Hmm, well I tried..
Had a guy come to me after seeing my cummins telling me how his 1st gen hit 330k miles and all this and then he says something about the fuel system wearing out and making noises and I knew the rotary pumps were lubed by fuel and suggested 2 stroke. He immediately gives me weird looks and all that so I tell him that his pump is wearing out from this ULSD cause I knew he had put atleast 100k miles of ULSD driving on it. He says ohhh no that cant be it, I use Lucas. Then tries to tell me how dumb I am for using 2 stroke. I pretty much walked away leaving it at "my truck has 315k now and fuel system dont make a peep." Just tells you how much the labels brainwash people. According to your HFRR thing ( http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/tips/cumm ... r/hfrr.htm ) Lucas makes it even worse. I just couldn't believe he was turning the 2 stroke down like it was work of the devil >

My work, how about yours?
Hmm, well right now I am in tech school to be a generator technician for the electrical half of it, though I wish they would have combined diesels with it too.I have had many jobs, started as a laborer at a steel shop racking steel, sweeping the whole place, went and screwed off in the machine shop which was well worth the ---chewings I got for being in there. Nothing compares to being able to run a mill and a lathe. After me and that boss walked on each other for a while I finally found another job at a construction site. I had never seen such procrastinative (is that a word?) people. Plus I had to be up at 4 to get to the headquarters by 5 to get to the job site by 7.. After doing nothing for 2 weeks I said the hell with it. Went back to steel shop. Got a job after the 10 hours at steel shop cleaning porta pots. That wasn't too bad other than the smell of that blue crap 8| I helped a guy out at a car wash that was so old you had to run the automatic by pressing buttons and turning knobs, and he prewashed the cars by hand so he had to prewash and run back and forth to the switches to turn wax, spot free, etc. on and off for the car that was in the bay. It was one hell of a hastle for one person. I ended up running that for 2 weeks while he was in the hospital. I worked for a guy welding the 53' trailers that hauled off scrap steel, basically migging for 10 hours without ever letting off the trigger. Think thats it. I want to move to colorado around the utah border or something when I get done with college, you can only see "new" things in Missouri for so long LOL

Alternator
I guess there at walmart but I would only get 1000CA ones, if they still sell them somewhere, might have to ask around. Also, do NOT get dry cells, I dont know what their issue is but I got the red top optimas and they were complete junk in the winter. They dont have the power to crank a 0f engine very good at all. Atleast that was my luck with them.

Alternator
The one I got is about 5 years old now, so maybe they dont care to make the 1000CA ones that I have anymore. I've been running this clusterfied setup in my truck for a year now without any issues. At 0f it starts just hardly slower than summertime temps, but I also run synthetic oil. I think I need to put on a bigger wire going to the starter since I bring several to a common point and then they feed just that stock positive cable. I don't think its big enough to deliver all the amps I have at hand.

Alternator
I'll have to check the voltage with a mutlimeter after it sits a while. Pretty sure last time I checked everything was still at 12.82v. But I will double check after I load test it. :thumbsup

Alternator
I haven't had any issues with mismatched batteries. I have a Everstart MAXX Extreme yellowtop (which is the best battery I have ever seen) next to a 1000CA generic brand battery, and then I got those 2 paired with another 2 drycells in the toolbox. So I got mismatched, mistyped batteries all in parallel LOL Never had a problem though. 12volts is 12 volts. I know your "supposed" to use paired batteries but I have never understood why, all I hear are theories and as you see I haven't had any issues. But I would love to hear your theory! :thumbsup

More 2 cycle oil stories
Jesus! I cannot believe how clean that fuel filter is. Mine is always solid black, practically looks like someone rubbed grease all over it. Not sure why mine is so much dirtier.

Electricity From Sun
I always thought it would be neat to get a very efficient little diesel and hook it up to the grid and get any oil you can that is waste, filter it all nicely until you got maybe 50 gallons worth, then start the engine and let it run at the most efficient RPM until it runs out of fuel. Then you should have a nice paycheck from the electric company. But supposedly all the components required to send power to the grid is not cost effective at all. I can always dream though. Especially if I had a big Lister diesel :drool

I shudda got it on film!
That reminds me of the time my ford decided to be a smart a$$ and pummel me into the steering wheel. I was driving along and I kinda got sidetracked, then it hit me that I needed to turn right, into this driveway off of a street. I was doing 40 and I had to stop NOW. Well in my dodge, the brakes are not the greatest. You can compare the two and the dodge has one big piston on the caliper of the front discs compared to the fords 2 big pistons per caliper. So since I had been driving the dodge, I was still thinking I had to mash that brake to get it to stop in the matter of meters I had. Well the ford came to a complete stop almost instantly somehow and my head slammed into the steering wheel LOL This was one of those perpendicular grooved roads so it had all the grip in the world, but I still had to glorify it in amazement when I finally got my marbles back. :D

Expensive fuel and speed!
Well I did 50mph for a while, maybe 150 miles, then the need to get there hit and i ended up saying screw it to the rest of the tank, running 55-65 for the rest of the time and with the state fair going on there is no way to get anywhere without evasive driving which includes lots of smoke LOL However, somehow managed 25.77 with 759/29.445gal so, I am very impressed. Not sure if the 50mph driving gave it THAT much slack in saving fuel or what. It did seem to be coasting almost the whole time compared to 55mph which was noticabley more pedal. But I guess when the next $5 spike hits I can drive 50mph everywhere :thumbsup Oh and I been using the recommended 2 stroke these last couple high mpg runs..

Expensive fuel and speed!
We had some bad ones too. A house got struck by lightning and from what I hear it was the second time, not sure when the first time was. But its in the middle of a field so, go figure. I thought you have that gasser dodge there to drive like that.. Maybe you see some good in it, I have no respect for gassers LOL I just found out my u joiunts are seized, two of them. Who knows how many mpg's were being stolen! Atleast now I can get some with grease certs, those were the OEM ones, 310k miles old B)

Expensive fuel and speed!
Hmm, I think 50mph is doable. 29mpg would be neat LOL I will top it off tomorrow and 50mph it hahaha. I see some unhappy people on the road >

Expensive fuel and speed!
Well since I dont see driving 45mph for 40 min, this was my final test. Though I will keep driving 55mph. Only able to get in 539 miles before I was forced to abandon the test since I had to go on a busy interstate today and knew I would end up ruining my mileage with on evasive manuever or another. So I filled up before I did any of that. 539 miles, 20.228 gallons = 26.6mpg That definately proves without my brushguard and towing mirrors and not useing the cruise control to economize the driving habit of it, 30mpg is reachable without a doubt. But that proves it. 2mpg loss for every 5mph gain.

Expensive fuel and speed!
I run 245/75/16, it was stock on the truck. I wish I could dig up that article from diesel power about the I think 95' dually 12 valve that got 31mpg by folding the mirrors, electric fans, tapeing around the wheels and front grill so it was all smooth, putting a brick under the pedal... Don't think he did much more than that, he left the a/c off, think he also put in a hotter thermostat. I just cant remember how fast they went. I am thinking it was 60mph. I am 379 miles into this tank at about 3/4, hard to gauge if its going fast or slow since the gauge stays above F for 150 miles then has its various rates in between f and e. I got a little turbo I want to stick on this to help that luggingness going up hills at 55 but have to look at how to hook it up with the big one.

Expensive fuel and speed!
I knew the rpms went up and the injectors fire more and all that I just wondered how much exactly it dropped. I do think I have got an average for each speed though. 70-21mpg 65-23mpg 55-25+mpg(need more testing) So basically it seems I lose 2mpg for each 5mph, so this fully 55mph tank should get me 27mpg. I might have to bend the mirrors in, get a tonneau, and take the brush guard off to try for 30 LOL

Expensive fuel and speed!
Test #2! Big results. Set the cruise at 55 everywhere. Except for about 50 miles of umm, lets just say excessive smoke and speed. Damn peer pressure. Anyhow I did very well at feathering the pedal on my local road and keeping it at 55 for the latter 3/4 of the tank (which the first 1/4 I was still doing the 65mph thing). Anyhow I still got 25.05mpg. 29.413gal. to 737miles. EGTs topped out at around 700 and 5psi. However this was without 2 stroke oil. So I am dumping in my quart and trying again as usual. I do have to thank you though, mike. I never would have dreamed of going 10 under if you weren't in a way, betting me, to go slower to get amazing mpg numbers. I do have one question. On your thing it shows 26mpg at 45mph in 5th, what mpg does it say in 4th at 45?

Best Buy
I find it interesting that everyone always blames spyware or something like that. I am not saying it is not the cause of slowing down a computer, but that is the only thing I have ever seen it do, and that was only on XP. I have been to every single website good and bad ( :D ) with every virus and spyware application disabled (defender, and whatever was on the computer when I got it) and all I have is Avira, which uses next to no resources. I have never had any problems with the computer slowing down (any slower than it was from factory anyways LOL ) and I have never got a virus. Maybe I am just getting lucky. But that is good that you could get a new computer out of the deal. I think the arguing is necessary to stop people from going in, saying their computer is broke, and walking out with a new one instantly. Just think of how many people would be in wanting a new computer because their keyboard wont type a letter because there is an advil under the key. :smart >

Tranny question..........
I second that notion. Have not particularly seen many people bragging on ATS, but plenty of them, if not all that go with goerend, seem to recite exceptional service. ATS also seems to cost a lot.

Expensive fuel and speed!
Finally got it to run out. Got 22.925MPG. Now I will try it at 60mph. Although the cruise control doesn't work very well going that slow on downhills. It lets off then jerks back to throttle all the way down the hill, just trying to get that 5th gear nut off. :bang: I might have to try without the cruise or something. I can't think of a way to "dampen" the cruise controls movements so it isn't so jerky.

were s the best place to turn up my pump and get more smoke
I had my timing bumped up there too. Haven't really tested it till now on mpg. If you want more smoke you can do a couple things depending on when you want the smoke. Playing with the plate will get you more smoke after the turbo lights up. Playing with the starwheel will give you a lot of smoke when you lug it and step on it. Starwheel is very easy to do.

Expensive fuel and speed!
I have to have a 24v to use a scan gauge don't I? However, as far as I can tell, we are both exactly the same on rpm/boost/egt. Be interesting to see what I got driving around where you live on the highway hills that get you down to 17mpg. Without a trailor, I have never seen less than 20mpg. Might just be the land here. Though when I went to colorado doing 70mph I got 21mpg. Got there on one tank and everything (720miles) :D I need to get a flow meter or something so I can have a scan gauge. :drool

Expensive fuel and speed!
Your 65mph egt/boost are exactly the same as mine. Not sure how the RPM compares though. I took this on the way up this morning so you could see where everything is on mine during my mileage runs. Think I can pull another 286 miles out of it? 8|

I forgot about that. Nothing my brother,me, parents; have use torsion bars so I am not too fond of them. I have adjusted one though :D

Expensive fuel and speed!
I wish I knew an easy way to figure out % grade other than getting out and measureing rise over run LOL The steepest highway hills I know of are when you are closing in on Branson, MO, going south on 65 highway. Wish I remembered what boost/EGT numbers I was running to get up it. What do you run on level ground at 65? Seems like your numbers aren't too far from mine after all. I always thought mine were high.

Theres always room for air bags > I wish I had something like that.. Other than this "ford" :red
