  1. That is very interesting. Wonder if its just the difference between 24v and 12v. 55mph is definately one of my lower lugging speeds, which is still 1600rpm or so. I seem to have to be doing atleast 60mph to keep from having it lug up hills. I would have thought I would have an advantage over you and everyone else since you all have 4x4s and bigger tires and all. I do 70 at 2100rpm.. You don't happen to have 4.10's do you? As for going up hills I will go up any hill down to 60mph which is around 1700rpm, I think. On my trips there are several steep hills that I reach 8psi/800f on. I think I will fill up tomorrow because I am tired of waiting so long to see what my results are. Then I will try it at 60mph.
  2. I have obviously never seen a magnum, as I have never seen anything like that. Nevertheless, I want to put a 4bt in it. LOL Very nice! :thumbsup
  3. I have one main thing I am wondering about. Earlier in this topic I read about dorkweed saying going slower up a hill the egts climb and so does boost, M3M claims the opposite. Now I have noticed the same thing as dorkweed, anything under a certain speed seems to be lugging it and sends the EGT's through the roof. The break even speed on mine, seems to be from 60-65mph, where the boost and EGT's stay the lowest in relation to the hills I have to climb. I am currently running a test to see how many mpgs I can get out of it at 65 going up and down hills with the cruise set. I would go without the cruise but I want it to be an exact test. I drive the same highway every day, 67 miles round trip with no traffic or anything so its about the best test course you can get. I am not driving anywhere else. When I can finally get this tank to run out, I will try it at 60mph. Though I might just have to start doing half a tank testing since it takes 2 weeks to get down to half a tank (which I am currently at). I get 21mpg at 70 religiously so I should be getting at least 22 or 23 right now. I will be hitting the gas station at mile mark 737, 804, and 871. I think I will fill up at 804. Have to wait another couple weeks to get there. LOL
  4. Heres another piece to the puzzle. It got hot today so I ran it and it did it again, reduced to half the flow. I felt everywhere and it wasn't blowing anywhere but the two head vents I had open, just hardly blowing. BUT!, I set it on defrost for about 30 secs and it felt a little bit stronger, so I went back to head vents and the thing was back to full flow.. So it's almost like the defrost door just needed to be reshut or something to seal off better but I don't understand why there is 0 flow through the defrost vents when it goes into that limp mode state. I would think there would be backflow. At least I found the little trick to make it work, supposed to be 93f tomorrow and 97f thursday, along with the wonderful humidity that Missouri is known for :mad
  5. The only problem I ever had was with my Ford. I was at work, backed up 10ft, put it in D and it wouldn't do anything. Put it back in reverse and it wouldn't do anything there either. So I was ticked that I now had to rebuild the trans but was also glad it was at work, rather than halfway home. But then it renewed its worth when we got torrential rain for a couple days and had to get something down dirt roads and everywhere. We went through standing water up to where it started coming in the door, which is 2ft up, this was also next to a kinda big creek. The amazing thing was the next day I went back to the same spot and the water had risen about 10ft, across the entire field. Ever since I saw that I know the last thing you want to do is wait for a tractor or anything to pull you out if you get stuck, walk uphill! The only close call with the dodge was when I went out to start it one day and it wouldn't start because the wire going to the fuel shutoff solenoid had corroded off the positive terminal, which wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't happened the next day after I bought it :mad
  6. YES! We need pics mike! Did I ever show you guys any pics of my dads (now sold) 1967 shelby gt350?
  7. You could make a book on 2-stroke oil.. :thumbsup Actually, make one of the little known facts about diesels. Talk about the early ford's cavitation problem, the VP44 issues. Seems like any book you get isn't specific at all, and since there are a lot of issues with just one engine, they don't bother covering it. I can see it now:1. How a diesel is SUPPOSED to work2. Common issues that are not model specific3. Ford Engines; specs and problems with them A. The 6.9l B. The 7.3 IDI C. The Unsung 7.3 IDI Turbo D. The 1st gen "Powerstroke" 7.3 E. The last gen "Powerstroke" 7.3 F. The problematic Powerstroke 6.0 G. The cuurent Powerstroke 6.44. Dodge Engines; specs and problems with them A. The 1st gen 5.9 B. The 2nd gen 5.9 C. The 3rd gen 5.9 D. The 6.7 E. The Jeep 3.7 5. Chevy Engines; specs and problems with them A. The 6.2 B. The 6.5 C. The 1st gen duramax D. The 2nd gen duramax E. The 3rd gen duramax6. Transmissions; specs and problems with them A. NV4500.....Damn I would buy that book already LOL
  8. Reminds me of all the driveshafts the machine shop I worked at got in the winter when people would get stuck on ice, floor it, suddenly hit pavement, and twist the driveshaft right off LOL . Not to mention the people who came in for steel that showed you how long they wanted it by showing you the piece of grass they cut to length LOL LOL LOL
  9. $2.869 :wow I can run you up some of my $2.09 fuel LOL Seems to be only one Philips 66 selling it that cheap and I am trying to set a mileage record on this tank. I go 33 miles to work and I have set the cruise at 64mph (1850RPM :thumbsup ) the entire time. I am not going to do ANY town driving. There is a lot of construction going on but I feather it through there to keep it up. As for the American public's need for speed.., yes it's one thing to do 80 on I70 (70mph speed limit) but thats only if you are in a corvette or something like it. Not trying to say they are special and should be speeding but if you are going to speed then thats the only thing that you should ever see speeding. Semi trucks doing 80mph is complete BS. The part of I70 that closes in on St Louis, I have seen people doing 95 on, including a "U.S. Gov." licensed 300M, not to mention all the minivans doing it too 8| . I get my best mileage at 60-65, so even on I70 I set the cruise there the majority of the time. If only people knew that I rarely have to turn the cruise off for traffic reasons, since all cars just zoom by and there isn't really anyone going slower than you. It's pretty nice actually.
  10. From what I heard, Subaru is doing very well for the times. They make good products so the customers keep coming back. They have no desire to become a leader in automaking, they have the plants they have now, and thats all they want. This proves to be a very smart plan. They make X amount of cars and thats all they are going to make, unlike other places that build a ton of vehicles then have no place for them in the market. I think they were also the only automaker in recent times to make any profit. They got dealerships where needed and that's also IT. It's not like mcdonalds that has to have a share of every single cities profits, no matter how small. But yes, all the outsourcing is ridiculous, and it seems like everyone's solution is to just get money from the goverment over and over. What ticks me off is the fact that there are nothing but 40-50mpg diesels in Europe in every single vehicle. Why they haven't brought this to America is beyond me. You KNOW a 30mpg f150 would sell like hot cakes. I don't know about other places but diesel is $2.09 here compared to $2.44 for gas. So now would be the time to introduce diesel vehicles to America's market. :smart
  11. I don't think so because it doesn't go to the defrost vents at all and it all stays ice cold. I am still waiting for another hot day B)
  12. Exactly, which is why it is throwing me for such a loop. Maybe its backfeeding it through the cowl LOL
  13. No no LOL The A/C still works. Everything still works, the heat a/c, everything, the air flow coming out of the vents just almost stops. Fan keeps running but for some reason it doesn't make it all the way to the vents. I swear there must be some air doors in the dash screwing up and closing off all flow to everything. I looked at it all and it has worked fine since. As for the A/C inlet, its behind the passenger headlight, up by the hood rubber gromet thing..
  14. Nothing but dust in there. Still hasn't got hot enough to test it again. >
  15. I obviously need a new cell phone. LOL Great pics. :thumbsup We get all kinds of warnings here, incuding last night, but I have yet to see one.
  16. I really dont think it has anything to do with the fan. It is louder than hell and hardly anything comes out. I closed the 2 passenger vents and found myself turning the A/C off of recirc and on low and turned the temp control up a little. So whatever I did (nothing so it will surely be back) has made it work. It was only 75 out though so we will see what happens when it gets back to 85.
  17. I looked under the cowel, stuck the camera in all the holes under the dash and never could find a trace of anything but some dust. I have never had any mice in the truck anyways. I thought it was a vacuum problem too, but the default is to go to defrost which it never did.. With the blower out it sure as hell blows a ton more than I feel coming out of the vent. I'll run some more tests on it :thumbsup
  18. Took the blower fan out and it is mint. Any deeper than that looks like some serious work. I am going to have to stick a camera inside there to see anything. I felt some stuff at the base of the heater core part so I will have to vacuum all that out. :confusedAlright, I have a small favor to ask. Can one of you see if your floor vents blow out anything on any setting but the floor one? I seem to have some blow by going on down there, not too much and setting it to floor or floor/head vents does kick the floor up a bit. I am just wondering if it is supposed to have some flow down there regardless of the setting, or if I actually do have a door not sealing the floor off correctly.
  19. I will have to tear into it all. But its just that it is not an all the time thing. It is fine, then after a while it stops putting out the air, the noise is the same but it seems to not put any more air out the vents at full blast than it does on the lowest setting. Usually I end up going down to the lowest (when it is working!) and then it stops blowing so I have to crank it way up, then I notice it will spontaneously start blowing more air at some point. But I guess something could be going in front of the blower then moving out of the way, who knows. Lets Tear Down!
  20. I have been having some trouble getting any air to come out of the vents after atleast 20 miles have gone by. It blows nicely and then after 20 miles or so you can barely feel anything come out of the vent. I thought it might have been a vacuum issue but I don't feel anything out of the defrost vents when it is doing this either. The fan always sounds the same, making a ton of noise but something is cutting all the air flow off. Any ideas?
  21. Does the dollar come with your business card?! I hear ya though, cummins2k. I am a year through college for electricity and couldn't even find an intern. I was getting on to work at a turbine generator shop and had to go through the state's services to get hired and they only want HS drop outs and people in need. I guess thats so everyone will be getting by in this economy. I know theres always a job for a welder, atleast around here.. I could barely find a summer job. Sat around the house for a couple weeks wondering. Pulled some strings, got people to put int he good word for me, and that was just to get a damn job at a hotel! Not only that, its 33 miles one way.. I been using 2 stroke like crazy, setting the cruise at 65, trying to get every drop of fuel out of it. If I were you though, I think I would just go in person to every business telling them you want to be their computer tech.. Might even go to all those colleges and be there computer guy. Or offer your welding services..
  22. I didn't know cable would get you going THAT fast! :wow I got a question though. Whats the fastest transfer rate on downloads you have got to? I wouldn't think you could find many downloads that are from servers with a connection to match yours. Like mine I got some that go as fast as mine and download at around 385kb/sec then I notice some sites just stop at 100kb/sec, which I am guessing is a T1 connection on their end.
  23. I didn't think of all the firewalls. I will have to go do some tinkering with that! :thumbsup Hmm, I guess this averages out to 3 LOL
  24. Mine blew out on me last March. Was just driving at 65mph and it just went out.. I did lug it a lot that trip, which is a big no no when in 5th gear. From what I heard, keep it above 1700 in 5th and dont stomp on it and let off (which basically just unscrews that nut). It is very easy to put it all back together. If it happens to me again though, I am tiging the nut to the shaft! > I was also 20 miles from home when it happened. :| But I think you all know that you just throw it in 4th and go to the shop and fix it. LOL
  25. My sisters vista laptop has a problem with kicking her off the net all the time. As in, every other minute. Seems like they all had that problem to an extent. The router is brand new (1Gbps) and when I reverted this back to XP I noticed it never lost the connection again. Not sure what the deal is. As for that 1.3ghz computer.. I had a 500mhz celeron computer 128mb that would load XP like nobodys business. Well atleast until the internet had its way with it. LOL
