  1. Just tell her "Happy Valentines'.... and tell her about the safety bonus of being able to stop better! (her safety of course, is most important!)
  2. gosh, I can already see/hear (in my mind) my rig popping over my ridge.... and turning down the lane... sigh.. Too bad most towns around here have big ol signs saying: NO ENGINE BRAKING... Shoot, if I was a safety engineer... I think using all the anchors possible (especially in town) would be encouraged! I Still think the Air Starter/ Jake brake combo is the ultimate in sound bytes... I know some big trucks with auto trans work fine with the jake... i'm wondering how these computer controlled one's respond to zero input on the throttle, and they are expected to 'hold back'... maybe that's what the manufacture was trying to work around...
  3. I read (buried in their Youtube channel) expected cost between 2000-3000 for system Unfortunately, I am Not average! (I dipped below that years ago!)
  4. .........now EVERYBODY is gonna want to be a farmer!.......:)I wonder if Baltimore would have won, that the buildings' electrician showed up this morning driving a brand new ferrari?
  5. what or whose fuel system is on those engines in the video? I wasn't thinking.... again! That pump on the front of the engine is for controlling the valves??
  6. finally!!after scouring the various forums, either Dodge or Mitsubishi, I found a common problem with the 91-92 models:Bad capacitors inside the ecm.So, this weekend, my son popped his out, and cracked it open. He didn't see anything at first... but I snagged my 3X power 'specs' and sure enough, there it was! one capacitor had puked a trail of brown snot... and it flowed across about 4 different circuits.... So, I think the problem has been discovered.Found a rebuilder in tenn. (ASI) and for $150 (free shipping both ways) and a lifetime warranty plus, they'll flash it with the latest version.... hopefully this is the 'final answer'.I was told about 5 day turn around.
  7. yes... 4 door. I've been told quadcabs are about 200 heavier than regular cabs... so my 'bicep' measuring estimate may have been off by 50 #'s or so... I am also thinking about spraying bed liner under the cab on my project truck. I'm thinking I'll do the floorboards (under the mat and halfway up the kickpanels as well) I'll have to wait until the outside temp is warm enough thoughthe catylst can be adjusted in the mix to give either a rock hard, or semi plyable coating as well as the texture.. (almost smooth, to very 'rough')
  8. The past few years we've all seen the ads for 'high horsepower' injectors.I've known for a lot of years that I needed more fuel to compete in my 'kinda stock' farm tractors... and 'pump work' was reqd. THEN the nozzles were the limiting factor.I was trying to wrap my head around the claim of these higher ratings (with no pump mods) a hundred hp is quite a jump!but, most importantly.. ITS RAINING HERE!! geez, you should see it run off the frozen hard packed ground. I just hope SOME of it soaks in!
  9. I can see how a larger nozzle will transfer more fuel (in the same time reference) A person would think then, these 'upgraded' injectors would shoot a tad more, but quicker. (isn't that counterproductive for a nice even 'burn'?) At high rpm, ~2500 and above, maybe this is good!Do these nozzles run more holes to accomodate the increased flow, but retain size for good atomization?I'd like to see actual 'line' pressure mapped on the whole power stroke.. I'll bet the pressure 'drop' on the high hp nozzles drops off faster than stock. It would have to, everything else being equalIs that what the 'return lines' are for> a place for the unused but still fairly high pressure fuel to go to>?A little light bulb just came on in my tinfoil head... if it weren't for the return line, the pressure would just compound itself for the next pulse. no?So, theoretically, using 100 hp injectors, and the same pump... there would be LESS fuel going back the return line.
  10. yes, less than 1500me and 3 others picked one off a frame last month, I'd say it was about ~200 pounds at each corner.Pretty sure if it was over 1500, the 4 of us would all have hernias...
  11. That is so true Mike! So many forums online have party to party blaming each other, saying this guy does that, that guy is just trying to 'fix' the other guys' mistakes..... and the "SHEEP" just keep CLINGING to the 'same ol same ol' Meanwhile, our debt has become totally unserviceable. And NOBODY cares! The smirks and guffaws behind obama's back when he gave his 'fiscal cliff' speech a few weeks back, (and these were HIS comrades) told me VOLUMES!! If a person really wanted to 'serve' his Country, and spent millions of dollars on the campaign trail, you would think he/she would at least have the decency to 'look' concerned when 16.5 TRILLION dollars of their 'constituants' money is at stake!
  12. I'd bet he was wearing armor... can you imagine the nightmare the SS had today??
  13. 'trench coats' and regionally, AKA 'dusters', were almost a fad about the time you were born....(assuming you are early 20's..) with the youth at the time.. They were even BANNED at certain gatherings! Mine was the black 'oilskin' Duster... it was a medium canvas soaked with special waterproofing oil... and had the split right up to the crotch.. (ease of riding horse or bike).. and had the badass turn up collar. I learned quickly folks 'in town' didn't like the image! as for why? ahem, can you imagine the arsenal of hardware that might be 'hanging' around? Plus, they help keep you warm!
  14. There was a collective sphincter shudder as the potus was sworn in... Not sure, but it probably registered 4.3 on the Richter Scale...Mike, is there a tasteful emoticon to add to the list... that would show this phenomenum?
  15. I wonder what the Sisu 7 cylinder- inline mapping looks like!
  16. ....... speedo is rock solid....so will double check my connections on front half.... or any other damage...
  17. My sons' Stealth suddenly aquired a miss @idle, and surging bucking @ speed, 3 weeks ago. I told him to do a normal tune up.... plugs, wires... and even put new gaskets on the intake plenum (need to remove the intake to change plugs). No change.Took it to a Dodge dealer, and they ran the thing through their normal 'tests'. All they could find wrong is an actuator motor that changes the intake plenums' runner length...well, 6 hours shop time, a new motor actuator, and 9 bucks for a can of cumbustion chamber cleaner the bill came to ~$500... the 'miss @ idle' is gone, but it still misses pretty badly when ever the engine is not accelerating. Any gear, any speed. Whenever the engine is held at a constant rpm, it starts to buck and miss.Soon as I 'nail it', it screams to life, and it's business-as-usual.First thing that comes to my limited knowledge is: vehicle speed sensor? The reason I say this is because it acts sounds just like any computer controlled that is in Neutral, vehicle is stopped, and the engine is revved to 2500-3000 without a load (and it's missing, spitting and farting)...Soon as you put it in gear, and the computer 'sees' car is in motion, all is well!Does this sound like I'm on the right warpath here?(this is Mitsubishi built car, for dodge, and trying to 'learn' Japanese is not easy!)
  18. after reading many posts on this issue.. This is a pretty common problem.Ours comes on after it self-diagnoses (after engine start) and before vehicle moves...I'm confused though on this, if the sensors are at fault or inbalanced, wouldn't it cause the warning light to come on AFTER the vehicle moves?? Will do the fuse check and visual inspection of connections here this morning...
  19. coincedence here...There was a study reported yesterday on Fox news, that said exactly what you have stated. "Is a degree worth it these days"??The study basically said most BS degrees are NOT.
  20. I put a Cardone unit with the internal magnet filtration. I got it through rockauto. I think I remember why the second unit failed so quickly... The dealer put a new pump on it about 2 years ago, and after I drove less than 30 miles back to home, the new pump was out of oil!... which I just happened to have a spare quart onboard.turns out, the rebuilt pump came without the 2 mounting bolts that holds the pump into the reservoir... just has plastic plugs (which DON'T hold oil very well...) I can only figure the lack of oil shortened it's life! The dealer wasn't too worried, it was working fine AT THE TIME....I didn't make that same dumb mistake! I think the pump cost me $55.... and about 2 hours time to R and R. I did the vacuum pump-with power steering pump-as-a-whole... timing case-to-pump gasket was reused...
  21. wires are...well, the devil's playground! nuttin but black science, witchcraft! A plot against humanity...
  22. ME TOO!! I have a brand new one still in the box.. (AD100) I wonder if there is a better seal to install NOW, before it smokes out??
  23. before after Used the 3M kit, and honestly, even though it does a great job, I wonder if my time, took about an hour each one, plus the cost of the kit is really worth it?? New aftermarket lenses are pretty reasonable. Deer strike took em out long before they started to haze again...:banghead: - - - Updated - - - I noticed too, the protective 'film' is removed during restoration.. I wonder if a 'clear coat' would help?
  24. I'd think they aren't trying to move as much (high volume) plus keep the reqd. pressure. How much is the AD putting back to the tank... before it even gets to the IP? Half?? Plus, a lot of tractors have fuel tanks that will have a positive head pressure.. (when tank(s) are full)... and the pump doesn't have to 'work' quite as hard.. a lot of tractors have fuel levels typically ABOVE the lift pump and IP location.. Most of my masseys' lps are more of a 'transfer' pump.. No lifting reqd! but then again, my iron is old, and all have mechanicals anyway.. OR.... maybe the dumb things are just built better in the first place... whats typically going 'bad' with these AD's? poor seal allowing fuel into the motor?
