  1. I haven't owned this truck for a year yet, but as far as I know it doesn't have an OEM one, Haven't seen any secret switches or?
  2. I checked it with a scan tool from parts store first time, then when it went off again I did the ignition key trick, cleared once with scan tool, twice by removing ECM fuses under hood. Just started it up first time today and idle was surging from 750- 1000 something, I turned off the truck, and re-loaded tune (after 5-7 min. of it saying it couldn't connect!) Then restarted and idle was normal. No CEL today but can't help wondering if that's because I turned truck off before it had a chance to decide it wasn't liking what was going on?? Those were the only two codes showing.
  3. Those are the only codes, very odd and coincidental that it only happens when the quad high idle is activated. (So far) I'll have to test that theory over several days, but yesterday's first start of the day high idle was on, tapped the throttle and that code came on (light) cleared it, deactivated high idle, never came back on and behaved normal all day. "Chase wires to the rear" I understand it's a speed sensor or ABS code, but anything in particular I might check? Thanks!
  4. Thanks again! I almost forgot I did come across that link when I made my first tune. I need to keep reading over and over and perhaps it will start sinking in! I've forgotten most of what I've read already! And alot of it just hurt my brain ? And also need a computer with excel.
  5. Thanks Mr. hdpwipmonkey, every bit of info helps! I've been searching the web for over a week now and really not finding much info.
  6. Thanks, just did the ground mod a month or so ago. All grounds and connections look good, clean, etc. Fixed my shift wandering!!
  7. Maybe it's just me? I'll have to call quadzilla tomorrow I guess. I realize alot of the parameters are personalized and depending on setup, mods, ECT. But as far as warnings go, what's too hot for egt's, trans., Fuel, boost pressure? I'm just guessing a random number in-between quad suggestions. Then on settings, boost defuel, egt defuel? I'm assuming that would come in handy when towing. . I'm leaving MPG Offset off, don't know what it's used for? What's a safe temp for turbo before shutdown? (Turbo timer) sorry for all the questions but I need to learn somehow ? Like I said, not liking the hard starting when warm, anyone know if I might try tweeking something? Was never like this before quad install. Anyone have a stockish injector MPG tune? Thanks for any/all help!
  8. Throttle, (what you call apps?) Is at 0% @ idle. Doesn't seem to like the high idle warm up mode? Seems like that's when things get glitchy, I made my own tune based on your daily/with meat and re-loaded, I tapped the throttle pedal to make sure it was reading% (while it was idleing high, wasn't warmed up) that's when the idle dropped and light and same codes came on??! I removed fuses for ECM, to clear light, turned off warm up mode, idled normally, drove around awhile, drove normal, idles normal, no lights/codes, restart was still a little longer cranking than I'd like. Very strange.
  9. The issues went away when I switched to a different tune. The code appeared while idleing.
  10. Sure seems like a quadzilla or download issue to me. Didn't mean to say 3k too high for idle, but 300 or so too high, but that's in park idleing, (yes it's warmed up ), while in gear it wasn't that high , maybe 100-150 too much, but because trans is pulling it down? Like it never came out of high idle mode. And randomly a little surprise surge. Maybe that little surge was always there and amplified by the quad? But the issues go away (so far) with a different tune, hard starting, high idle, check engine light, etc.. How could that not be the quadzilla? Sure would be nice to find someone local with experience to hold my hand a bit so to speak. Reading only gets me so far, I don't have excel on my computer to keep track of data, and even if I did I probably couldn't interpret it? And can't seem to find anything on what the parameters should be and so on. Has anyone found a solution to be able to actually see your phone or tablet while driving in the daytime? Sorry to sound like a pessimist, but I'm beginning to see why the local performance guy was trying to steer me away and get the comp box, especially for a newb like myself? I'm not computer or diesel literate, not a good combo while trying to figure this thing out! Regardless, I have it now and I'm going to have to learn somehow. Still searching for the books, "quadzilla and diesels for dummies" Lol! Thanks for the help!
  11. Wondering if anyone else has issues with "Daily driver with meat" tune? It was running awsome for a day or two, then things took a turn for the worst. Started idleing around 3k too high, hard starting, 5-8 seconds of cranking (usually fire's right up with just a blip of turn key) check engine light, 0500, 1693, sitting at a light whilst in gear it would surge randomly and try to take off! Switched to a different tune and seems to go back to normal?? Honestly haven't driven much since. But lights out and idles normal. On another note, if anyone in Boise area could help a brother out who has experience with the quadzilla and maybe help me dial this thing in, fine tune custom tunes, settings, sensor warnings, etc. I'm new to this iquad and diesels in general and this is just overwhelming!! Plug & play? Kinda? For a diesel newb, nope. Thanks for any info/ideas.
  12. Thanks for all the replys, I guess I do have one more question on this ground mod, I get the whole mopar ground wire nonsense and sorry if I missed this somewhere. But why are we not using stock pdc alternator positive location? I wasn't blowing fuses there, if I continue to have issues with this breaker I might consider going back to that?
  13. Thanks hdpwimonkey, I almost ordered that one but decided to go for the "blue sea system" , a few bucks more, seems to be identical to that buss? But also had prime, just installed and so far so good. P.S., glad to see the sight back up, someone had a fun couple days!! ?? (Mike)
  14. Thanks Dripley, I can tell you the breaker I bought is a cheap Chinese, (zookoto?) Might be the problem?
  15. Hey all! So I thought I had this w-t ground mod in the bag, haven't been driving it much but today I decided to drive it because I'm working on the Buick. So now I can't get two blocks without popping 150 amp breaker. Like I said I haven't been driving much really but the only thing that's changed since I did the mod a couple weeks ago is I just recently installed quadzilla, not sure if it's got anything to do with it? I thought of just unplugging quad, but will it even run right?? Plus having quad installed doesn't make sense why the breaker is popping anyhow. Any advice? I thought I read somewhere were someone was having a similar issue, but he had all kinds of after market accessories?? (I don't) Thanks! Don
  16. Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will move my fuel pump wire to that terminal! As a side note for anyone that remembers the mystery issue with truck dying when put into gear cold, today it didn't, Wow! The weather is pretty warm though so I'll keep my fingers crossed, definitely seemed to help. Trans shifts smoother and NO MORE HUNTING!! Should have done this a long time ago.
  17. IBMobil, thanks! Not sure why that little tidbit is left out of instructions? Not exactly common sense for us electrical illiterate!?? Donkey One more question for anyone out there, One step l saw mention of that I've skipped up to this point is a cable between negative battery terminals? To balance charging rate? Can anyone confirm if this is worthwhile? Thanks! Don
  18. I think I figured it out?, breaker was tripped , even though it didn't look like it? Will go for another test and see if it trips again. But still haven't figured out if anything goes back were that alternator cable came off, I'm assuming it doesn't. So far so good, no more converter lockup hunting, hooray!! I'll be curious to see what else it cure's, (cold start dying when shifted into gear) I guess sometimes I just need to talk to myself.
  19. Thanks Jag1, So... Once original cable is removed, ( the one from alternator closest to windshield in in pdc box) nothing goes back on there, other than maybe the old nut? And leave original cable from drivers side battery on,(the one closest to battery) Thanks again! Donkey Something screwy going on here! Just went on a short test drive, alternator/battery gauge seemed to be lower than normal,11-12, then truck started making a horrible whining noise and check engine light came on, I hightailed back home and whining noise seems to be coming from transmission? Restarted and lights out but still whining, alternator has 27+ volts while running, doesn't seem normal? Any ideas out there?? Edit, read codes 1693, 1682. I believe one of those is charging too low?
  20. Thanks, that's understandable, but I should have emphasized my main concern is, Question: NOTHING gets reconnected to pdc?
  21. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, I'm doing the w-t ground mod and I'm a little stumped on the alternator charge wire. Maybe it was explained somewhere but I'm just not seeing or overlooking? So, we unhook the original charge cable from alternator and pdc and then just have a short cable from alternator to passenger side battery with a fuse/breaker inline? Question; so no cable gets connected back to the pdc? Why go to the trouble of disconnecting it at pdc and completely removing it? Just cut it and leave it? Am I missing a step? Thanks for any help on clearing this up!
  22. Thanks for all the info! Maybe a quad in my future?
  23. Thanks Moparman, I appreciate that and totally get how the quad is more versatile, assuming it's also durable, but back to the gauge thing which I'm sure most would agree should be priority first. Get the quad and deal with gauges it comes with, and possibly get real gauges later? Or prioritize getting real gauges and get quad later? Sorry, not asking for anyone to make decisions for me just want to make best decision possible. Then on top of that might have to buy injectors and or?! ? I know, welcome to the diesel world, lol
  24. Thanks for all the info guys! But like I was saying, I was going to start with gauges and was kinda led down the edge monitor path as being great choice and a good compliment to the comp box once I'm ready for that investment, but after lurking around here for a while I'm leaning towards quad. Then I read quad "gauges" aren't accurate whatsoever?? Then my head started spinning, back to square one, do I invest $4-800 on gauges now and save $700+ for a quad down the road? Getting out of control quick! So are the quad gauges really that crappy that I shouldn't think I'm going to get two for one so to speak? Just thinking priority right now is monitoring parameters? Thanks!
