  1. Should I buy an aftermarket one?
  2. Here’s the plan: I ordered a Mag Hytec double deep trans pan, when i is y’all that I’ll install new fluid and filter and adjust the bands and bump up the line pressure to what? I found some info on how to adjust line pressure. I don’t see myself doing much power mods any time soon but if I were to go up to say around 350 hp what are we gonna need to keep the trans healthy? Also would a shift kit benefit my stock trans and truck right now?
  3. IT seems as if keeping fresh fluid installed and cool and adjusting bands is the key to like of the 47re?
  4. Thanks I’ll look into that article! I also need to do the WT mod to prevent more lockup issues.
  5. I can see myself forgetting that a lot. I think I should leave the switch alone but the mag pan sounds like a good upgrade and also maybe bumping up line pressure and adjusting bands to start as far as trans stuff goes. Fuel system is next.
  6. Thanks! Nothing crazy heavy but I want to be able to tow 1 Tom trucks with out worry. How do I bump up line pressure? Is this going to compromise the life of the trans or other parts?
  7. Howdy guys it’s been a while since I have posted! A lot has changed in the last few months. I sold the 2000 6 speed and bought a 99 24 valve automatic trans. The new truck has 102k miles. No rust absolute mint condition all original. I’ve got a few questions regarding the 47re that is in the new rig. First thing I’ll be doing is gauges. Trans, fuel, and boost. First off I need a rundown on what a tc lockup switch is and how it works and will it benefit my stock trans. Next is they’re some upgrades I should do to help with trans longevity? Truck is all stock with no plans to add any power. As of now the trans shifts perfect. I know some people will say I’m crazy to sell a 6 speed and buy an auto but that’s what I wanted I guess.
  8. Now that I have stock injectors I decided to give a used smarty a try. So far I’m pleased. No wiring no check engine light and feels like a lot more power although it’s no more than most canned tuners. I’m happy for now.
  9. I am 100% stock right now and last tank was 17.4 and I can telll this next tank will be even better.
  10. Mike I have struggled financially all my life. I find that if your can cut out some small bills that you know you can do without it really does help. Idling you have any subscriptions or anything like that that you truly don’t need but I’m just saying that it helps more than you think.
  11. No tuner right now. Seems like my truck don’t like tuners. Pigs as in slow or fast? My biggest concern is that sometimes it runs good and smooth and sometimes it don’t. That’s what has me stumped.
  12. Take it easy and move slow.
  13. Who cares about free time. Mike you need money and you are acquiring work that will pay BILLS!
  14. Yes it was prior. I had way high egts and lots of smoke and they’re still is a little bit but not much. And. Can’t find anymore boost leaks.
  15. I just fixed a massive boost leak. Replaced intake manifold and plenum gaskets and all.
  16. So my main issue is a knock. It’s only when warm and don’t always do it. I’ve also noticed higher egts and a decent amount of black smoke which is supriseing for stock injectors? Also seems very gutless but that’s problably from stepping down in injector size. Can anyone suggest some remedy’s for my issues before I sell it and go buy another that runs right?
  17. Nice truck! Looks very sharp! Wouldn’t mind seeing some more pics!
  18. Likely your abs wire got severed or your wheel bearing is toast.
  19. Thanks for the replies sorry I haven’t been around for the past few days. So I’m going to have the truck aligned and ask for more caster and give them a new set of camber bolts?
  20. this is what a 24 valve should sound like. This truck idles so perfect. This is what I need my truck to sound like! On a side note the 1693 code disappeared.
  21. Thanks for the info. I’ve been told moving the chamber forward can help with steering return and such is this true?
  22. Mike I have the regular ratio. Blue top box already and the truck is not easy to steer. It’s not like it has no power steering but it just has resistance. Is it because of small tires and the regular ratio? I still need to take it in for a full alignment and have the caster and camber adjusted.
  23. This has me interested. Is your truck easy to steer? As in the power steering is working well? We need some photos of the box and components installed if you can.
