Lift pump
I am a low budget guy, sooo. I spliced onto the old stock fuel line as it comes out onto the frame rail with 3/8 hose and clamps. Then to a 3/8 inline suction filter and then to the pump (mounted on the frame) and all the way through the stock filter to the vp44 with 3/8 line and 3/8 banjo fittings. I drilled out all the ports in the banjo bolts to .182. I used a raptor pump but your new stock pump will give lots of flow with this setup. For the 140 micron suction filter, 3/8 banjo fittings and hose go to Eric at Vulcan.

Anybody tie the waste gate shut?
My stock 2001 auto only sees 19-20 lb of boost. In CA engine mods are illegal and are smog checked every 2 years. Is there any advantage to adding boost only by tying off the waste gate to get 25-26 lb of boost on hard pulls?

Fuel psi drop
X2 , never use thread sealant on a fuel system. But the new adjustable regulators are just an adjustment on top of a spring and ball. No diffrent than adding shims. I added a line to my system from the fitting entering the final filter over to near the left fender. There I can EASILY add a test guage to measure filter drop.

Raptor FRRP or FASS DDRP ?
Installed 3/8 lines from tank to VP44 today. Installed an easy to reach pressure port at main filter inlet. Sure enough my filter with only 4,000 miles on it is plugging. Pump port press. is 13 lb, pre filter port is 20 lb on hard pull not towing. As for pre filters to the pump, Vulcan sells a simple can inline Donaldson 140 micron screen filter in 3/8 and 1/2 in size for around $15.00. I used the 3/8 banjo fittings at filter and VP. I drilled out the port holes in my old banjo bolts to .182. I also noted that the modified banjo bolt with the 1/8 npt tap on the end of the bolt is only drilled .130 and needs drilled out to .182. Hope this info helps.

Raptor FRRP or FASS DDRP ?
After a week of thinking about my earlier post. I could have gotten a bad load of fuel. A plugged fuel filter could cause the low pressure problem on a hard pull. I should not knock the new pumps performance until I check pressure before and after the filter. Will do that after I get the larger lines installed.

What size big line kit do I need?

What size big line kit do I need?
I started this post because I was getting a 10psi pressure drop at hard pull, with a VP100 raptor pump and stock lines and filter. This problem popped up after replacing the Raptor on warranty. I always say go back to the basics but guess I am getting senile. I could have a restricted fuel filter causing the problem. Anyway great discusssions. What I did find is the fitting going into the VP44 weather banjo fitting or 12mm JIC adapter is only .297 dia. with( .0692) sq in area. The restricted banjo bolt with 4 .130 holes has .0530 area The banjo fitting at tubing connectoin is .173bore with an area of .02349 in, A whopping 33% smaller than the banjo bolt bore. The stock fuel line has .07666 area, 10% larger than the banjo bore. 3/8 line area is .1104 in area which is 37% larger than the banjo bore area. With distance adding resistance being a factor , I think 3/8 line is in order with 3/8 banjos and hi flow bolts. Also I had better check fuel pressure befor and after the fuel filter

Where is back up lamp fuse? 2001
Not that a 2500 Dodge rides rough BUT the hot wire to the backup lamp rubbed through the ground wire to the tail light. Wiggle, wiggle Both right out in the open with no pinching.

Where is back up lamp fuse? 2001
Thanks guys. I even knew where it was with the hints. I have been into it befor. Was just having a brain fart. I even had the dash all apart yesterday repairing the sticky indicator for the trans gear selector and cleaning the dust out of my odometer area.

What size big line kit do I need?
I would like to stick with the banjo type fittings. I know about the hi flow banjo bolts. Are there higher flow banjo fittings with 3/8 barbs out there?

Where is back up lamp fuse? 2001
Checked every fuse in panel on left front fender under hood. None blown. Also didn't see tail light fuse. Is there another fuse panel?

What size big line kit do I need?
Moparman says I need a big line kit with my raptor 100 on my 2001 stock Dodge. How big? Big lines all the way to the injection pump? I know about the high flow banjo bolts but are there big line banjo fittings? I am thinking about the XDP sump instead of a larger draw straw. Any thoughts on that? Can I still use the stock fuel filter?

Raptor FRRP or FASS DDRP ?
Bought a Raptor 100 in July 2012. It failed , seal failure in November. The replacement would not pump. Played with the relief valve. Thought I was cranking it in too much. All of a sudden it was produceing 80psi. Blew my 0-50psi manual guage. This past week it was set at 23psi static and would only produce 9psi at max pull and as low as 14psi at 0 boost and 1800rpm. I do only have a stock fuel line set up, but the first pump performed a lot better than this one ( psi wise ) before the seal failed which caused the motor to quit. I will put on a big line kit next week.

Torque Converter Lock / Unlock Issues
How can a diode make a noise? The alternator is made up of a stator (3 seperate windings) 6 diodes( 1+ & 1- for each stator winding) & the rotor winding that spins and controls output (control depends on amperage sent to the rotor by the regulator) OK, one winding has poor or no output (winding failure or bad diode) Think of it as a 3 cylinder engine. 2 cyl firing & 1 not firing, Will it shake? Yes That is what makes the noise (imbalance of power)

Torque Converter Lock / Unlock Issues
Bad diodes that will cause the 30vac also will sometimes cause the alternator to howl that to some folks sounds like bearings

Terrible luck with Raptor.
Also had a 150 with a bad motor seal. Did the factory ask you guys to return your old pump? My first contact with the factory was trying to find out what size the in and out fittings were. I was sure they were #12 jic but lived out in the boonies so I asked them before ordering. They said the bore was 3/4 inch 12 and had never heard of #12 jic. 30yrs as a HD mechanic and I have never heard of 3/4 12. They blew me off. They are a bunch of block heads. The bores are tapped #12jic.

Torque Converter Lock / Unlock Issues
I have fixed two trucks. Both had <.1 volts AC. On my truck,I disconnected polished and reconnected every ground and foil wrapped the ground over the alternator and relocated it. The other truck had very loose ground cables at the batterys. That truck I also did the foil wrap procedure because it was the cure of the day. Both trucks are doing fine 6 months later. Not always an alternator problem. Remember the basics

Guage install info
I didn't like the window post mount offered. Looked Cheap. I hand fabricated my own post mount. Used 2inch abs pipe. Cut and fit into original post cover. Feathered in 2in abs with JB weld. Painted whole thing with hobby paint. Guages just fit into the 2in abs. A small touch of silicon rubber locks them in.

Use caution when installing Raptor 100
Had an pureflow VP- 100 Raptor start running erratic with fuel leaking from elect motor and motor running in spurts. Got shipped a warranty replacement. Installed it. Fuel pressure was 5 psi. Adjusted the relief up to 20. After few seconds pressure dropped back to 15. Let it run there for 10 minutes. Wait and see what happens. Then I cranked it up to 18. I thought the adj. screw was pretty deep compared to the last one. Should have trusted my instincts. Next morning on the way to town, I hear a pop. Blew up my oil filled guage. Installed a 0-100 test guage and found it pushing 65 PSI. Cranked it back to 18psi. Going to run the 100psi guage for a while and see if this thing is going to stay adjusted. ( 6 hrs of running so far) I think there was debries under the regulating ball and seat.

Had my 99 full bore fuel pressure said 0????
Or it could be like my air dog 150. The motor on the pump was intermitent. I don't understand the need of 1/2 inch lines on these small engines unless you are flat out racing. In days past my experience with 315 cummins engines that pulled 78,000 lbs and only got 6mpg only had 1/2 inch fuel lines and it would be 15 ft of suction befor the pump.

Bought some bright white leds from E-bay/china to replace 1156. First bulbs had 68 led panels. on the second order they offered bulbs with 102 led panels. Cheap, fast free shipping and they work great. Every bulb in my 5r is led now. Wish sender would send packing list to find them later. Look for 102 panel leds on e-bay Name ,WEI HUA from Shenzhen china - - - Updated - - - Back to LED's . I did some research on E-bay. Go to led bulb 1156, in motors section. Bypass vision technology. They are repacking china bulbs and doubleing the price. Scroll down and find very generic adds from china. There are several vendors. Best price I could find was 4ea 68smd panels for $13.00 bucks. The 102 or 120smd (actually 102) are 510 lums . lums on 68 are not stated but are nearly the same as 102. Price is 4.59 for 1 102smd shipping paid. You will not be dissapointed. look at led bulb 194 for the flat plug in bulb 33smd panels/120 lums $1.50. Remember leds are polarity sensative. One of my fixtures was wired backwards.

What kind of mileage with Your RV
My 2001, auto,3.54 gets 13.5 towing 27ft Alpenlite with a gcw of 17,600 at 61mph. 61 or 62 is acceptable all over California. 63 can get you a ticket. Averaged 12.5 over 12,000 miles to Alaska, but Alaska has some hellish grades.
