To Many Miles to party?
There is one BIG reason that they can get so much power out of a marine engine. An ENDLESS supply of cool water. The manifolds are water cooled, the turbo is no doubt, water cooled, the oil is probably ran through an oil to water cooler also. So the only thing getting hot is basically the piston.. Now 330HP looks pretty darn conservative with all the cooling dont it?. The intake air is probably also ran through an air to water cooler LOL There isn't a doubt in my mind that the EGT for one of those being stock at 330HP would not ever get over 1000F. You could also run the lake water through a filter and shoot it in for water injection.. The possibilities are endless with marine engines, vehicles dont have an endless supply of cool water and that is why we are constantly buying bigger turbos and doing anything and everything to get the EGT's down.

To Many Miles to party?
I wish I had 80-100 miles to shop! I love cruising the highway. One of these days, I will stick enough block heaters in it to keep it 190f all the time :D And one of these days my ford might be worth driving LOL

To Many Miles to party?
Yeah, I second what moparman said.. I have 300k and it shows no signs of stopping. There is one thing I notice that does seem to be hurting me though. Starting the truck and not driving it very far. The constant little drives that are not at operating temp add up and wears stuff out. I always drove a lot until I went to college, then the tiny little jaunts started showing, lots of smoke during/after startup which it had never done before, couple other things. So as long as you drive it long enough to put 10 minutes of driving time AFTER it warms up on it, every time you drive it, it should still be just like factory at 500k miles. Kinda impossible to do unless you have a car there as your grocery getter, but you get the idea of what a diesel is supposed to be used for.. I been contemplating using my brothers harley now thats its warm out, rather than continue to wear out whats left of the compression on my truck..

2 Stroke and the Common Rail
Will do! Will be interesting to see if it does help it start at all. I am kinda doubting half a quart or even a quart would do anything. But time will tell.

Diesel cheaper than gas, FINALLY!
That is just awesome! Fits so nicely in there too. I thought it would be too tall but I guess not. Now I need to make me one B)

2 Stroke and the Common Rail
I might have to do some 50/50 testing.. I notice it starts right up on B20.. But not worth a dang with plain #2. Hmm, so much testing to be done!

2 Stroke and the Common Rail
Alright I have been thinking a little too much about all this and as everyone knows, biodiesel has insane lubrication properties. Now, as per wal mart prices, a gallon of 2 stroke supertech is like $10-12, cant remember which  but anyways, I went through the veggie oils aisle and noticed a gallon of veggie oil is around $8.. My question is, if I mixed it at 128:1, same as with 2 stroke, would I get the insane lube that biodiesel is known for? Seems all the tests were run on B2 or B5 which are ratios of 89.6:1 (B2) and 20:1 (B5), if my math serves me right. So since I would be running it at 128:1, would it degrade the lubricity of the veggie oil, down to 2 stroke levels, would it still be superior to 2 stroke, or would it be a complete waste of time..? The only reason I am bothering with asking is that the veggie oil increases cetane and having cranked my timing up it does not start very good anymore, as in it starts at 40f like everyone else's starts at 10f, but the mileage is up so I am not going back >:)I just got a new idea, 50/50 of veggie and 2 stroke :thumbsup Well I need opinions now LOL

Diesel cheaper than gas, FINALLY!
Alright I have something to admit. My dream car would be a Lincoln Mark V that is black and put a cummins in it.. It would surely get 30mpg and I would love to see peoples expression when it starts spewing black smoke LOL I know, I am ate up, but I love those boats, they are the TRUE highway kings! I can't call a truck a king when they don't have the ride of a car like the mark V. I would like to take audi's quattro and make it AWD too. I guess I just want something that nobody expects anyone to ever have B) Plus I have always wanted a big highway cruiser :drool

Diesel cheaper than gas, FINALLY!
I remember a guy at a dirt bike race showing me his f250 the 92-96 style one with the 5.8 V8 and he said he got 20mpg out of it. Had a real fancy ignition coil and bunch of other things. That doesn't seem too far fetched if he just happened to get everything tediously set to max efficiency.. I wish I would have taken notes on everything he had done to it though :bang:

Diesel cheaper than gas, FINALLY!
Yeah my dad has a gasser too.. 1995 1500 chevy 350, gets about 12mpg all the time now, pulling the TT he gets about 6-7 compared to the 18 I get when I pull it LOL He used to rub fuel costs in my face so he would have something to brag about, now he has nothing >

Stacks Question
My brother plumbed his under the bed..just go back to where the passenger side stack is, send that stack up, and also send one over to the other side, all under the bed.. Its not impossible just takes some thought. I have always wanted to put a bulldozer stack(s) on mine, let me find a pic of what I am talking about Like the orange loader behind the yellow one has http://www.hercules-online.com/catalog/ ... A500_3.jpg I would keep them black too :drool I don't like that, curved angle look at all, but the straight up then straight angle look is just awesome.

Diesel cheaper than gas, FINALLY!
$1.89 for gas and $1.85 for diesel..

Diesel cheaper than gas, FINALLY!
I never thought I would see the day, but diesel is 4 cents cheaper than gas here. By here, I mean Linn, MO.. Hope the diesel market will go up now and resale will go up so I can get rid of vehicle #2 LOL

Trillion dollars...
I watched the U.S. Mint on discovery channel, or one of them channels, anyways, they had this room full of gold bars and it was hilarious cause they would get down to a gram with weighing them then they would roll them all over to the armoured truck and kick them off, not stacking neatly I mean KICKING the things off the tray then kicking them to the front of the truck. Just thought it was so ironic how they were stacked so neatly in the place but once they were destined for somewhere else they could care less. LOL

Trillion dollars...
GOOD GOD! Wonder what it would look like in gold bars :wow

Fog lamp bulb information...
I found out something very interesting, when you turn your brights off, you can hold the turn signal thing back instead of letting off and both the brights and the regular headlights will be on, it is brighter and I wondered why I couldnt wire it so that when the brights are on, both are on.. I just had a fog light go out and that aircraft light looks pretty neat. I always wondered about train headlights since I often drive at night and am always by a railroad and notice their headlights shine very very far. Not sure where I would get something like that, or what voltage they would run on.

Grid Heater - Disconnected!
I drive 1/4 mile everyday back and forth about 3 times, all week. So thats why I figured four batteries would keep it happy until the weekend, in which i drive two trips of 1.5 hours, I figure that charges them back up. I try and take a couple 15-30min trips throughout the week though. If I had more space I would add more batteries LOL
-
Grid Heater - Disconnected!
Did you take it out of the intake or just take the wires out of it? Guess I dont see the reason to disconnect the wires, unless your worried about it stressing the batteries. Then again I put 4 batteries in my truck LOL

98 Dodge Ram 3500
I would let that thing roll over back to all 0's, put another 50 miles on it, paint it, get couple other new things, say its brand new LOL

Fuel Systems Question
Now I am wondering why everyone says there fuel filter clogs with all the crap that the biodiesel cleans out of the tank.. I been running B20 every now and then to get it lubed up a bit. It is about 15 cents more a gallon than regular diesel but ahhh crap. I just figured and putting 2 stroke in WOULD be cheaper. Dont get as good of mileage on B20 either. I will pick up a gallon of 2 stroke today!

Winter Fronts - Best way to keep you Cummins Warm!
It has been almost 70f out a couple times and I left the panels on and it still didnt get too hot. It does finally close the range of the temp I see the thermostat close and open on though, seemed like it would get down to about a 20f difference on the 70f day it was more like 10 or 5.. I am going to bump my timing to 16* thursday so we will see if I can hit 30mpg from that..

More 2 cycle oil stories
You guys need to make a youtube movie of the before and after running of it with and without the 2 stroke.. Having a 12V i don't notice much noise diff but I have heard a lot about "you can hear the 2 stroke hit the VP!" and stuff.. I am very curious about that.. Every 24V always sounds awful to me. I was idling close to one, one day and i thought my truck was running out of oil! Nope, 24v is just that clanky LOL I have heard some that sound better though, I was wondering if that was the 2 stroke adders..

Winter Fronts - Best way to keep you Cummins Warm!
It was so cold out (6f), and I didnt have any wood chopped up to heat the garage. I said screw it. I changed my fuel filter, thats about the only thing I got done this weekend. Then after I got that done my brother showed up with one of those diesel heaters, the cylinder looking ones that lights up with the flip of a switch.. weather is going nuts here. It was 60f thursday..
