Hopefully their diodes are rated for that amperage. Just because it bigger doesn't mean its better. Remember the higher the amperage the more heat is produced on the diodes.

i did a redneck repair on my alternator, the contacts wore out so i pulled the little holder off and drilled the holes out bigger so i could slide it around to make them connect untill the new part showed up. works like a champ haha

I put a 170A mechman on mine, I haven't changed the belt on it yet.  It squeaks on shutdown but works fine sofar.  I hope to pick one up in the next week or so.  

Did you buy one of their alternators?

This is why I disconnected my RV batteries from the truck alternator. Now only charge the RV by generator or grid power. I feel better about this all the way around not placing too much demand on my new N/D alt.

Ummm... The stock trailer connector only has a 40 amp fuse so the charge rate is less than 40 amps.

OK, so I don't want to spend $400 on a mechman and I have a Bosch currently in my truck. Do I have to get a reman bosch or can I use a nippendenso? Are they wired different?

Nope... I would just hit the local NAPA pick a alternator have it bench test and go home for fraction of what both high performance alternators cost.
