It's Getting Worse Out there......
From Tucker last night “according to numbers from the Federal Reserve, between March of 2020 and last month, the total amount of U.S. dollars increased by 36%”. I’m looking into this to confirm, but if that’s true….well I just hope something is wrong with those numbers.

Anybody watched Tucker’s “Patriot Purge” yet? I’ve heard it’s wild, but haven’t subscribed to Fox Nation yet.

It's Getting Worse Out there......
Most of our lives things weren’t as bad as what we saw on TV. Today, it’s worse than the media would ever show. What’s happening is not cyclical. We are at a point in our republic where for the first time in its history, a majority of the leaders and citizens hate or have no regard for the foundational principles of its founding. Whatever happens, will happen quickly. I just try to remember there are still millions of good people out there, even though they’re the minority now.

Yea I would loved to have used Dynamics stuff, it just wasn’t feasible from a logistics perspective. So I’m working with these guys around here, and making sure they use the parts I pick. The warranty seems legit based on other reviews. I found the builders Facebook page but I’m not on Facebook. https://m.facebook.com/dieselconverter/

Good eye. That list was from notes I took on my phone while we talked. The Transgo recal kit comes on the standard rebuild, the new valve body comes on the upgraded rebuild I chose, I just wrote it down and didn’t delete it. Thanks for the good questions to ask. The builder implied the HD single was a good in between option if I didn’t plan on more than 400hp, and that he’d recommend a billet input shaft if I did the triple disc.

He said possibly sooner, but they’ve been overestimating the lead times bc of so many shipping delays…also his best 47re guy is on a hunting trip this week and I told him not to start until that guy is back. Also talked to the tc builder. He said “billet billet” means a machined billet cover and a cnc billet clutch piston with a larger clutch. He also said nobody else calls it that and if anything to refer to it as an HD single billet.

298K on the truck, and he said 3 weeks.

Yes it’s an upgraded rebuild. I’m getting the full build sheet tomorrow, but I wrote down what I could when he was talking through it…the only thing he kept saying that I had, and still have, no idea what he was talking about was he said I could choose between a triple disc billet or a “billet billet” single disc torque converter. He said the “billet billet totally different animal than a single disc billet which comes on our standard 47re rebuild”. triple disc or single” billet billet” TC (local builder) Valvebody is new sonnax with some TG parts as well (local builder) High Energy BW friction plates (clutches) kevlar bands updated servos HD sprags and roller clutches Transgo valvebody recal kit new electronics updated snap ring kit new governor support high volume oil pump updated steel planets when needed and any other parts that have wear. flush and fill $5500 out the door

There isn’t a 47re specialist around here so I know it won’t be an award winning transmission or anything, but this shop has 3 locations locally, I spoke directly with the owner, it’ll have a 2 year unlimited mile warranty, and a prorated warranty after that (90/10 year 3, 80/20 year 4, 70/30 year 5, etc…) We’ll see. The other “comfort factor” for me is that he owns a 99’ 2nd gen but he has a built 48re in it and uses it to pull sleds.

They only reason I believe it’s probably something bigger than a solenoid or sensor is because of the burnt smelling oil. I’ll know in a day or 2.

Front End Rebuild Suggestions
OP is running 35’s. When I first got my truck it had 35’s and I would get death wobble bad. Replaced track bar (autozone) and it went away for a month, then started again. Took off the 35’s, went to 285/70/17, replaced track bar under warranty again and tie rod ends (autozone), ball joints were still good. Death wobble went away and came back 3 months later. Replaced everything with oem style Moog stuff (including ball joints) and been good since. A lot of variables at play, but death wobble happens.

Oil Cap/valve cover gasket size?
You might be right, it very well could be an aftermarket cap, but my cap has an o-ring, the gasket in the pic was around the filler hole on the valve cover. The truck is about to get loaded up on a flatbed and taken in for a new transmission. I’ll add this mystery to my list of to do’s for when I get it back.

Good idea Jag, I talked to him and told him I’d like to at least use his valve body if this thing does end up needing to be rebuilt. Between the delayed parts and shipping issues he indicated it might be best for me to use someone closer, simply Bc of logistics and timing. Jon was a real nice dude. So I’m going to see what these local guys can do with his stuff. The other plus of using a local shop, I’ll have somebody to go back and strangle if they mess it up.

Oil Cap/valve cover gasket size?
3936876 is the only part I saw even close to this and came in oil filler tube kits for 12v’s and C series engines. Thickness of construction paper.
-
Oil Cap/valve cover gasket size?
Yea it’s not the o-ring, and I would have never realized it had a gasket there if it hadn’t peeled off when I removed the cap.

Oil Cap/valve cover gasket size?
Does anybody know the part number or correct size for the seal/gasket that sits on the valve cover around the oil filler hole. Took my oil cap off earlier and the gasket disintegrated.

Anyone seen any new 2022 Dodge Cummins trucks yet ?
The crazy thing is 68K doesn’t seem as bad when you compare it to some of the used truck prices on the same lot. They have a 2016 longhorn with 47,000 miles for 65K. All I know is when the bottom finally falls out of the superficial economy we’re living in, I will go to sleep well at night knowing I didn’t contribute to the insanity with my vote or reckless spending. Luckily for the unwise, the banks won’t have the resources to repossess all of the no money down houses, boats, rv’s, and vehicles sold over the past few years. My “close minded” WW2 grandads look smarter and smarter every year.

He’d be my first choice if I was closer, I’m in Tennessee. At this point I still don’t even know what’s broken in the transmission and will have to take it somewhere to have it diagnosed. All that is for certain right now is: -trans oil with under 3,000 miles is dark red, with some swirls of black residue, and smells burnt -truck won’t shift to OD without backing of the throttle -won’t downshift to first at stop (and maybe even staying in 3rd) -drove it 10 miles like this and parked it -all happened a month after WT mod -truck is stock with a smarty -don’t know much on the history of the trans as it was on the truck when I got it 8 years and 100,000 miles ago. I’ll do whatever needs to be done to make it reliable, but hate to spend big money if all it needs is a sensor or solenoid.

Front End Rebuild Suggestions
You’ve probably heard people referring to the adjustable track bar, if you have a 2.5” level or bigger it’s probably a good idea to use an adjustable track bar, if less than 2.5” you’re (arguably) ok with the oem style track bar. How long have you owned the truck and how well do you know it? Really should go ahead and change the ball joints as a set. Replacing the front end components is inevitable, and close inspection will likely lead to other recommended replacements as well. It’s way cheaper to do it all at once, especially from labor perspective and you can eliminate a lot of issues at once, like Death Wobble, which can be caused by several combinations of worn parts, or even just 1 worn part. If the Firestone techs near you are competent that wouldn’t be a bad place to have the alignment done, I believe they give a lifetime alignment option which lets you bring the truck in whenever you think you need an alignment and it’s free. If your budget allows, you might look at a front end bushings kit too. Several options for them online.

Front End Rebuild Suggestions
My experience with Moog has been good the past few years. I used the Moog Problem Solver line on my front end rebuild and they’ve been fantastic. I think there is a cheaper line of Moog that is available so maybe that is what has been the catalyst for all the negative opinions the past few years, but I ordered all Moog components through Amazon in 2019 and everything has been great. Tie rods, ball joints, track bar, etc…the only thing I replaced with a Mopar factory part was the steering dampener. Anytime I tried any of the parts store front end components they last literally less than 100 miles.

Who likes Bilsteins?
I ordered 4 of the reflex shocks and 3 of the four were already blown/defective when I picked them up at the parts store. They sell millions of them with good results, but I think your truck is going to crush them…unless it’s really flat where you live. Keep us posted. I am loyal to no brand.

Kind of what I figured. It’s been raining here all day so I’ll check it out tomorrow. After the WT mod it has shifted better, firmer, and held stronger than ever…3 weeks of that and boom. Maybe the truck running correctly has finally exposed issues in the transmission. I’ve been wanting to have it rebuilt anyway.

Anyone seen any new 2022 Dodge Cummins trucks yet ?
The dealer a 1/2 mile from me has a 22’ Big Horn crew (2500) on the lot for 68K and it looks like they’ve got 5 others ordered and not delivered yet, but the price on the limited is 87K. In Tennessee.
