  1. Sorry, halfway done with the die grinder.... Then I'll move on to the hand sanding
  2. So today I picked up (or rather payed for) @TFaoro's old 3 piece manifold, because why not. A few coats of paint made it look new again. I also took a page out of Tyler's book and went ahead with polishing my compressor cover, because I think it looks nice and I know it'll annoy him.... I'm only about halfway done in these pictures, as I ran out of sandpaper for the night and have a test that I should be studying for as well
  3. New pump should be here on Saturday. Then I can focus on other mods for the truck!
  4. If you're interested, there's a guy half an hour north of Denver who has a pump on a cracked block. $450 if you pull it yourself.
  5. Nick where can I get that shield. I need one yesterday haha
  6. Well that was a little more ouchy than I was ready for, but I bet it'll be worth it in the long run. And, according to DAP's core policy, they are no longer taking any core. It does have to be the same type of pump as the one you ordered...
  7. It wouldn't hurt. As I found out yesterday, the VP will go bad with no warning...
  8. Well, Tyler has just about talked me out of a used pump. It looks like the industrial injection pumps are on sale through DAP for $250 off. Is that worth it over the $985 pump they offer?
  9. Yeah that's the issue I'm having, since I want to switch to a SO pump. Good thing Tyler broke a SO one and we can swap!
  10. That is the question. I have a reman SO VP out of Tennessee lined up for 500, it's got 20k on it. But the guy who bought it never got a chance to use it (he bought it with 20k, then his trans died), so it's been sitting for a little bit (since February I think). Thoughts?
  11. DAP is who I went through for my injectors and other odds and ends, and they do have very good customer service. And just under 1k for a VP is very fair, compared to other places I've seen
  12. This thread is where I will post updates of my modifications, issues i've had, and potential upgrades I'm considering. This page is dedicated to @TFaoro, because without him my truck would be bone stock still.... To start off, today my VP died. It took me by surprise, as it gave no indication there was an issue. But, it threw Death Code P1691, and that's that. Good thing it died before I bought tires. Is DAP everyone's first choice for a new VP?
  13. But it still had the void sticker covering the VP plug. You sliced through it when you stole my VP that one time
  14. I'm gonna answer your questions in reverse order. Sorry. - VP was on the truck when I bought it. I'm pretty sure it was the original. - it has 138,4xx miles on it - The VP has been fed by the fass for just about 9000 miles now.
  15. Bet you're right. Too bad I'm rockin a Chevy Equinox right meow.
  16. Well it happened again on my way to the store. So I'm assuming it's ded. Lesson learned.
  17. It's strange, the truck will drive just fine, and then there will be one time where I push the clutch in, it'll rev up to 2K, come back down, shudder below 500 RPM and die. Then I can crank and crank with no smoke, and if I let it sit for a few minutes, it'll fire up like normal and I can keep going.
  18. @TFaoro I found that article too, and the VP passed it earlier today.
  19. See, the Smarty lists code P1691 as "Fuel System ESS RPM Error" in their little booklet, so I was thinking I could hotwire the FASS if needed, but then Tyler taught me better and his exact words were "you'd better pray that code doesn't come back". And praying I am. Yeah right!
  20. Bank account says no. :'(
  21. Well, another VP44 has received a kiss from Death today.... The P1691 code showed up, went away, and thankfully hasn't returned as of yet... Coincidence that this happened a mere 8 days after @TFaoro's pump died? I think not! Moral of the story: If you are around with Tyler's truck breaks, run! Otherwise the bad juju will make it through a tow strap and into your own truck... Now to wait for the inevitable death of my pump
  22. Oh yeah... Derp...
