I used to like ACDelco but I am starting to think otherwise. I am in the auto gate buss and use a lot of marine batt. and I am starting to have a lot of warr. calls. Also my fan clutch (Acdelco) is about 10 months old and she just went south. Bought a new clutch today and it is made by Hayden, anybody ever heard of them? And cost was 120.00 plus tax :spend:

can anyone share how free the clutch should be cold? I saw Mikes video of the eng running and holding the fan but is that how free it is just sitting cold? Is there drag at first then it spins free? I have more drag on mine then i would feel comfortable putting anything in the fan blade. I just noticed the hub bearing is bad also..:banghead:

Hayden used to be a leader in quality fan clutches. Bought one for my old dodge in 1993 at Pep Boys with a lifetime gaurantee. Put the recipt in the box with the old clutch. About every 120,000 miles I take it back and get a new one. They put the lifetime gaurantee on it but didn't expect me to keep the truck for life.

For what's in the video the engine has been running a least 60 seconds or so to spread the oil in the clutch then you'll hear the clutch unlock. Takes longer in time or more RPM as the oil get colder to unlock the clutch.

Which fan clutch is the one you are using? Cummins replacement? I got a new one from Napa today that is supposed to fit a '95 (no first gen clutches in stock), and I let it run for about 10 minutes, drove it, and it still never unlocked a bit.
