18 to 19 PSI WOT

It's just a Smog thing. The ODBEC sets a code when the batteries have been disconnected. For example your check engine light is on and you can't get it to go off. You have to smog the car. Disconnect the batteries overnight and the check engine light goes out and you go to smog that morning. That afternoon the check engine ight comes back on. So if the batteries are disconnected it sets a monitor code. The car or truck has to be operated for 100- 200 miles, as trips to reset the monitor. They do this to avid cheating. That is my understanding. We ran into this with my son's car when he bought it. It had a dead battery and we put a battery in it and went to smog. No good. The guy had us put 75 miles on the car and then it smoged!

It cuts out everywhere, no rhyme or reason. Today I stopped and was letting the turbo cool down and it died. Pulling up to a stop sign and it died. When I had the edge connected I always looked at the fuel pressure and it was 17 to 18 PSI feeding the VP44. It's like it just lost the run signal, and that was in traffic. The fact that the oil Pressure gauge is intermittent, and the Map Sensor shares that 5 volt signal makes me wonder if that is not the root cause. I have to get it pass smog and into my name before I go much deeper. While I was putting the stock Air horn on and Heater I cleaned and replaced the battery terminals. Well that caused me to reset the computer and it wouldn't pass smog because it was in monitor mode. I have to drive it for a couple of days to clear the computer. I can't buy a break on this thing. Well I just can't catch a break. So they (O'Rielly) exchanged the alternator that was manufactured in Malaysia with a Bosch ALT rebuilt in Mexico. Installed and drove, no code thrown. Truck quit twice on the way to lunch. No code. So next thing is to trace all the Scotch locks that I can find and eliminate them. This Previous owner loved them from what I can tell. Also in my panel pulling I fond an Eliminator box? Reading up on it, it interrupts the Truck Brains so that you are unlimited on speed. Interesting application on a truck that he purchased used tires for (and he kept the receipts). So much for common sense. Michael

K Thanks! I think that we ran this to ground earlier. I'm beginning to think that pulling the harness and running fingers over it might be the answer. I just need to get this stupid thing in my name. I got a quote to fix the skin cancer today. BOAT Break out another thousand!!! Michael!

I think that I saw 3 wires there when last I looked on the oil sensor. The Map sensor connector had the lock lever broken when I pulled it. Need to find a local wrecking yard to purchase a replacement. Michael

Hi Did you ever find that Splice? I have an intermittent Oil Pressure Gauge and I think that it is the 5 v source? I need to find the splice or Share with the MAP sensor. Thanks Michael

Thanks, I found the receipt and taking to alternator back tomorrow to swap for a "New rebuilt" replacement. Gona try to swap it out without disconnecting the batteries! I need to get this pig to market and smogged.

I think that is a fuel monitor showing and that is what he was saying. It was really Bucking and Snorting today. O.K. Edge removed. Battery terminals and connecting wires cleaned and greased. Truck just hiccupped again this morning. Ran strong yesterday for a 30 min run. Codes are : Oil pressure gauge. Aux gauge installed. P1693 ECM ? I think that this is Battery disconnect related? P1765 Sorting that out now. Previous owner had jumped it. Getting relay. P0622 Well this is enlightening, intermittent shut down of a perfectly running engine HMMM.. It looks like a new alternator, but I'll bet it's a rebuilt !!! Tried to Smog it but the batteries had been disconnected so I have to drive it before he will / can smog it. Need a data logger. What would cause a Blip in Engine run signals? Thanks Michael

P1765 Transmission relay open or shorted. So I remember that the Previous owner told me about a Torque converter Lock-up switch. He said that you could use it to lock the converter in second gear while pulling a grade. So I assume that the Jumper wire has something to do with that? Mopar1973man told me about a Mystery switch that someone did, and used an old High Beam floor switch but I can't find that article. If I'm going to have to suffer the effects of the jumper then I should reap the benefits. If someone has a link to the rewire please share it with me. Thanks Michael

Hi All, Well the Battery Terminals were Gross. So I bought Larry B's Military Battery terminals and used an Industrial contact improvement grease between the Battery terminals and the Battery posts. cleaned and greased the Metal connectors and should be good to go. Hopefully this will address the intermittent cut in and out. Thanks All Michael

Hi All, New to me Truck. I was removing the Edge Transmission Temp sensor Wire when crawling out I noticed that the top bolt in the 4 link #4 in Illustration was backed out, right hand side. Aside from screwing back in with Locktitie is there a way to unload the link so I don't Screw it up? I assume (That word.) that Jack it up and support the frame and then just unscrew locktite it and back in she goes?

Help Please. I have to change out the Air Horn and add heater grid to smog the truck. Found a loaner Air horn and Heater grid but no bolts. I have to get the grid. I was wondering if someone knows the correct bolt length. I went to ACE and the longest that they have just stick out through the Air Horn. They are 8mm x 1.25 Pitch X ___ how long? Thanks Michael

Got my First Montana Mule deer in 2014. I used a Mazda G6, 3.8 liter. Returning to the airport at 5:00 A.M. and he come a running from left to right. in the snow, I lifted and I steadied my grip on the wheel and stayed straight. He went from the left front fender all the way back to the taillight. Rear view mirror into the drivers window. So I filed a report with the police officer from Billings at the airport. by the time I landed in Sacramento at 3:30 P.M. I had a bill from the rental car company for $3500. Fortunately I rented with a company Visa and they covered everything including the $500 deductible. Didn't bother to go back for the corpse, it was just a forked horn..
