On topic, hy35 is a 2001-2002 auto thing.

@Andyba20, can you post a photo of your turbo? i have a theory but i need to see what down pipe flange you have.

Turbo labs of America has a .83 undivided non wastegated turbine housing. But it has a weird flange, smaller than an hx40 but same kind of flange.

The undivided with an approximately 14cm^2 housing is a laggy SOB.. and wouldnt spool well..  He351cw and vgt get away with it because they have a 9cm^2 housing (He351cw) or variable geometry..

Any chance your gauge is just off? Electric gauge or pneumatic?

How many miles are on those stock injectors?

Do you have good lift pump pressure?

Do you feel like the truck is underperforming?

If you didn't have a boost gauge would you think anything is wrong?

Is the truck blowing smoke?

Ha ha ha!  Yeah, it never posted while I was watching so I kept hitting "Submit Reply" and finally gave up and went to bed.  I guess they ALL finally went through!  Sorry about that.

Not sure why these guys think your boost numbers are off.

I doubt the smarty will increase much at all.

If injectors are realy old they will also contribute to low psi.

If everything is working normal, I would think well over 20 psi boost should easily be attained at wide open throttle with a loaded truck on a Smarty tune.

My truck has an HX35 with a blocked wastegate and I could easily attain 30 psi boost by 1800 rpm's on a mild Smarty tune when I had 300,000 miles on the OEM injectors.

Something is amiss.

One thing to remember about building boost...

More retard timing will build boost quicker and more boost pressure. More timing advancement the slower to build boost and less boost pressure. The whole trick is to have the retard in the right spot build quickly and the flip back to advancement. One of the few limitations to Smarty S03.
