Lift pump shuts off after engine starts
As ever John great write up with facts I use a mechanical lift pump and would NEVER go back to electric EVER my fuel pressure is 7psi ish at idle and 22psi at anything over 2k which my truck never sees, I have tested fuel return to tank and at 7psi (mechanical gauge) it is a serious amount of fuel, my fuel temps are never high, I've just done 200mile today and highest was 105f My fuel return goes back to the basket ....still.... I have a return made for the filler neck but haven't got around to it I don't buy into the 15psi minimum deal, I buy into flow return not pressure as my truck proves And my mechanical pump is a DTT which everyone slated as rubbish..... not so and my lines right now are 3/8th just not got around to 1/2" and I don't see the need I did change the return valve on my truck a while ago...... while chasing PSI actually made jack difference What I am not saying is that 5psi WOT on a rubbish electric chinese pump is enough, 5psi and 10 GPM return is fine I am saying check your own return as I have and I believe @Tractorman has And go mechanical lift pump and forget about all this PSI rubbish I swallowed a huge shipping, duty and Vat bill to get mine into the UK..... best thing I did

Bed mounted crane
crane did the job today It is the best most useful thing I think I've bought in a long time it's more than able to pick up from the right rear wheel area and into the bed without removing the tailgate had to remove the tailgate taking the rotovator off as no room on the right side really Definetly going to make a longer dipper for it

Bed mounted crane
My other truck is silver and parked just behind the shed on the left sort of a little behind the green truck if you mean the reflection in the back window thats my mobile trailer workshop other than that I'm stumped ??

Bed mounted crane
Wasn't delivered yesterday..... guess it was the friday feeling for the delivery guy I rearranged to collect from the not so local local depot at Leicester bout 13 mile away Surprised to see it actually sits inside a bed mounted tube with a taper roller bearing at the bottom so it can be lifted out of the tube and fully assembled it's quite easy to lift it out so no problem when I need to use the 5th wheel. It's rated for 900kg or 1984lbs at the shortest but tested to 50% over so failure is at nearly 3000lbs, at max out it's 250kg or 551lbs so at 50% over thats 826lbs At 826lbs I think I will be able to make a extension just to get a little more reach I also have a electric winch which I'm thinking of mounting low down on the upright and making some pulleys along the jib and down the dipper, we'll see Quite tall to be fair but my truck is too tall to get under any barriers here in the UK anyway so no big deal

Bed mounted crane
That's where I was thinking on mounting mine although I think i'll double nut it so I can remove it from the top as mine is much taller and I don't think it folds so 5th wheel towing it will need removed

Bed mounted crane
I bought another Howard gem rotovator last month from a friend of mine, he has a Chevy diesel long bed truck I asked him on the phone if he had anything to lift the rotovator onto my truck "yeah no problem" Turns out he's got a bed mounted hydraulic crane, lifts the rotovator easily Just bought a new one and waiting for it to turn up I'm thinking make a mounting that attaches to my 5th wheel rails so when I need it to be gone as in when I use my 5th wheel I just pull 4 pins and lift it off, this will depend on if the crane has enough reach to get over the side We'll see

COVID Deaths after being Vaccinated
- COVID Deaths after being Vaccinated
You can make of that what you will A year ago there was only 27% of the UK population unvaccinated that did include kids 10% of over 16 are not vaccinated now so there is 67 million so that's maybe 6.7 million If you do the maths, of the people that are not vaccinated ie 6.7 million 288 equates to 0.04% died in the period 1st April 2022 till 31st May 2022 if you then take the rest which is approx 60 million people then 0.04% would be 24000 not the actual 8962 that the above says so the % of people dying from covid in the UK is greater among the unvaccinated The maths are probably out a bit but you need to figure out the very low amount of people here that didn't bother before looking at the 288 figure, the vac figure deaths is 0.015% Like I say I don't care what anyone thinks or believes we're all adults- COVID Deaths after being Vaccinated
I fully agree with everything you say It is everyone's personal choice and this place is too friendly to get into a debate on stuff that's NOT trucks For information, last week here in the UK there was 800,000 reported cases, my guess is that it is really more like millions as there is no need now to report or isolate here, I didn't report but have stayed away from people On top of covid rates right now our NHS is struggling to cope with a rediculous heatwave where this coming Monday/Tuesday could top 40c or 104F, this might sound find to a lot of you guys but don't forget a hot day here is 25C- COVID Deaths after being Vaccinated
I just tested positive for Covid Monday just gone, fully vaccinated which here in the UK is 3 doses, this will be the 3rd or 4th time here we are right in the middle of another wave with cases going up fast but hospital admins NOT following the cases which is good I have felt terrible all week but carried on doing some repairs on vehicles at home albeit very slowly, where I didn't need to be around anyone else The vaccine does not stop you getting Covid, what it does do is give you a much better chance of not getting dead from Covid and usually what causes Covid to become really bad is the persons own immune response to the virus, for some it is a very bad cold or mild flu, for others it's seriously life threatening and with no obvious reasons why. Our neighbors got it before the vaccine was available, one of their 2 youngest boys bought it home from school Eldest boy never got it Youngest and the middle boys got it but not bad Dad got it and was very ill but stayed at home Wife and wifes mother got it and was in hospital in adjacent beds on same ward, mother died while in the bed next to her daughter, daughter survived, was on oxygen for over a year, now got long covid and is still not back to right Dad and his wife are fitness people wife went to gym 3 times a week Dad went running and biking all the time fit as fiddles They are now all vaccinated and have had it again with no serious problems I'm not bothered I got it as I think it's better to have mild covid every so often to assist immunity but I'm glad I'm vaccinated and over 50's here will get a 4th booster in september I'm not advocating one way or the other for anyone else.....- Something else to keep me occupied
Dropped off the outer engine cases and rocker covers to the machine shop to be blasted yesterday, they have made a start but are now waiting for parts- Tire Size

I see the truck in question here is a manual, I use 305/70/16 toyo mud terrain tyres which are 32.8" tall which is just outside the ideal for economy BUT My truck is auto and when towing I just don't use OD doing this puts my rpm at over 2100 at 65mph but here in the uk towing is restricted to 60mph on motorways so at 55 to 60 I'm perfect rpm and when not towing and using OD my truck choogles on just nice EGT's are never high, trans temp is always low and my mpg is ok I don't know what the ratios are on manuals but just because there is a pile of gears doesn't mean you have to use them, I just got lucky and got the tyre height just right for here as OD off is also just right for our 30mph urban speed limits as my truck stays in lockup to just around 30 ish- First drive with VP 44 project
I can fully understand where you're coming from especially if you have a 12v "in the shed" I'm very tempted to buy a non dodge 12v or even better a Man or Daf 4x4 truck that has a 5.9 and build a overland camper- Squeak/Screech noise in reverse only
Gather a pile of cheap tools off of Ebay or yard sales or wherever ( if you haven't already got what you need) 99% of tools do not have to be expensive Snap On or the like And stay a member of this forum as no matter what you are trying to do someone here will have done it before and the best bit is their advice and assistance comes freely and free. Fixing these trucks or anything for that matter takes time, patience and knowledge, the knowlwedge is on here, as @Max Tune said patience and time to do the job and no rushing is key. My brother is a good example, he's a great welder/fabricator but put spanners in his hand and something will go wrong every time Example... he buys a really nice Mitsubishi FTO... full body kit the biz, even I thought it looked sort of ok it was the smaller one not the stealth one, he takes it to the petrol station to fill up and the dumb ~~~~ puts in £20 of diesel by mistake ( In a rush), gets it towed home, drains it out and while removing spark plugs dropped something down a plug hole on the rear most bank .... V6.... never ever did figure out what he dropped in..... head off on the rear bank of these cars is a horrible job.... sold as a none runner last week after 2 years of it being parked Example. His son has a chinese motorcycle.... seized cos he didn't put engine oil in it so my brother finds a SIMILAR engine.... note not the SAME engine, fits it and it won't run So he calls me and I had a look and came to the conclusion that the flywheel and timing pickup were different and for one the wiring to his ecu wasn't the same So I tell him to use his flywheel and timing pickup and wiring, clown broke the flywheel in half trying to remove it, so he finds a SAME engine from a dealer that was removed for a seized clutch, luckily he bought it to me..... clutch fine but the actuating shaft was way tight it the casing so a casing change and good to go which I did I've now struck a deal with him, he does all the welding and does not do anything with spanners- First drive with VP 44 project
Have you looked at what Cat has available- First drive with VP 44 project
As @W-T says this is a major achievement and all credit to you @Great work! I hope that you can figure out how to put all your work into a plug and play box. Put me down for one. I can fix rust, and anything mechanical and I'm good at it too but I cannot do what you have done. Get it into a P&P box and market it- P0252 and not firing
As I said though when I took a look inside my breaker the contact area on the output side was tiny and all it needed was the start of a poor connection, just got worse from there- Squeak/Screech noise in reverse only
From what I remember the difference is that the linings are bonded on in a slightly different place on the shoe as in leading edge and trailing edge, IIRC the front shoe has the lining bonded closer to the top so that as the drum is turning it drags the lining into the drum surface the shoe has to be the same length or they don't fit in the drum and also the wheel cylinder and the anchor are the same distance apart so shoe is the same length - COVID Deaths after being Vaccinated
