Bet you it was the EJ/A defueling due to high boost or EGT (boost/egt limits) - not the turbo/hook
  20. Yeah I ended up buying one off a wrecked 2000 dudally for $78 shipped. So hopefully that will be that - but saw this just before. Looks like its my compressor - moral of the story is make sure you clean everything down (so you know whats a new leak) and you have good black light with the goggles. I used what the mecahnic used and it showed up a fair bit mor ethan my straight blacklight ...... here's hoping !!! About to move to CA for a new job. AC would be great for summer
  21. FAS DDRP and bigline kit are ok. Just get your fuel pressure guage in and keep an eye on your fuel filter.Gauges obviously.Only other thing you might consider is a small timing box. Like a xzt or edge EZ or powerpuck. Help with a little mor epower and mileage mpg
  22. Pretty sure its my compressor leaking. Does anyone know if this looks ok - its says it fits in the vehicle match. And NEW. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Ram-Pickup-Diesel-1994-1995-1996-AC-COMPRESSOR-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2560ff9147QQitemZ160541151559QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  23. I would do these over the bilsteins (I have bilsteins). This and/or air bags in rear
  24. wher ecan you get a DUAL steering column guage for 2nd gens only find them for 3rd gens:cookoo:
  25. Sounds pretty good an smart as long as you have a AirDog and Guages. I'd consider getting a super B over the dodzilla - but thats just cause I haven't heard anything about them (good or bad).....
