  1. Can you tell by looking between the fan and radiator if it is dirty or plugged? I don’t see anything on they’re but Iv always had the stock ccv so surely it is plugged...
  2. Hopefully soon I can get an adrenaline. Iv been running 75s with a fooler and elbow for to long. Don’t get me wrong it’s got some pretty good power but it’s got a fair amount of lag as well.
  3. I don’t have access to Facebook for personal reasons. Would I be crazy to put a few signs around town with something like Light Automotive Repair bla bla being an 18 ye old with not tons of experience? Good news is I start Sept 3rd and will be a mechanic full time! Hoping I will learn a lot! The goal is to open my own shop in a few years after I’m ASE certified and be a Cummins specialist....
  4. Mike if this is against the rules to post about this vehicle please delete. I have started doing all the maintenance on my parents vehicles and the Sienna has a bad pull to the left. What causes this? I have checked fronwheel bearing play but nothing. Stuck calipers? Thanks!
  5. Always wondered what a blend door is clue me in please?
  6. Anyone know what would cuase an intermittent click under the dash? It don't happen very often but it drives me nuts when it does it. It's kind of a high low high low click. Also when I left for work this morning it sounded like my fan was running? What would cuase it to run when temp is 45 outside and coolant temp is under 140 degrees?
  7. Planning to pull grille and radiator first thing. Yes it looks very small in the compartment. Lol. Thanks for the tips!
  8. Thanks for he tips guys! Other than doing good work and all how can I get customers? I’d like to do work I. The side starting now. I have done a couple oil changes and rotors and pads but nothing more.
  9. Hmm I don’t wanna trip people off becuase I’m not very experienced and I’m young. Is 20$ an hour too low?
  10. Hi fellas! I’m just starting out into the mechanic world! Been working on my own vehicles for a while but I’m now working on other people’s cars and trucks. I am starting a full time job soon. My question is wha do you think a young man is worth as far as price to charge per hour when it comes to mechanic work? Some professionals can charge anywhere from 60 to 120$ per hour and I know I’m not worth anywhere near that of course but what would seem fair to you guys?
  11. First time to post anywhere but he second gen forum so here goes. I’m working on a 81 C70 tandem axle dump truck with the Chevy 427 v8 engine. I have to pull the engine out as it needs replaced and I’m curious if anyone else has done this? Anyone take the cab off or what? Any tips or suggestions would be awesome!
  12. How can I tell if my a lrefund is LSD?
  13. So I came across a web link with some great information. I’ll leave a link below. This website tells you all about maintenance intervals and fluid amounts etc. I plan to change my diff gear fluid soon and I plan to use Scaeffers 75w140 gear oil. Iv heard talk about adding a friction modifier? I’m curious if anyone knows about this stuff and how much is needed per axle? http://www.cumminshub.com/5.9-24v-cummins-maintenance-schedule.html
  14. At least 150 to 170 degrees. I drove home from talking to my friend and let it cool for maybe 15 minutes or less before I tore into it. The valvetrain was still hot enough to almost burn me.
  15. I see what each on of you guys are saying. All I know is my truck ran better and stayed right on 0.010 and 0.020 when I did it hot.
  16. Same as a cold engine. 0.010 and 0.020
  17. I’ve got an oil leak at this location and I bought new seal kits for both pumps but not sure how’s to go about this? Anyone got a step by step guidelines? Thanks
  18. I have a oil leak from they’re also. What part number kit did you buy?
  19. The following is not meant to create an argument just to simply explain my personal results and what I honk is right when doing a valve lash job on my truck. So everyone here has told me and untold amounts of other members here to do valves on a cold engine. Wrong. Valve lash must be done on a warm engine to get good results. The reason behind this is simple. When the tappets get hot they expand and when they get cold they contract. So if you adjust your valves while cold when you operate your truck the valves are going to expand and not allow proper intake and exhaust valve operation. I personally tried to complete an adjustment 2 times on a cold engine and both times my truck didn’t seem to sound right. Something seemed wrong so after removing the valve cover and checking the lash I found that the valves were to tight! I reset them and still things weren’t right. I asked a friend who owns an 02 900 hp 24 valve what was up and he asked whether I did them hot or cold. I told him cold and he said ahh there’s your problem and proceeded to explain the expand And contract theory and said go home right now and do it right away. I did as he said and today rechecked the lash at approx 2k miles later and the lash is exactly where it needs to be and the truck is running amazing! This is my personal experience and I’m not saying I’m right and your wrong but I know that my truck now runs very well and I’m happy.
  20. Planning to replace hoses as well. What temp thermostat do I want? And where is it located. I didn’t see a thermostat location in the article.
  21. Ahh thank you didn’t think to look in the articles.
  22. Could I get a step by step guide to doing a coolant flush? I have never done it since I’ve owned the truck and who knows when it was done last. I will be replacing the thermostat as well. Thanks
  23. @SilverMoose How has mpg been with the bigger tires??
