Hey Guys....my friend has a 2009 Ford F450 dually with the powerstroke automatic and is having some issues, or should I say , an issue. He tows a 45 or 47 ft (can't remember for sure) fifth wheel horse trailer and when on the highway coming into a hill the truck will shift down to a lower gear and sometimes the truck will start what he calls jumping, I guess i would call it a vibration, for about 10-12 times and then stop, or stops when it shifts back into high gear. He had it to the dealer this week and they first tried telling him it was because the fifth wheel hitch was 2 inches ahead of the rear housing, throwing the truck off. He basically told them BS because he had it installed at a dealer and he knew it was right. He also let them know it does it with his 2 horse bumper pull trailer also, so how can they blame it on the hitch! The Ford dealer ended up calling the trailer dealer and they also said it was in the right spot. Then they tried telling him the trailer is to much weight for a F350, he looked at them like a bunch of idiots and said that's why it's a F450!:banghead: They said he needed airbags or something to help out and he said the F450 is what they told him would tow what he wanted and that's why he gave them $80k for a truck! Then they said maybe axles...and so on and so on. So, I know it's hard to diagnose a vehicle you can't drive, but anyone have any ideas what he maybe looking at for a cause , I said maybe torque converter? He ended up hauling his truck out of there, i told him just to run it until it busts then make them fix it under warranty, but knowing them they'll try to weasle out of it saying he had something done wrong
  2. I sometimes am doing things to the truck though and have the stereo going, but need the door open so it gets tiring hearing that things dingin the whole while
  3. Owned my truck for about 6 years now and I can count on one hand how many times I've heard it do it, and those times for whatever reason have been within the past 2 days
  4. the box I mean is the one the chime noise is coming from, it's above the gas pedal under the dash area off towards the center of the truck i'll say
  5. Anyone know how to unhook the door chime so i can have my door open with the keys in the ignition without hearing that dam thing dingin all the time :banghead: I notice it's a box type affair the noise is coming out of but wasn't sure what else it's controlling
  6. That's where Ford and Chevy drivers have to put the service manuals for when they repair them on side of the road! Hope that comment don't come back to bite me in the a** nest trip to town!
  7. I'm starting to wonder if that happend
  8. Mount is angled and if I remember right (have to measure again) it is off center a bit also
  9. Agreed ! When the novelty of new paint wears off and I get some dings and scratches, i'll use it like a truck again ---------- Post added at 11:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:15 PM ---------- BTW, any of you notice in my tailgate picture how the trailer hitch is off center of the truck ? I went to a machine shop to get it straightened and the machinist said he thought it's suppose to be that way and he pointed over to his Dodge Ram, exact same thing Any ideas why ?
  10. Man, somebody forked out some ching ching for that white fence didn't they!
  11. Lol, I try to keep things the way they are until i have to touch them because alot of times I end up causing myself alot of unwanted work or spending money I don't have to fix what I screw up
  12. I messed with it for 3 hours on Saturday and didn't get much further then when i started so today I took it to a garage my buddy works at and after an hour we had clearance i'm happy with. Closest spot is probably 3/8 inch away, the rest is about 1/2 away. We ended up breaking the exhaust apart at the front joint , pulling down on the downpipe down at the front and then heating and putting more bend in it. Had to bend a couple hangers and two had to be cut and welded on a bit different. Box said it was for 98-2002 Dodge but somethign wasn't matching up for some reason.
  13. ISX, what do you do, wait for someone to post a question and then run out in the yard and tear your truck apart?
  14. My new decal (back bumper on order )
  15. I crawled under mine again today and started loosening the clamps and figured i'd try to turn the downpipe somehow to try and get it away from the firewall insulation. I ended up leaving it as it was because after laying there looking at it, I still see no way of getting it away from hitting unless you bend it, or take the insulation away and then it still will be close to touching the bare firewall. I think if MBRP would put just a little more bend in it from when they make it the problem wouldn't be there. I did go out and buy a fire extinguisher today and bolt it under the back seat in case. Mopar1973Man, you put bigger exhaust on yours, did you run into this problem?
  16. I do notice that mines up against the firewall insulation, wonder if that will be ok? Don't really know how to keep it from hitting it unless I remove it, which I don't really want to do :shrug:And I can't even imagine how you got that in there ISX
  17. My god you guys are so lucky to live where you don't have to undercoat. What a pleasure it would be to work underneath something like that and not come out from it looking like a greaseball from head to toe. I should've taken a picture of myself before I got cleaned up after working at mine all day.
  18. I was trying to get it apart without cutting it in case I ever wanted to use it or someone else wanted it, and finally was able to get it off. Thanks ISX, you got me looking at the turbo and yes, I did take the flange off and was able to get it up through. Still was a beotch to get it up past but doable. Got the new 4" all bolted on and sound tested aleady! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  19. Inner fender on these are welded fast to the fender. Man, would they ever make it you have to start taking turbo's apart to change exhaust
  20. Taking my stock exhaust off, got it undone where the downpipe hooked to the resinator, how the **** to I get the downpipe out from underneath? I tried taking it up through past the otor, tried all different ways but can't figure it out. I stumped!
  21. Mines got a 4 inch piece of line hangin off it, Is that the way they are suppose to be or i'm wondering if someone cut it off ? Everything seems to be working
  22. I was thinking the sport headlights too but it's a diferent style plug connector than the blue one thats there now for my headlight . I have a buddy (yes, i have a friend ) that has a sport, may take a look at his next time he's around
  23. On my 2002 2500 there's a couple things I can't seem to figure out what there for. First is under the cowl piece where the wipers fasten on, on the passenger side there is a black rectangular shape box with what appears to be some type of very small hose coming off it, like a vacuum hose. Mines never been hooked to anything and i'm wondering what it's for :shrug:Second, on the headlight wiring harness I have a plug for my headlight bulb, a plug socket for my signal turn bulb and there's another plug connector there not being used...anyone poosibly know what that's for
  24. yea I understand that part of it, but this guage has the fuel psi in digital so that shouldn't be an issue should it
