New CO emission reduction plans
CO2 emissions.....................why in "Sam Hell" is the occupant of the white house "jet-setting" to Hawaii every chance he gets??? On "OUR DIME" no less. He's the biggest hypocrite that's ever occupied the white house.

Fuel Efficiency of the 04.5-07....
Judged a retriever hunt test this past weekend NW of Madison, WI. They were paying mileage, and I needed fuel before the trip anyway, so I filled up with 29.995 gallons and had 628 miles on the tank of fuel for a tank average of just over 21mpg!!! To and from the hunt test was about 130 miles each way with about 75 miles of driving to the hotel and test sites over the weekend. Had just over 400 miles on this tank of fuel before the gauge dropped below 1/2 tank!! Was a very hot, humid weekend here also. My truck has always gotten stellar mileage in the hot weather.

Trying to decide on what tires to buy...
I've had really good results using Cooper Discoverer ATR's and now Cooper Discoverer AT3's in replacement tires on my '04.5. And prior to that using Cooper Discoverer AT's on my '99. I've gotten over 70k miles on all my Cooper tires I've had on both my Dodge/Cummins trucks. Just saying, not arguing.

Back From Nevada
Got back yesterday from Reno, NV. Was there for 4 days to see my nephew/God son get commissioned into the Army as a 2LT and then to see him graduate from UNR. Twas a good trip...............very hot and dry during the day, but cool and dry at night. Went to see Lake Tahoe on Friday...........beautiful. My nephew got commissioned with 8 others on Thursday. Of the 9 of them, 3 are going into the Army and the others into the Nevada National Guard. At the ceremony hearing what all these cadets have done and accomplished, I have a new hope for the future of our country. If all the young folks had these kids gumption and drive..........................well you know. I'm very proud of him.

Fuel Rail plug it or leave the relieft valve
Leave it in. It's hard on the injectors without it.

Fuel Efficiency of the 04.5-07....
My all-time best mileage tank (23.7mpg) came running a steady 65mph for almost a whole tank of fuel. Only one potty break. The temperature that week was 100-106*F. One trip back from NoDak 5-6 years ago we had a good 15-20mph NW wind pushing us home. No trailer but the truck loaded to the gills and ran 75-80mph the whole way and got just under 21mpg. I'm a "contrarian" by nature. Don't follow the crowd and do my own thing. I guess I don't understand why it bothers folks to get passed on the highway. When I drive, I find it stressful to be weaving in and out of traffic passing everyone I can.

So what you're saying is that I drive "abnormally"???

Fuel Efficiency of the 04.5-07....
I essentially live "in town", aka. "suburbia" and regularly see 20+mpg tanks of fuel.................and most include trailer towing. Not a heavy trailer, but it's tall and catches the wind.

Adopt a Dog
He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog. — Gene Hill

Fuel Efficiency of the 04.5-07....
Sure do!! I'm just so glad that there was a Cummins repair shop in Sikeston, MO. Would've been a bit more challenging otherwise. You also mentioned "peak" cylinder pressure prior. The "multiple" injection events are there to lower the peak pressures...................to lessen the creation of pollutants.........................but create more total/sustained cylinder pressure. Think of an upside-down "V" as the single injection graph.....................and an upside-down "U" as the multiple injection graph. The upside-down "U" should be a lower case letter and widened for the proper analogy.

Fuel Efficiency of the 04.5-07....
Figuring from a stock truck; when would one start hearing timing (degrees backward from stock) rattle by advancing the timing?? If I put my Smarty on Timing 4, I get rattle at low rpm. Drives fine at higher rpm, but I like hearing it. I truly wonder where my timing is............as I've done the "tone wheel mod" and have my Smarty set on SW5 (default settings) which advances timing slightly. But as I said prior...................if I put more timing via the Smarty (4) I get rattle.

Just a Dog by Gene Hill Just a Dog by Gene Hill He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care fore me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him I am only another man. With him, I am all powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has promised to wait for me...whenever ...wherever--in case I need him. And I expect I will--as I always have. He is just my dog. From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand phases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog." just smile, because they "just don't understand."
