  1. On the 215 pumps, are they trying to increase hp @wot, by retarding the injection timing (and putting more heat out the exhaust, increasing boost?)That notch won't increase fuel just because it's there, the bore and stroke is still the same no matter what the shape of the top of the plunger.... in fact, the total fuel when spill port is centered on that 'notch' will be less. (unless there is a equivalent 'bump' in the helix notch) Great video!
  2. easy peasey. It was the first thing I checked! (fuse).
  3. PC fan not 120vac? :shrug:ok, re read your post, and I think I see what you want to try.... tap into the heat's own circuit to power up your fan..
  4. I did get it started, I jumped the terminals on the starter ('00 3500). Funny how you check to make dang sure it's in N before crawling under the truck... and still a little nervous when you stab the terminals with piece of baling wire..So, tomorrow, will check the fuse, relay, and the clutch safety switch... anything else?
  5. Sometimes, my 'impulse' buying does get me into hot water.. but, in my defense, I got the 'energy saver' model washing machine!!!HappyNew Year to the optimists, and thank God '2012 is in the books' for the rest of us...
  6. I got one for my son for Christmas this year.... What a hoot! I got him the basic starter truck, with brushed motors, nimh 3000 mah batteries.. Even in this configuration, this thing is awesome. This one supposed to be 30+ mph.. fast enough to out run the dog! The engineering, and materials are out of this world... not to mention the myriad of possible 'upgrades'...(can you tell... I'm new to RC?)who would ever thought you can link an 'i' device to the controller, and have data (dashboard) right under your nose... complete with GPS accurate mph?.. (who would have time to look???) just need to add the proper sensors, and can veiw rpm, batt temp, motor temp, batt volts, and mph (with gps device). I suppose after a 'run' you can go and download the whole performance and map out the course, and what the machine was doing at various stages...I spotted a couple of Youtube vids of guys who mount dash cams, and record the whole run.... geesh, at close to 100 mph, and a camera mounted 2 inches above the road surface.. those lines on the road are just a blur! I wonder if these guys are running the car from a static position, or are 'chasing' the RC with a car? Those models are hard road (and very smooth)... I got more of the off road 'fun' kind!I got my wife a new washing machine. woot.
  7. I've never worked on a 855, but I thought they were kinda the same as my 903's... There is a provision for setting injector timing, with offset cam gear keys.. but it was always 'in relation' to the cam.. (cam timing must change in order to set injection timing) Lately, I've been setting the injectors using the torque wrench method.. just to see if it saves any time versus the dial indicator method.. It is, because I can set the valves and injector at the same time/per cylinder.. I go about 45* after tdc to set all three... five actually when you include the valve cross heads.. Simple design... just need 4 foot breaker bars to work on the thing!
  8. I wonder if they checked for a pulse?
  9. to me, this popping occurs about 1/2 of the way 'back into it'... right after a high speed spin down.
  10. Originally introduced and passed in Montana, the FFA declares that any firearms made and retained in-state are beyond the authority of Congress under its constitutional power to regulate commerce among the states. Following initial Montana enactment, clones of the Firearms Freedom Act have subsequently been enacted in Tennessee, Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota, and other clones have been introduced in the legislatures of twenty-some other states. The FFA is primarily a Tenth Amendment challenge to the powers of Congress under the “commerce clause,” with firearms as the object – it is a state’s rights exercise. Basically, what this says, is ANY gun that is manufactured, transported, sold, and retained within State borders, then Fed laws are null. http://firearmsfreedomact.com/ This has a map of the states which have adopted FFA. ('course, Nebraska HAS to be like Cali!) idiots...
  11. I just had a tractor last week, with an extremely hot line. It was caused by a bad spool valve internally. The hydraulic pump NEVER shut down from it's max output. That particular line 'buzzed' the whole time the tractor was running... even when the valve was 'closed'.... Lets just say it took out the pump too! I've been taught that when a liquid is forced through a small area, it creates heat. A lot of heat...and that heat just goes back to a tiny little reservoir to start all over again. Internal leaks on all my powershift tractors are the death knoll.... anyone have a high pressure washer? what happens when you don't trigger the wand after about 30 seconds? It causes the thermal overload to dump some water out of the head of the pump... and that little burp is quite warm! otherwise it just keeps recyling the water through the head and bypass valve until needed at the wand.I have a suspicion that yes my pump is shot, or close to it, and my boost o rings are all hogged out from the heat circulating though it like crazy...I'll have a good idea tomorrow!
  12. well, so far everything works fine... right up to the point I REALLY need steering or brakes! ie; the start of a 90* corner... its not very fun to keep the revs up, one foot ready on the brake, and the other on the clutch... and one hand on the door handle for a last second egress... As long as the engine is running above 1500... everything is good.I was just hoping to find a flow chart to diagnose this, and not have to throw a bunch of unnescessary parts at it!doing a little searching and this is a fairly common problem.... ranging from what you said, a stuck valve, blown fuse, (abs lite) debris... etc. ...... one thing I did notice this fall, was the feed line from the pump to the booster was very hot. I always figure a hot line means there is too much flow going through it... a stuck valve allowing too much bypass?
  13. The '00 did it again this week, no powersteering or brakes. (below ~1500 engine rpm). This is the 3rd time it's done it since FiL bought it 10 years ago. Dealer bent him over both times..... I guess it's my turn! It's got the typical seep at the steering gear, and takes about a quart a year to keep it topped off.. I do have the seal kit onhand. Before I attack this problem, is there anything to check before swapping out the pump? It doesn't sing or whine... and yes, it's full of fluid. Is there a inline filter somewhere to check? The last one was replaced because it doing the same thing, AND it was putting a ton of air in the fluid. almost pure foam... and very noisey. Is there any rebuilders to stay AWAY from? And, is this a typical problem? have about 180k on the truck now.
  14. Speaking of 'general aroma'....I've been in HuffingtonPost for the last week or so. Yikes! Insults, Name calling, word bending, conjecture. I was in only 2 or 3 threads too... (guns and politics mainly)... Forget the environment, 'green' issues, *** issues... ugh, they have a hot button for anyone!I was promptly thrown into the 'bagger' group. (not sure exactly what that means...) Almost wonder if these ' interwebs' ( which I, as a 'redneck' uses,) is to blame for the extreme polarizations in any issue these days! Seems like EVERYONE wants to be the 'one' to put the final nail in a coffin... no matter what it takes.Since I'm not an 'intellectual', my posts are just considered 'knee jerk' reactions... I was told to shut up and let the 'experts' decide on what is best for me...
  15. you ain't wrong on the continuing of 'burn' way after the ex valve opens!I worked on a a v8 perkins in a tractor... no muffler, just a straight pipe up out the hood. (no turbo either)under heavy load, at night, I had a orange/red plume extremely visible 4 foot above the stack..... and the stack itself was RED!!! turns out it was way late (1 tooth) on it's timing... a simple r and r had it running right. Joys of buying others hack jobs??Pop @ wot?? I give up. Sure would like a sound byte to hear just what they are describing...
  16. when were they usually popping? ie: idle, cold engine, no load... fast idle, hot engine, under load...I can see if there was a bad injector, it's puking 'heavy' partially unburned exhaust into the manifold, where the heat from the healthy cylinders will go ahead and lite it. But I sure would think it'd have to be 'up to temp'.My 903 had a slight miss... and it actually had raw liquid fuel running past the v-bands..(on cold start) The V-8 uses quite the jungle jym to plumb the turbo... made it easy to figure out which cylinder flamed out. turned out to be a galled injector/bent pushrod. Thinking back, it was kinda popping too...a intermittant soft 'huff, puff, pop'.... But it had to be hot first... it's a little harder to pick up on a slight miss with a v8.. opposed to a 6!I assumed in my first reply to your op, 'backfire' was what you were trying to explain! I assumed wrong... again.
  17. where is it popping at? exaust?ok, I re read you last post, and I got my answer. I think you nailed it with the late timing... possible bad joint on the head pipe drawing in more O2 to flash the remaining charge?also, a crack in the exaust manifold will do it too! (draw in O2)
  18. any accumulation 'lately' 0.30 inch of rain 2 days ago. Maybe, MAYBE 1.5 inch total since JUNE 3. It's been the driest here since i've lived in Ne. Our area averages about 18 inches annually for moisture. Shallow rooted young trees are dead now.oh yes. Blizzards! We can't have a nice 'blanket' of pretty snow. it's always coming at me sideways...Worst one I've experienced was 4 years ago.... 30 inches snow in one storm with 60 mph winds for 3 days.
  19. left one is self explanitory.. Right is Israeli teacher 'watching' her brood. Here in America, we hand out condoms. - - - Updated - - - http-~~-//youtu.be/77_BzTO7X0E
  20. Barometric pressure drops.Animals have a keen sense of this... and act on it!I saw your neck of the woods has some weather coming in! do you get rain or snow at your location?
  21. ...Has anyone noticed, there has been no mention of our 'fiscal cliff', Mideast crisis, or any other crap coming out of DC since the shooting?...... Also, I wonder how huge this story would of been, if this nutbag used his car to plow through the building.. and the exact number of lives were taken?
  22. http://youtu.be/XpDFLbUu3BI What do we do now? We start by taking matters into our own hands. Start by writing letters, emails, phonecalls to your congressman, senator, Your local and state elected officals... stating you want to be able to defend yourself. NO gun control. Bring back swift capital punishment. No more revolving door prisons.Bring back corporal punishment in the schools. Kids must know/respect the 'rod'. (we've home schooled 2, and #3 is 'in-process') When Bill Clinton was elected the first time, that was my 'breaking point'... I pulled our kids out of elementary school... and started at home. There is a reason I have 14 year old vehicles... I put my money in my kids. I have given my 'whole' to raising my kids...without babysitters, afternoon daycare, or other outside hand-offs. don't get me wrong, they aren't hid away in the closet.. They belong to the local 4-h club, local hockey team, the youth group at the church, the area Home School Association has over 100 youth members. I think we have the 'social bases' covered! The next part will be the hardest to swallow... Are we as a nation going to wait for some 'law' to come down, or are we willing to do what ever it takes to 'stand up' for what is right? and possibly be persecuted for doing it? We can discuss 'right or wrong' all week here, but when millions of babies are murdered every year in this country, I have to wonder what 'law' is going to protect ME and my family? I pray that if I ever get in a situation, where I have to put someone down, like depicted in the above video... that I would not be 'nailed to the cross' for having a weapon on me. If it comes to that, I would rather go to jail than see my family or other innocents suffer. It'll come down to 'what are you prepared/willing to do'. We have a constitutional right to defend ourselves. I for one will rely on that freedom. I'll probably burn for it too. It's my decision.
  23. The gov't shouldn't have any say in firearms. Period. It's our Constitutional right. I will laughably say the only reason DC worrys about control, is to keep a peaceful population from overturning them. Wild and Free makes a sound call, We have a generation 'weaned' on ritalin, and babysat via wii or playstation... Perhaps too many kids these days think there is a 'reset' button? I wonder if the 'kid' who did yesterdays' slayings.... was under duress, hunger, broke, or ever 'wanted' anything?...... Or just needed attention...We all can argue till death do us part on how to handle 'bad dudes'... or how to prevent them from 'being'.Unfortunatly, the 'drum beater' on POINT in real life is the first to get mowed down... (meaning... the folks who think life is risk free, and take no precautions, or rely on others for well being) There is no time to argue these days on the ultimate 'fix', because the problem is here and now. We as parents must look at where are children are. Are they safe? who is watching them? Are there precautionary systems in place? If not... maybe it's time to rethink our 'public babysitting' facilities. I say this with tongue in cheek... because I am blown away with what some parents do these days! "hand the kids off to someone else" to raise. We must bring back Capital punishment.. and they must be either HUNG, Electric chair, or Firing squad. And they must be public. I can hear all the bleeding hearts thinking 'oh, but what about the wrongly accused innocent'? Our Justice system is perfect right??? To that I'll respond<<< OJ Simpson.... Sometimes mistakes will be made. The fear of getting caught, and held ultimately responsible for 'bad' actions, has, and always will give 'pause' to a potential crime. I don't give a crap if some dude claims to be crazy, or 'unable to understand' what he has done. If found guilty of a Capital crime, then swift and extreme justice must be carried out. No matter what.
