oil out the dipstick??
Well decided to just change the motor, seeing how I found with low miles cheap. Then I can take my time and rebuild the old one. Does anybody know any tricks on getting the motor out? I know the front end has to come off, but does the oil pan or the rocker bridges have to come off? Or is there another way?

oil out the dipstick??
No have not pulled the head yet. Exhuasting all options first. I was going to do a leak down test, as suggested, but ran into a problem. I pulled all injectors placed the adapter in the #1 injector hole began turning the motor over with a barring tool while the wife was watching for TDC at the puke box location. She informed me the injection pump was not turning. Sooo I began taking the front apart to find that problem and found out she was wrong. She didnt understand the injection pump turned slow while I was turning the barring tool slowly. What a mess up. Needless to say I stopped and checked it made her turn the barring tool and caught it before I took the cover off. Now back to where I was. Im going to leak down test it first before I take the head off.I am still amazed that anything went wrong seeing it never got hot!!:banghead:

oil out the dipstick??
Well i finally got acompression test done. Number one was only 100 and the rest were over 300 varying. Should i try a vaccum leak down, lile other people suggested? Could this reading of 100 be caused ny a valve, head gasket?

oil out the dipstick??
Again thank you for all the suggestions. I'm trying everything else before going to head. I have some I come in saturday to check the compression. In the meantime could possibly the turbo or vacuum pump be bad still if so how do I check the vacuum pump --- Update to the previous post... Again thank you for all the suggestions. If it wasnt for bad luck I wouldnt have any luck at all!... Now my 01 24 valve is spitting oil out the dipstick bad! I get a puffing noise from where you ad oil in the valve cover. Checked the puke box nothing wrong with it. What the heck is going on???:banghead: Is there another vent for the crank I am missing? Or could it be the vacuum pump again? It runs rough and smoking white. :banghead:

pulling with an built auto
Since my tranny blew the torque convertor I am forced to do another total rebuild on it. My question to you guys is that people are saying that the second generation automatics 47RE's are only rated to pull up to 30,000 pounds, with a built transmission? It seems kind of low. Any thoughts??

Transmission woes
yes, it still moves im just afraid to drive it.

Transmission woes
I was driving down the road last night and heard a big bang. I thought by the sound that I hit an animal. The truck seemed to loose power after that. Today I noticed that there is tranny fluid coming out the front of the tranny by the torque converter. Can anyone give me some insight as to what could have broke or gone wrong.

Transmission woes
Yes, it was the second band that was broke and i had it replaced.

Tubro NOT working, HOT EGT's!!! HELP!!!
It sounds like the vp 44 is not keeping up with the demand of fuel. Might be a cracked diaphram in the VP, because sometimes it wil give you a decent reading at idle, then dropping in pressure as you go, thus sending your egts high.

Fuel Pressure Too High?
I was told anythng over 18 is damaging the diaphram in the VP pump. Just my
