  1. Well I'll be damned. Time to buy another temp sensor!
  2. I keep trying to figure out a way to rig up intake temp to my overheard temp gauge lol. Flip a switch and it goes through the other wires to the intake temp instead of outdoor temp.. I don't know much about temp sensors though, and the one for the outside is plastic crap so I doubt it would hold up if I somehow got it into the intake.
  3. I got the winter front on, and I got the BHAF so it sucks in whatever heat is there I guess. I'm wondering if its a combination of the cold fuel and the not so warm air..? So many technicalities lol.
  4. Well the guy next to me at the apartments has an identical ford and while he was trying to find the problem, I bet he cranked for a grand total of 5 min without it ever starting, and this was some fast cranking the entire 5 min it never really slowed down. Upon going out and looking at his batteries, they were everstart maxx same ones, and he said those were from wally world. I heard a lot of stories of walmart degrading things to not exceed their low quality standards but that just proves those batteries are bulletproof no matter where they're sold.
  5. I was at wally town yesterday and they still got the same ones. 1000CA 875CCA.
  6. My personal bout with optima's has not been good. If you notice I have a ford also.... takes forever to start in the winter and the optima's just fall flat on their face, they have no capacity. It would crank good for maybe 20 seconds then it was pretty well done for. I found some graphs a while back showing the current coming out of them and it showed how optima's were better than lead acid for about 5 seconds then it would drop like crazy while the lead acids would be more gradual. As for which brand of lead acid, my brother has many trucks he tinkers with and never bothers to put alternators on so all the batteries he uses end up dead, but everstart maxx yellowtops gave him one hell of a fight before they finally gave up, they were drained to nothing several times and would always charge right back up and last a long time. Sadly, it wasn't the cranking that killed it, he left one in a truck with the key on and lights on for days on end. That maxx came out of my dodge and the other one is still in my dodge running top notch.
  7. Well I live upstairs at an apartment right now therefore plugging it in is almost impossible. If I did the extension cord would be so long I would end up with next to no heat. And it also isn't the engine temperature that seems to be doing it, the cold air just kills it with the timing advanced, it just smokes and smokes until you drive it, I think just having the grid heater settings bumped up will make it a little happier, but I'm not sure how to do it. I am thinking it works off of IAT.?
  8. Well isn't that just fancy. Is there a way I can set it to make them both stay on more because my advanced timing really hates cold air.
  9. One of these days I will get a common rail and get twice as many gauges as you lol. Very incredible video. I'm gonna have to get a gauge for the IAT, that is just too neat.
  10. Alright heres a video of my truck. Now here's what I want to find out. If you notice, the voltage is 11.7 while it runs initially, then whatever that something is lets up and shows the grid heater only drawing it to 12.2, then it lets off and 14v is seen. So what is the initial thing that draws it down to 11.7? Does the grid heater have 2 power levels?
  11. Just because you can LMAO. My parents got very lucky and the local ISP has been having fun with long range wireless. They been going to farms bouncing signal off repeaters on peoples grain bins and getting it pretty far out. We live about 10 miles from anything and got it and its 3mbps upload and download. They beam it off the water towers in the city. Very interesting and very fast. Doesn't have any of that drastic speed changes that cable has at 7pm. In fact most of the time its 3-4mbps.
  12. I've read all about that but they said they could give people cable internet speeds anywhere, as in, the boondocks, any house on the grid.. But all this frequency interference that might happen has been keeping it all just a within the house thing. Very sad. I always thought it would be neat to be way down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere with 5mbps+ internet.
  13. Well isn't that a bunch of crap. I hear the government also won't allow power line networking which they say would provide high speed internet to anyone on a power line.
  14. Everything is 1gbps. The onboard xeon lan is, the router is and the pci card in the main computer is. I do notice the wireless vista computers only going 54mbps are much slower transferring stuff. Wonder if they got anything faster out for wireless.
  15. I get terrible numbers lol. No better than 15MB/sec. But if thats the case, how is it able to transfer at 100% of 100mbps? Oh wait. 100mbps would be 12.5MB/sec so I guess its about right on. I tried finding things that wouldn't use the hard drive but might get it to a higher percentage like remote desktop connection. But I found that would be sufficient with a damn 10mbps connection. Theres gotta be something out there that I can watch the percentage hit higher than 12.5 lol
  16. I got to thinking and I know the hard drives use ata 100 which isnt that limiting me right there along with the packet stuff? 100mbps interface.. Im not sure though. I have the scsi's all connected to a pci card. Is there a program that will show me how much throughput my hard drives are really putting out? I can transfer stuff from one hard drive (the 3 raids) to the windows hard drive (ata 100) and see how fast it goes but I dont have any way to see how fast its transfering.
  17. I still hate vista hahahaha. I hate how hard it is to get files from one computer to another and I still haven't been able to get it to work. I can see all of them but I can't transfer files without going through password stuff that I don't know how to set. I can't find where you set it anywhere. Therefore, I drag stuff to the xp computer, then get on the other vista computer and drag it off that xp computer. Then for some reason I kicked my brothers laptop (same as mine) enough times that it is able to share files, I don't have a clue about how to do it though. I just build them I can't run them lol. I thought you would have had more computer than that. I got this dual xeon, a dual 2100+ athlon water cooled, a couple motherboards with dual PIII 1.4's, a 64-2800+, my turion 64 laptop, motherboard for dual slot 1 PII-PIII's, then about 10 computers that probably couldn't run windows 95 if they tried. Believe it or not, the main computer is a 2ghz celeron lmao. I cant believe the network speed issue is xp's packet crap. I gotta figure that stuff out.
  18. Yes rub it in lol. I like making the most out of old stuff. Though I think I hit a limit. I got the main computer with all the music, pics, crap, on a raid 0 i think it is, divided into 3 drives 10k scsi (OLDDDDD ones lmao) but the issue is that I got this one and the main hooked to a fancy router and everything is connected at 1gbps, but when I test it by say, dragging the 10gb pic folder onto this computer and watching the network percentages, the rate doesn't get over 12.5-13%, which is the same rate as 100mbps. I don't know whats holding it back.
  19. Yeah I posted it and said holy crap lol I got this 17" topped out on resolution. I knew core stuff was new but this is a old xeon.. But maybe xp has the same issues with it. It only did that for a little bit while installing that but I still thought it was weird. I guess the hyperthreading makes the dual processor illusion.
  20. I guess this would be for the more computer oriented but why is one thing doing all the work here? http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t303/ISXX/weirdd.jpg
  21. lol no prob.
  22. Guess I will try Amsoil. I'm sure the trans is pretty worn but I can't rebuild it right now. Thanks for the help.
  23. Figured I would put this here since its not for just one generation. Anyhow, they say you must get the fluid from the dealership or the trans won't be happy. The dealership charges $25/quart here so it cost's me $100 to change my fluid. I know there are a lot of guys using something other than the dealer stuff (castrol syntorq) and with my trans being about the most reluctant thing on cold mornings I wanted to know what you guys were all using. My 3rd gear grinds for a sec when going in like there are no synchros whatsoever but when the oil warms up all is well, so I am thinking there just has to be a better oil. Any suggestions?
  24. Well I don't have a mirror on the driver side either! Must be an east coast truck thing LOL I'm not much on velcro, I go straight to zip ties. I think your best bet would be to get more of that flat aluminum and bend it back to back so you have a clip to go around your visor, make 2 little ones and viola. Double-sided tape it to the beck of the back-up monitor. If you really wanted to get fancy you could design the aluminum to encircle the visor and kinda clamp onto it, then you would have 2 aluminum stripes on your visor when its up B) Then get your velcro, put it on one of the strips and another on the back of your phone then it will get good reception and you can watch it light up when people call. You will also have a place to stick letters and things that will fit between the strip and visor. Hmm I think you could get away with welding it all up and buffing the edges so it is so smooth that you can slide it over your visor. Another thing on my to-do list.
