  1. Reporting in for Tex. Its 15 wind blowing 22 and feels like -2. Im 62 and have seen this three times now. And rolling blackouts.
  2. So I did a 50-50 mix with zerex the green, if it matters. Anyway the lowest I got was -22. How do you folks protect your eng. in negative weather like that?
  3. Thoroughbred diesel had them for 16.98 and shipping was 17.98. Got it coming.
  4. So Ive got two leaks going on, one is leaking out of the drain spout and the other is the plastic housing that screws to the side of the housing. Ive looked at several auto parts stores. I checked napa on line and cant find anything under fuel filter housing. I feel like dodge would just be a waste of time, it would just be discontinued like everything else. Any leads on this?
  5. Im new to the turbo talk, when I bought mine I went to DAP and explained what I do with the truck and they suggested the 57 65 12 borgwarner all I can say is I'm thrilled how it performs. Its good up to 400hp and when im on flat ground it has no boost and the slightest hill it responds without accelerating. Perfect for hauling, it cools down a lot faster than my stock turbo. As soon as I back out of it temps drop real nice and when loaded I pull off and its cooled down to 275 in no time. When down shifting it will come down to 200- 225. Im running stock except for 50hp injectors and getting 18 mpg with loaded out tool boxes. If I had to guess the weight Id say 9k lbs.
  6. Its still dropping here a little at a time. 3.73
  7. 57 65 12 Screaming Eagle is what Im running and thrilled to be running it. It spools faster and cools down faster. Zero smoke running DAP flow matched 50hp injectors. Are you saying if it doesn't have holset on it they wont pass it? No doubt the borgwarner is better than the hx35 in spool and keeping it cooler and cool down time.
  8. It was 3.97 when I started this, same station today was 3.78.
  9. I dont follow what your saying, Amsoil 5-30 synchromesh isnt on the gear lube index its on crankcase? When I say 17-19K thats combo weight. I have tip the scale at 27K once with this truck. Summer time temp somewhere around 100, with temp gun was approx 175 with Amsoil 5-30. Ive got a report coming back as of today. Ive been hauling same weight travel same rd same speed on return. Temp outside has been 75 both days. One more load to haul tomorrow with another oil. Granite this is no scientific test its all on temp.
  10. Comes recommended by SuperStick transmission. He races what he builds, fastest manual builder I know of. My nv5600 was just built with Super Synchros, what those are I dont know but he is one if not the best rebuilders. The pto covers have a bluish tint right in the center where the gear splashes oil that tells me friction is high. It needs a thicker oil, I dont see how a 5-30 in south Tx pulling 17-19k trailers is ever going to do the job. At this point I dont see anyone building a oil to fit the needs of these transmissions. What choice do we have? I know of several people with over 80k using this oil. Im jumping in with both feet and I'll let you know what happens.
  11. Only thing I have is I had a crossover tube slide down on me and I fought that for 20 min. before I figured it out.
  12. So it took a while and almost bought the wrong fluid. But here it is, Valvoline Heavy Duty sae50 Full Synthetic. It has to be part# val 706035m The first NAPA parts person tried to sell me what they thought was full syn. but its not. That part number was 329, wrong fluid. The guy came to me and said your running a Dodge, right? And right then I said this is the guy I need. Had my nv5600 rebuilt and the builder said good to go, he recommends it over Amsoil 5-30. Its to thin down here, 50 weight is needed.
  13. Im new to the nv5600 so I been digging up info on how many qts should over fill. I read everything from 4.5 to 7qt. Im running 6 in it now but if any of you are running 7 Id like to hear from you. Thanks
  14. I saw 3.97 diesel today at walmart, central Tx. Is it coming down else where?
  15. Happy Thanksgiving all you gearheads.
  16. I suppose you tried cycling the ignition switch three times for codes? Thats where Id start, but it sounds you know whats going on. Vp is famous for weird fuel problems.
  17. Cody is rebuilding my NV5600, should be out end of the week. He said check with him Sunday and I maybe able to pick it up. I though damn thats nice of him to offer to come get it on a Sunday. I have heard nothing but good things about him.
  18. I get it,I understand it. I run on any given day 4 pices of equipment that have no safety switch on the clutch, for 27 years I ran heavy equipment and no safety switch in any of it. When I park in my garage I have a curb just like the ones you see in walmart and thats because my garage leans downhill and I put it in neutral everyday start truck and let it warm up against that curb. I still check it regardless before start. Ive been doing this all my life and never had not even a close call. When you have driven clutch operated vehicles all your life its a part of life. My 2012 Dodge 1/2 ton is the first auto Ive ever owned, nothing worse than popping your knee out of place looking for the damn clutch. Thanks for the post
  19. This truck hardly gets driven it only has 85k on it and it started smoking slightly on start up very seldom about a year ago. Fast forward and it has increased in smoke and how often it smokes on start up and there have been times when a huge cloud of blue smoke will cover the tailgate. So it has a very slight miss to it, you wouldnt even notice if you werent feeling for it. Has no stored miss codes but the miss is there. Ive been really thinking hard on this and Ive seen worn valve guides smoke but this is more than that. I am starting down the road of valve guide seat coming loose in the head making the huge smoke cloud ever so often. Im sending in a oil sample just to make sure its not lifters or cam going south but I dont see how that would make it smoke. It seems if it were cam lobe and lifters it would start rattling. I have heard of aluminum heads having this problem but not sure how it happens. I bought this truck with 50k on it so I dont know all the history.
  20. I got ya, Im a farmer by trade and everything I have is old school including me. lol I was made before the safety seals were put on everything. I dont know how we made it. 2002 is new tech around here. Im lying I actually owned a 2005 dully for about 5 years, sold it and bought another tractor. Have a good one my friend.
  21. I have to really mash it to the floor to start truck. I was wondering if I could cut the wires tie them together then clip it back together and do away with the switch?
  22. Just had Inland Truck replace ujoints and balance drive shaft, they are not grease able I know that. I didnt think to request greaseable joints. Funny how the price was just about the same, 670.00. Dropped trans off with SuperStick Transmissions yesterday, he said it would be out sometime middle next week I'll let you know how that goes. I just hope its nothing compared to the nightmare I had with Powertrain.
  23. Just had Inland Truck replace ujoints and balance drive shaft, I would hope they would have caught that. Trans has 275K It needs looking at Im sure. Its not leaking something is knocking the seal out of the case, I also have a driveline whine I think it all has something to do with it.
  24. I remember the days when I could do all that in a day now its 2-3. I got that box I was sending ya, it'll be on its way tomorrow.
  25. Yeah, Im stuck paying the 4k plus to exchange a trans I know for a trans I dont know just like the other truck. It sounded good for a little while. We could have done some videos also, the entire left side of the eng is coming apart to stop leaks and do the WT mod.
