new alternator on the way

i did a redneck repair on my alternator, the contacts wore out so i pulled the little holder off and drilled the holes out bigger so i could slide it around to make them connect untill the new part showed up. works like a champ haha

I put a 170A mechman on mine, I haven't changed the belt on it yet.  It squeaks on shutdown but works fine sofar.  I hope to pick one up in the next week or so.  

Did you buy one of their alternators?

Hopefully their diodes are rated for that amperage. Just because it bigger doesn't mean its better. Remember the higher the amperage the more heat is produced on the diodes.

This is why I disconnected my RV batteries from the truck alternator. Now only charge the RV by generator or grid power. I feel better about this all the way around not placing too much demand on my new N/D alt.
