Well MY VP44 died today
Hello all, Wanted to give an update. I ordered a SO vp from JKidd at DAP. I started today removing items to get the pump removed. So far so good. I will finish removing the fuel lines tomorrow. I will be replacing all filters again just as a re-insurance. I changed them no to long ago. But what the hell that's a few extra bucks. I will give a few more updates as I move along. Thanks again for the help.John

Well MY VP44 died today
I Thank you guys for your replies. I have searched around. Will be making some phone calls to the vendors, with specific questions on the rebuild aspects. If they have new or repaired circuit boards internals etc.. The removal and install don't seem bad. Just making sure to clock the pump at TDC. I feel I can do it. I deal with keyed motor shafts quite often, being a commercial/industrial HVAC/R engineer. I will also ask one of my co-workers in our transportation dept for some help, being we have school buses with VP's in them. Maybe inquire to purchase the P-pump off of one of the buses with a cracked block. I will post up results and asked for help when needed. Thanks again,John

Well MY VP44 died today
Hello, all. Was out enjoying the day with the kids after work. Drove to the park. Went to go home truck started fine, drove away half way home truck died. Lost power, dead pedal and pulled off the road. I had 15-16 pound of fuel pressure, called my dad he brought out my snap on modus and recieved the gift of the P-1688 code. I tried to restart the truck after a min or two after pulled over. it wanted to start but didn't. I could here the airdog pump running when the key was cycled. Truck had been running fine. When i was home I varied fuel at the inlet of the VP. tried cracking injectors 1,3,5. but nothing. I trust the knowledge of Mike and the others on here the most. Not to bash the other sites. Now here's the question. Yes, I searched this out on the forums. Who do you guys in your honest opinion's would be the best vendor to get one from? I'm not running anything crazy, just a Edge EZ. I thank you guys for the help.John

My Friends Repair Nightmare
I had a similar problem with my Ford E-350 van. The heads are aluminum and the one spark plug blew out. When it did it sounded like a big block with no exhaust. Had the same spark plugs as in the Op's post. They need a special socket to pull them and have specific details on interval for changing I believe at 60,000 miles. When the day it happened I drove to the local Ace hardware for some stuff. everything fine. Came out fired it up and you would have thought I was staging up against John Force. I drove back down the road to my jobs garage, drove past a local garage and the mechanic ran out to see what the heck was going on. So I gave the Miss America wave and rolled on by. LOL! Anyway had it fixed heili-coiled the head and it runs fine to this day.

Wastegate is toast.
Thanks Guys, I spoke to a buddy at work. Whom is a bus mechanic for the school district I work for we have a very large fleet of buses we own and service. I'm going to try to get a waste gate thru work hopefully at a better price due to the large volume of stuff they buy. Hope it works out. Also found this in E-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Holset-HX35-Turbocharger-Actuator-HX-35-Turbo-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a622419a2QQitemZ250754636194QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_500wt_975 Thanks, John

Wastegate is toast.
Hello all. Well I have been getting the turbo over boost code lately my wastegate is not rusted up. I tested to day with low air pressure. All I could hear was air hissing. It was coming from the actuators head. reached back and felt it. What do you guys suggest I replace with? Factory HX35 wastegate, turbo masters kit, banks big head or BD. I have no fueling boxes just stock truck with airdog 100 big line kit 5" exhaust. So blocking the wastegate would not work for me in this situation. Thanks guys,John

Help replacing rear axle hub seal
I believe it is (6 pt.) 2-3/38" That hub comes off and a theres a seal in the rear. It will take less then an hour to to. Might as well pull the diff cover and change the fluid. New fluid and don't forget the whale sperm (aka friction modifier). Good thing your pops works at the supply house.

Help replacing rear axle hub seal
Well, if you are handy with a welder you could make one from a piece of pipe and weld a few tabs around to catch on a side of a bolt. Just a idea to throw out there. Heres a link for ya. http://quad4x4.com/Dodge%20Tools.htm http://quad4x4.com/Dodge%20Rear%20Axle.htm

Help replacing rear axle hub seal
Hello, I just did that same thing on christmas eve at my buddies shop. replaced the seal on the passenger side rear. I have the LSD dana 70. So you need that giant socket and also you have to pull out the key way type pin that holds the seal. Make sure you clean that wheel and brake assembly with cleaner real well. Over all you have the easier set up to do. IT really wasn't that bad just make sure you get the correct seal. Good Luck, John

What year factory rims will fit a 98.5
Hello all, Hope all is well. I have the steel rims on my 98.5, but always like the nicer wheels that were on the 99 and up. I have seen the newer factory rims and tires on the trucks and they look great. I know they went to disc brakes but I have drums in the rear. I would rather have the older rims. Thanks,John

I need to tap the parking light/turn signal circuit for snow plow
I tapped mine at the light as mentioned. Being that the wires come from the headlight harness for the plow, and is right there. If doing a car alarm you can tap the parking light wire at the fuse. By the way we had a big snow storm that started late christmas day and lasted til 2 this morning dumping 12 to 26" so the plow worked great and I made some money. Thanks again.Good Luck,John

A warning, bottle bombs
Yes it is insane. That has been around for a long time. Just not talked about. How they work is you take a bigger soda/pop bottle 2 liter, Roll up a piece of tinfoil, long and thick enough to stuff down the bottle neck, to stay in place. When you use draino, or a emulsion cleaner I.E toilet cleaner. Pour it down the bottle neck, cap it shake the hell out of it. and throw it or place some where. Wait a few minutes the foil and cleaner start to react. and the gasses are being formed. The bottle will swell almost double or triple it's size, then it blows. It will literally shock you how loud it will be. It's like a modern day Molotov cocktail. Heres some examples. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU2ibQ6DEbs&feature=related
