Hey I think it is about time to ditch the casette player and upgrade to a newer radio that may has a ipod jack and satallite radio but was wondering how difficult this swap would be. See my truck has the infinity speakers that have the big connector on them so do I need new speakers also? Thanks :thumb1:

Stop by a WalMart and pick up a stereo adapter kit (wiring plugs) and the dash adapter and just wire it in. Took me a little over 1 hour to solder ans shrink tube the wires on the adapter to the radio and then just plug it in. Not hard at all.

Any head unit that you get should be labeled really good and the wiring adapter kit is as well. It's as easy as putting red to red orange to orange... They give you crimp connectors but soldering is always the best thing, though I don't see much of an issue with crimps in this situation, not like mud gets in there. Just make sure you know how to crimp lol.

One thing I found out about installing a head unit with the infinity system is that there are usually 2 blue wires coming off the head unit wiring harness and you want to connect the blue amp remote wire and not the blue antenna remote wire. When I originally installed my head unit with my infinity system I had connected the antenna remote wire and I had no bass. I did some research and found that I needed to connect the amp remote wire instead, so I did that and I had bass again.

One thing I found out when trying to research this subject was that aftermarket radio's dont work with the steering wheel radio buttons. Is this truly the case?

Some time ago i was thinking about doing a new radio. I went to one of them shops the boom boom place that the kids like. He told me he could make the wheel controlls work. I never followed through with it. He tryed to sell me this massive thing that fit under my rear seat it had 2 12" speakers. I passed.
